Just bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. I don't know why these didn't catch on more in the US. Looks and sounds mean and it's pretty cheap. I think the FZ(MT)09 was released here first and captured the market. Kawasaki missed out. At least I get to ride something rarely seen lol.
The Z800 pulls more as you mentioned about the torque. After two years you don't have to buy a different bike but with the Honda you will. the quality of the bike too, Z800 has better suspension, better brakes and a stronger chassis. The Honda's weight is the only pro. Honda...cheap, lighter. Z800...heavy, better build quality, better components I.e brakes etc. No need to change after two years.
A great review thank you. I’m looking for a commuter/weekend bike and interested in the Z650 or the Z800 111bhp model. My main commute is along 18 miles of 40 & 50 average speed roads and then into London of 20 & 30. I’m not really worried about the weekend spirited MPG, but would you have real life data for the Z800 MPG on the average commute as above.
thanks for a great review... as a commuter bike, how would you rate this compared to a yammy mt-07. i'm currently considering one of the two. let me know your thoughts please.
Thank you for watching. I haven't ridden the MT so it wouldn't be a fair comparison. the only thing I know for certain is if you like smooth power delivery then the Z800 gives you that or if you prefer torque and a slightly snatch throttle, the MT gives you that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Like this bike. I have ridden it and my only negative is that it is a lot heavier than the Striple and MT09. For me it's a good bike to buy second hand as they're not as popular and go cheaper, at least here is Australia they do. If I was buying new the MT09 is the best value.
UK is the other way round, they are more expensive second hand than some others, they hold their value better. Also, the Mt09 is a different kind of bike and so is the street triple. I could say the KTM 690 SMC is lighter and more fun than the Mt09 and Striple
You don't think the Z800, Striple and MT09 are in the same class? The only KTM that would be comparable is the 690 Duke not the SMC. Regardless I enjoyed your review.
+Charlie M hahaaaa, I was responding to a few comments, I thought you commented on the ZX6R review 😂😂. Yes the Z800 is, I'll check what I'm writing next time 😂. Thanks fella
Excellent video friend ....Excellent location ...totally peaceful ..I subscribed:) ...and don`t ride inside traffic in close space.. as a biker i wont do ..really imagine ..
Im just mad kawasaki did not a fully faired version of the z800 because I love the look however i want something for the highway will a windscreen! In addition their ninja 650 is awesome but I want a inline 4 or 3 bike after the ninja 250r that is street friendly (so no 600cc organ Donners lol).
i just bought brand New 2016 Z800 Sugomi, have ridden MT-09 and other bikes in the same segment. the MT-09 is SHIT compared to this on handling. the mt 09 is a Death trap in the twisties i kid you not. the suspension on that thing is trying to kill you. the GSR750 handles pretty similar to the z800, bit less Power but honestly comes Down to preference on looks between those two. Love the Z800, was also considering the mt09 but after riding it many times and testing it. no way am i ever going to get one.
Please do! i know the reworked the suspenison and its now adjustable, but i still have my doubts. some of the New reviews on it says its been improved, but its still the same deal With it beeing to soft and bouncy. liked Your video, subbed!
Collected mine yesterday. Can wait to start riding her.
Good luck, stay safe
Looks like a good bike am considering getting this bike great video

I don't unfortunately because I only rode it for the review. But I worked for Kawasaki and the returns on MPG in town is good

Thanks for the response man... Appreciate it...
You say your height and leg measurements but don't actually say whether you can flat foot the ground on the bike or not.....can you ?

I know what you mean, they may do something keep an eye out next year.
You can get a windscreen put on it, there's an official one. Besides that, having fairings isn't entirely necessary.
Alex Tunstall oh i see

the street triple is a good option, but i havent considere it due to we dont have a dealer here so cant buy a New one and service it.
Mats Fredrik Floer lol @ suspension trying to kill you. I'll do a review of the new MT09 2017 model
