I hated having the Facebook app on my phone, it seems to take over with all the notifications, so it was deleted. Twitter is too noisy for me, like being at a party and everyone is talking at once, hate it. I listen to podcasts and watch videos, that's about all I can stand.
I hope you figure out your sleep issues soon, nothing worse than feeling tired all the time. I'm sure your naps help and it's good you're not avoiding them.
The duck it thing is right on. I procrastinate on every project around the house, and when I finally get sick of myself avoiding it I'm so happy when it's done and kick myself that I didn't start sooner. But while I was procrastinating I fine tuned what I wanted to do so it's not always bad.
Happy New Year Craig and Chyna.

I'm definitely less informed since quitting facebook/reddit, but I don't care. I can make a difference in myself, and the people in my immediate vicinity. That's it. If I'm extraordinarily successful in that, maybe I'll consider tackling broader issues. Until then I've got more than enough to work on without worrying about events thousands of miles away.

I have an old phone the kind with a pop out keyboard. I’m going to try putting my sim card in it to see if it will work. No apps, and I think it does have gps which is good in case I needed it in an emergency. Also I don’t want a smart phone but I definitely never want to go back to typing text with 10 buttons, or was it just 9...? I think it’s only 9.

I felt the same about Facebook. That site brought me nothing but pain. I logged out in June, then 2 months went by and my mental health got better. So I deactivated it 2 months later. The people who want to talk to me still can. I'm better for it. I deleted my twitter around the same time, but I wasn't on twitter all that much anyway. However, my addiction has switched to reddit... so that is a thing.

I think society has hardwired us to feel really bad about not being productive all the time. Where constant productivity is seen as the way to happiness and procrastination is apparent failure. I think our obsession with work is detrimental to our mental health and wellbeing. This might sound quite obvious, but I believe it's still important to remember that there's a lot more to life than work. And that being productive in itself isn't directly related to being happy or living a meaningful life.

I agree with what you say here mostly...what Craig describes as wanting to be lazy or do the easy option is true for me. I feel guilty about this. Where I wonder if your statement is wholly true is when considering self actualization in terms of maslows hierarchy of needs. Can we reach our full potential without being productive in something...is reaching our full potential what makes us restless when we are being lazy or procrastinating. Is this a cultural driver as you suggest or something more innate. I wish I knew so I could give myself less harder a time for being a lazy shite and only seeking out what I want to do.

I've been thinking about this. I'd think it's plainly unadvisable for public figures to delete their social medias if they have an interest in sustaining themselves. i like how you said that there's going to be like rules, etc. but it all boils down to telling your brain to be productive at that exact moment. i get to know rules, and i get rid of distractions and all of those things. but then if i don't tell my brain to just make the choice of not being a lazy bitch, i fall asleep or do nothing. i'm finding the harry potter quote really helpful lately "it is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities'. i used to spend hours waiting to feel ready. but lately it's been getting better. i've been telling myself that nothing's going to HAPPEN. i'm just going to have to make the choice to make it happen. i find myself kinda crushed when i can't study things and retain them faster, but then again, the HP quote really helps. because i don't know if it's true, but i have no other option but to believe that my choice matters more than my ability. and i guess there's also this thing i feel stuck with: finding a balance between not being too down on myself and pushing myself to do stuff.
anyway. that was my rant. awesome video :D

As someone who also struggles with sleep I completely understand the feeling of being desperate to sleep to have the energy to do all the things I want to do, but its a vicious cycle . Wanting the sleep pushes it further away. It's important what you said, that you have to just 'feel the tired and do it anyway' as you'll very rarely be energised to want to do it. I dont know if what I've said had made sense. Anyway, love what youre doing, You and your wife are excellent .

Sweet thing with no added sugar: freeze bananas and blend them with frozen berries and powdered peanuts (Trader Joe’s has one with no added sugar). It makes a Frosty kinda. It fills my ice cream cravings. I also throw in flaxseed meal which ups the satiety and adds healthy fiber. Also cooked apples with cinnamon. Cook a long time and it’s like apple pie filling.

Anywhere I go, people are completely buried in their phones. Either they're endlessly scrolling on Instagram/Facebook, or they're rapid-tapping in Snapchat.
I was sitting next to my cousin once, and she was scrolling Instagram really fast, and I asked here why she follows all these people when she clearly has no interest in what they're posting, seeing as she looks at each photo less than 1 second. She didn't like that.

I love watching to PotatoJet when he talks about hacks for video shooting and editing; ie. how to make the process easier. He does a lot of reviews about gear that I will probably never buy or use in my lifetime, but it's nice to hear him talk about new things that he's tried (so that I don't have to ~) I'm totally guilty of buying "the thing" with the belief that it will help me be a better "so-and-so". Also guilty of having perfectly good gear sitting around getting no love that I can be a better "so-and-so" with if I'd only just use it. Trying to be more mindful everyday. Keep on keeping on Craig! Craig, I’ve held off on recommending this as I’m sure you get a ton of book recommendations.. but with all the work you do, I’ve seen sleep be a consistent thing you’ve been concerned about. The book Why We Sleep by Dr Mathew Walker is not only an incredible book on sleep it is the bar by which I measure other “accessible” nonfiction books. The sleep science has progressed so profoundly in the last ten years that it may dramatically shift how you think about what is impacting your sleep. It did for me. Sleep is, second only to breathing and drinking water, the fundamental way our bodies are capable of doing the sophisticated things we do.

Regarding the professional/outsourced animation - I usually avoid those videos - especially if I see it in a thumbnail for a channel I'm not really familiar with, because I've seen some pretty bad or basic content packaged with those. I just don't associate it with factually reliable content, which may be wrong. There's probably some pretty factual and engaging content I'm missing out on, but I don't know, just gives me content farm vibes.

In terms of "you're not hungry, you're thirsty"... it's not about the water itself,
it's about what's in it (or isn't): electrolytes.
Sodium, potassium, magnesium. Your body needs those. They may be what your body is asking for, especially early in the morning after you've fasted all night.
You learn about this quickly once you try out a water fast.
If you go and drink just plain water, you're gonna feel like shit, cause it's not gonna provide you with enough electrolytes and instead will flush out the ones you already have in you.
One can benefit from taking a potassium and magnesium supplement (both in citrate powder form are OK - you're gonna have watery poop at first, but it'll get better) and adding some sea salt (or himalayan salt) to the water, or perhaps simply drinking mineralized water (which, btw, has nothing to do with whether it's carbonated or not! It's about the electrolyte content).
In terms of snacks... nuts are great! They're calorically dense, so watch out, but they can satisfy you for some time. Just get a test done on which ones you might be alergic to.
I eat hazelnuts, peanuts and almonds every day!

It's not about just doing it it's also about getting some back. And if the cycle of doing stuff not getting anything back continues for too long it's time to lay down.

I agree about Twitter. I used to be on Twitter all the time and lately I found myself getting angrier. I am doing the same and quitting Twitter

Procrastinating; the sound life makes, as it crushes down time aggressively like a food processor.

I go through the exact same thing with Twitter - so I know that feeling.
I also know the "I never feel ready for anything" feeling too...
And recently I tracked my sleep and I'm pretty sure my circadian rhythm has been set to a 25-hour day for a few years now.
So, yeah, the struggle is real. lol
Did you watch the David Blaine "Ascension" video? (youtube originals) - it was actually really interesting!

Master Craig, first I really love watching both of your channels. Generally, at minimum, I find them highly entertaining, and more often than not, very informative.
All of which makes me slightLy, though not all too much, feel bad about crapping on this video.
Before anything else, I HIGHLY recommend you see a Sleep Specialist and have an in Clinic Sleep Study done. Everyone has different sleep patterns. Plus as we age, our sleep needs and tendencies change wildly. I have never needed more than 6 or fewer hours of sleep. I have sleep issues since I was a kid, but a couple years ago, at 30, I started having ridonkulous Insomnia. Still don’t need any more than 6 hours of sleep, but I appreciate short naps more.
As far as motivation goes, I have to say, most of the roadblocks to motivation you address are copouts. Like anything else in life, motivation has to become a habit you train yourself into. Motivation is at the heart of anyone falling short or failing to do anything they ‘hoped’ to accomplish. Motivation is a learned, then practiced, then becomes a habit an anyone’s life. If not, all the other could haves, should haves, might haves will just pile up in life. This leads to one of the MOST DESTRUCTIVE forces we can experience in life: Regret‼️
Nothing can break a person’s Spirit like Regret‼️
Much L♥️VE to You, Chyna, your Adorable Daughtry ADA and the Whole of Team WeezyWaiter‼️‼️

Have the same type of sleep problems! So I feel you, pass out fine and then wake up at like 2-4 in the morning and toss and turn all morning. Still have issues to this day but I use something called Gaia Sleep through definitely helps at least a little. Love your videos keep it up!
