My favorite gun shop of course had a very nice Argentine 1909 Mauser just waiting for me and my girlfriend (soon to be wife). She really fancied my 1891 Engineer's Carbine which I also have a video on, and so when I saw that this rifle was sitting on the rack, she asked me if we could take it home. Of course I said yes!
This particular 1909 has been excellently preserved and taken care of and I am very happy with it. It functions excellently and looks wonderful, what more can you ask for? Additionally it is all matching with a nice pristine crest remaining as well. It is truly a product improved Gewehr 98 pattern rifle in every sense and I simply love the quality and manufacturing that went into this gun.
As I have said before, these South American Mausers that were made in Germany are really quite undervalued because they are every bit as good as the German Mausers that remained in Germany for both World Wars (and then some). I would even go so far as to say that this particular 1909 is very very close in terms of niceness to my Persian Mausers and that is not praise I give out easily.

I've recently seen one of these rifles at my local gun store. It had been sporterized and rechambered to fire 30-06, but other than that, it looked real sharp. Super cool rifle you have there. Enjoy that piece. Stay blessed!

Sounds like it's an early 60s import. Mine 91 at 100 yards of table and rest. 5 shots. Could cover with half dollar

Do you know if other 1898 patter mauser bolts would fit into the 1909 Argentine? I'm curious because I would love to try it with a turned down bolt handle but don't want to alter the original matching bolt, it would be neat to find a spare on eBay.

No I don't think they would work. Their extractor/ ejectors are slightly different I think. I hesitate to recommend changing bolts anyways as headspace can be an issue
      I don't recommend it personally

I seen one today. It had Argentina and Berlin stamped on it. It too was a 1909. $900. What do you think?
