Been using the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (2019) since 2020. Was like US$129, still selling around that price. Solid little thing. Recommend ditching the Samsung OS and installing Lineage, as Samsung hasn't updated it past Android 11, and Lineage 20 is on Android 13. One I have is wifi-only, but there are GSM/LTE versions out there.
@@MinaSchloch Been fine. Only issue at first was the pull-down notification tray would sometimes blank out, and the power/settings button going off-screen when in landscape. Been fixed for a while now. Speed-wise, it's fine. Don't game on it, only music, videos, web stuff in Firefox, and light document editing.
@@JustinDAMusic There's always this one snob who thinks that anything that isn't in the most expensive category and doesn't have the best characteristics on the market isn't worth buying, even if you don't need the more expensive stuff. If I intended to throw it away after 2 years, i simply wouldn't buy it, but I've never had the need to throw away my gadgets after 2 years, even the cheapest ones.
The now discontinued blackview p9000 was the only phone I could find in the niche of "cheap smartphone that has a really big battery". I still think that this niche deserves more attention.
Not that my touch devices look any better but I would recommend cleaning the screen from fingerprints whenever you want to showcase it in video (or picture for that matter) so it looks better.
Important point: unlockable Bootloader? Because then you could out LineageOS, DivestOS or even better Operating Systems in it. Poor that Android doesnt opensource any of the Tablet / PC mode things. All manufacturers do things like pen input, Desktop mode, split view etc, all proprietary. So as long as its running that Google Android it is an unusable Tracking Device.
As usual another good video. Not sure if you mentioned it but can this tablet be flashed with plasma mobile? Ive been hearing good things about it recently especially with the updates to come from plasma 6
Is the video camera on the Blackview better the camera you used to record the video ? 😂 Only joking, these things happen. Just ordered the Tab 80 for my grandmother. All she wants is something to watch Netflix and RUclips, and to be honest after using a Lenovo Tab 8 for the past 6yrs she'll think this is magical. Good review.
Hi how does the Instagram app look like on this tablet ? Does it go full screen like Samsung Galaxy A9+ tablet, i have stargardts (verry weak eyesight)
I'm looking for a tablet to operate a EV sound system remotely.. so I'm not looking for much other than good Bluetooth and a slightly larger screen than a smartphone. Decent decent RAM and decent storage size. Also an operating system that will not turn down volume automatically when you connect a 3.5 inch Jack. Which is what Samsung does and it's a nuisance. Would this fit the bill? thanks so much for the video
I enjoyed watching the review, it reminds me of the entry level Samsung tablet I got last year to get some experience with Android. It's an entry level Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (2022) model and it's performance is much like this Blackview tablet - very entry level, works OK for the most part, but it does stutter when running apps like Microsoft Teams. The nice thing is it made me wish Apple was more open to allowing sideloading of apps on iOS. The only downside the tablet had was that I wish I could install something like Ubuntu Touch or KDE plasma mobile, but there doesn't seem to be support for this tablet - although the UB ports site seems to indicate that the tablet should be able to run Ubuntu Touch, but I am at a loss where I would even start. I do got to ask.... since you have that blackboard behind you... What's with "Paint fridge black"? That really caught my eye as soon as I saw it.
Tablets that can connect to external monitors are usually around 8x more expensive so I doubt it. The cheapest one with that capability I can think of is the xiaomi pad 6 pro.
2:11 Who really needs fingerprint reader? Don't you guys have brain cells to remember your password or at least a pattern? Please don't be lazy. There is no hurry to constantly look at the device. Constantly looking at devices as such is lower your attention span.
Thanks Nicco. Keep em coming, I enjoy your content.
I was hoping this would be a cheap way to get KDE on a table.

I must say avoid lite variants as they are very slow, but i like their size more

How is LineageOS on a Tablet? I suppose no optimiztions?

It is actually optimized enough
blackview (and iHunt) devices falls under the ewaste category
Yeah, np software support makes me wonder who permitted them to produce such a e waste thats going to be thrown in the trash after two to three years
This is a decent tablet. I'm actually typing my response using it. You don't know what you are talking about.

It was about 1.3cm thick and really heavy to make it work, but trading style instead of money for reliability is exactly what I was looking for.

Can we put Ubuntu Touch on this? Thanks for the video!
Can someone explain to me why it’s charging slowly!!!!
It’s very slow charging as like there’s a problem with it

random no-name android tablets rarely get linux support let alone usable linux support.

can you connect an external screen with a usbc- to hdmi?
that is nice and all but does it support treble project and can I unlock the bootloader?
Hello, Sir. What about the touch response? Some cheap tablets have a terrible response.
Probably just fine if he didn't complain about it.
The touch response is okay.
Does the power button mis regester or works perfectly?

Great review!
It is weird that still only apple has good arm laptops/desktops. Nothing on windows/linux side, maybe we will see something in 2024.
HI.. Great work . I have a feature request for the coming KDE if a barrier like app be baked into KDE?
4:35 The real question is: But can we install KDE Plasma and remove spyware on it?
No one cares.
IMHO it would be much more interesting to see Plasma Mobile on this device!
Android is just boring

if it have usb3 (it does not have usb3, only usb2)
At this price that will never happen.

Can I boot KDE on it? 😀
nah, SOC does not support it

Your video is glitching, maybe its your graphics card?
Maybe it's KDEnlive

Lots of artifacting in the video.
You are reviewing a tablet but most of video I see your face not tablet. You could clean the screen from your dirty fingerprints
