In the history of Africans I learned from my childhood is that Ntu ( singular) the father of abantu ( peoples " plural " ) I am umntu PERSON living with abantu PEOPLE.
I just wish people can remember what they were taught from their schools and from their families as the real history coming from those before us down to us current generation, so that you don't get lost in the mixed up with other people. I'm glad I learnt more and more of our Nguni people and how that breaks to clans and tribes. I'm from the south African tribes with their rich history and where they're from. And I'm from Nguni descendant, and in Xhosa nation .
And I know where our people come from.

The ”Musu-a- tunya” means “the smoke that thunders” in bant languages most of them will have the word “Musi or Musi meaning smoke. The word “tunya” means “hit hard”. The water that thunders down the escapement truly thunders!
The word Mosi may also mean first in Bantu number systems. So I trust that is where the confusion come from.

Someone else asserted to the fact that Africa was rather Efrikani, meaning from the beginning. Understand this and know peace, There are several thousand languages in Africa and each one of them had their own name for the continent. The Akans themselves called it Abibrem which meant black land. Go and study my friend.

I am Namibian 🇳🇦. So, In my mother Language: little I understand about "Muntu," it mean a singular person.
And in plural, they call them "Vantu." 👈 that's Gciriku or Rumanyo language. But there are also, Sambyu and Kwangali using that.
And to my father's side, they call a "single person," as "munu or muguva," but if in plural, they call them, "hanu or haguva." 👈these are the Hambukushu or the Mbukushu people who uses thus.

From my understanding of the word Bantu is derived from two words 1. Aba meaning father 2. Mtu meaning person or people. Collectively it means the father of the human kind.
