    I met him twice in my life when I worked at a grocery store. He came thru my line both times. The first time, i didn't really know who he was. He came in again and came thru my line again. That time i was nervous, everybody came up to him excited to speak. I ended up messing up something and he said, "NEVER LET NOBODY SEE YOU SWEAT"

    RIP Steve McNair. They are not lying about him or about how Nashville, TN felt about him. I live in Nashville and I ran into him many times when he was alive and he was always polite and respectful. The city of Nashville loved him and still mourns his loss. I remember the game when that man lost his $100 dollars and he was so shocked that Mr. McNair payed him back and he was humbled. We love and miss our Hometown Hero.

    His scramble on that final drive in the Super Bowl where he shakes off two three hundred pound lineman and then throws a pinpoint dart downfield with everything on the line is the single greatest play that I've ever seen - in any sport.

      im from germany and havent been into football (nor alive lol) long enough to witness that, but the first time i saw it i was in awe. that play is the definition of mcnair. he defied the odds. did whatever, no matter the challenge. unbelievable player and an unbelievable man. an absolute tragedy that he isn‘t with us anymore.

    • @MrTitanic222
      @MrTitanic222 Год назад +4

      @@connorestes9814 Greetings in Germany Connor. I've been alive a while. There was a fantastic documentary on that game that I can't find on-line. They interviewed a number of players and coaches from both teams. They showed how Kevin Carter, number 93, the First Team All Pro defensive end for the Rams who missed that sack/tackle (93), took himself out of the game after that play. That he was so exhausted that he could barely stand. Vermeil was enraged and was yelling at him, to suck it up for the final few plays of the game, but he couldn't. He refused to go in. Another defensive lineman who stayed in felt the same way - that McNair had broken them physically and mentally. It truly was an extraordinary play and that final drive was one for the ages. It is sad that they fell inches short. But it in no way detracts from the drive, and his sheer will to win.

    I loved watching Steve McNair play. He put his entire body into every play, into every game. He played hurt so much of his career but the key word there is PLAYED, PLAYED damn hard. I have absolutely no negative thoughts or feelings about him having a mistress. We have no idea what was in his mind, his heart and by all accounts he was a great dad and husband. Sometimes introverts rarely meet anyone who they can relate, talk to and trust. Sadly his trust was misplaced but that mistake should not have cost Steve his life. We all make mistakes but rarely have to pay with our lives. I remember AIR McNair for being the toughest QuarterBack who I ever saw play the game; for his dedication to the kids (11,000 of them) who came through his camp free of charge; and for the love he had for his mom, his brothers, his wife, and especially his kids. Steve McNair was a great man and football player.

    I was a witness to Steve McNairs toughness. In the early 2000s (4 or 5?) He played in a playoff game in Baltimore against the Ravens. He was so banged up, two offensive lineman had to help him down field when they advanced. I was in the nosebleeds and I could tell he was in horrific pain. Needless to say, The Titans won the game. RIP

    I was hoping the Titans won the superbowl this year to finish what McNair started. They didn't make it but I'm proud they made it this far for the first time since McNair, Eddie George. Sanders, Bishop, Wycheck, and the whole crew. Growing up in Nashville, we lost a legend when he passed. City ain't been the same since.

Right then and there I knew he was marked for GREATNESS. I'm just torn up knowing he's gone but his legacy will live forever. Rest in Peace Steve McNair. It was an absolute pleasure watching you dismantle defenses in the S.W.A.C.

  • @jakesnake66
    @jakesnake66 6 лет назад +40

    Just a tragic story. Those handsome sons talking about their dad....gosh damn that's strong. Certainly, McNair had some demons, by no means perfect. But, to anyone sitting on their high horse who feels justified judging this man, I remind that some of the best human beings on the planet went through unspeakably low periods in their life, making terrible decisions and hurting others along the way. Redemption is available to EVERYONE, and countless men and women have found it, recognizing their past wrongs and living the remainder of their lives with those scars. There's no way to know that Steve McNair would have traveled that road, but then there's no reason to conclude he wouldn't have. The tragic difference is that Mr. McNair did not get that opportunity. And to anyone who would say McNair "got what he deserved," I say: Go look in the mirror and repeat: "I'm a judgmental asshole who rationalizes his own sins but won't apply the same standard to his fellow human beings." And then go pray for some compassion and perspective.

    I was training as a Pharma rep at the Ramada Inn in Nashville in Dec of 2000. Eddie George had a bar in said hotel. Myself and 5 other reps were drinking beer there as I was hoping to get Eddie to sign a Jersey for my brother in law as a Christmas present. (my wife's family are Houstonians and die hard Oiler/Titans fans) Anyway later that night Eddie George, Jevon Kearse, and Mr. McNair (he was on crutches as he'd gotten injured in that days game vs. the Eagles) came in with an entourage and went back to a private room. Later Eddie's wife came out and took my jersey back to get it signed. Well about two hours later, Jevon and Steve came out and hung out with us for a bit. He was kind of quiet but super nice guy . Jevon Kearse was a talker to be sure. Later Eddie George joined us as well. Getting time to settle up a somewhat sizeable beer tab, around $250 as I recall. Steve McNair got the attention of the bar girl and waived her off. He payed off our bar tab. Very humble guy was my takeaway, not a showoff loudmouth to be sure.
