Personally prefer the old mythological style of smite rather than this more cartoony look (I dont dislike the new ascetic I just prefer the old).
I really can't stand the new dull, pastel-colored, textureless bullshit they did to Conquest. Barely even looks Greek anymore.
Now they're gonna do the same to Assault.

@Ionut Makz cartoon smite looks like shit. Smite is trying so hard to be a look a like from LOL and it sucks. Old smite is way better
I sometimes forget just how long I've been playing this game
They really need to bring back the dark vibe to the map that they had. You have all these gods killing each other, and it's on this vibrant playground instead a grim warzone.
i played smite since the alpha on and off due to school and college exams and competitiveness here in india, and this video brought back so many memories.. showed it to my friends who had stopped playing from season 3 and they now want to come back to smite.. pretty happy that i will have more friends to queue casuals with .. thanks man

I started playing late season 1, a little before Serqet was released. Man, I forgot how much the map changed. I do remember the big controversy of Chaos side having an advantage in season 2 when the buffs were symmetrical, but the rock placement made the order side much easier to invade. Fun times.
I love how dark the jungle was in the beta. I’d love if they remade a map like this with dark scary tones
Great video very nostalgic. The speed buff removal as well as them replacing the attack speed buff with the void buff were probably my least favorite changes I had completely forgotten about the early elementals dropping mini speed buff that was something!
There was some games in early closed beta where you had a dedicated jungler who ran around like a rainbow light show with every single buff, problem was, we didn't have any jungle starting item at the time, so the pool of gods(which was under 30 gods in total all the way until Anhur got released) who could solo jungle camps were very limited. Only about Bakasura(who wasn't in for the start of closed beta) and Arachne could be a dedicated jungler at the time. Kali to a lesser extent, but required a lot of pots to be able to stay out on the map.
There was multiple factors to why this was the case, but the small jungle pick pool was the most obvious one(also people being mostly bad at the time, compare to the skillbase of the playerbase nowadays). Others were, even with buff stacking, every god had insanely high mana cost abilities, so you couldn't use them to effectively farm the jungle. And due to no jungle starting item, you had to have some sort of cheap self healing(Bakasura, Kali needed mana pots and the blue buff since her self heal was rather expensive) or something to tank the jungle buffs for you(Arachne, her spiders worked differently before her rework and she could "solo" rush gf at min 0 with the old Odin that had an aoe attack speed buff instead of his shield at the time)
I would absolutely love for Alpha/closed beta to come back as far as the map goes. The whole aesthetic makes everything really immersive. Nowadays it looks like I'm seeing a cartoon forest with happy animals and singing birds. It's a shame I was never around at that time... Would have loved to have played conquest then.
Thanks for putting together some content from the early days! It's so funny how you can quickly forget changes as well. I had forgotten how big of a deal the portal demon was and things like that that just end up being replaced or forgotten hehe. Good content

I had kept up with the game since the beginning but could only play during open beta. This brought back memories

The first map will always be my favorite, 2nd in 2nd and 3rd in 3rd. They have the best atmosphere in that order. I hate the new cartoony oriental look the game took on.
Honestly the 3rd redesign for me had already lost all of the charm. I know they change it to keep things new every season but at least make it a little more gritty and pantheon-like again?

The season 1 map was my favorite and first (when Scylla was released) simpler and funner times imo. The season 2 design looked nice too. I hate how the map looks now.

I remember playing in closed beta. Most fun i ever had playing smite was in beta with friends just trying out every god and everyone fighting over who is getting Ra because everyone wanted to Play Ra :D this brought back alot of memories.
Been playing since the week before Athena was patched in, boy was this a nostalgia kick.
Season 1 is still my favourite. The design was far more subdued, it mostly just felt like you were in a forest and there was a pleasing sense of visual uniformity across the whole map. Plus the lack of fog made the jungle feel so much nicer in my opinion. Everything in modern SMITE is too big and garish for me, but at the same time oddly claustrophobic feeling.
I started playing around when Skadi was released and have been playing ever since.

You should try to do a video doing a over view of the major metas of Smite if possible.
Also I started playing late S4. I made my account in late S3 though but didn’t actively play until August or July.

When I started playing, the new god was Serqet.
Played during alpha/close beta and old Nu Wa was one of the funnest god to play. People used her for a backdoor playstyle with teleportation. A Nu wa can go 1/20 and still win because of backdooring.

Watched this video to figure out when I started playing. Closed Beta for me and I remember my first ever game on there was as Wukong in his original form AKA Hun Batz. I remember that the side jungles really interested me becuase at the time, I had been playing LoL since about 2010(?) and really wanted to know how they would affect the meta. I only stopped playing because I was playing on a shitty laptop and was only getting maybe 10fps as opposed to the 25+ I got in LoL...

I always enjoy tanks in most games I play, when I was learning Conquest I was told Warriors go in Solo lane, that was basically it lol.

I honestly liked early smite Conquest map visuals, regardless of the graphics, I overall liked the color palette and environment, modern day Smite feels and looks more polished and colorful, not sharp-edged and tense at times.
Also pre-remodel wukong had the best laugh spam in the game.
They should have kept the removed maps as an extra casual mode if you want to play there just for the memories. The old conquest map was really cool i miss it.

I never played beyond the Alpha... i started on League instead
I played 3 days After season 1 started then I stopped playing almost finishing in season 2, hi-rez deleted my Account and I don't still know why, then I started with a new Account in January 8th 2018, I still playing with my favorite god ao kuang (kukulkan sacred dragon skin), I would like they add skins of retro gods, like Hades and nu wa.
Buff's were nerfed, and locations switched(damage was moved to the cd-location), and the stacking removed before the jungles to the side.
The last days of the side jungles was the best days of Smite. I want it back, back when it wasn't streamlined into having typical roaming junglers.
I am not sure if the hole in the wall on mid was added before or after the side jungle was removed though... Can't quite recall. It was super usefull for telling what your enemy was doing(something which has became a joke these days, with tons of spells, broken speed on all and how easy it is too catch glimpses in general).
The worst part of the changes, is how it moved from being heavily skill-based, to being heavily co-op dependant. This is what made the community toxic, and the game far more boring...
PS. It also didn't try to balance a 100 gods at once, so it was far less broken. Though late game hunters were OP asf, especially Artemis.

Also, they not only changed the Visuals of the new Conquest Map but also made it ca. 20% Bigger than before
I started in January 2015, Season 1 was still up and Hou Yi was the new god (and he completely sucked, lol) never played much conquest but most of my matches have been on the season 2 map
So they rework 3 of my most favourite maps... (joust, conquest and assault) and make then look like shit? The new maps are not thaat baad... but it doesnt feel like Smite anymore
Old smite looks better than new smite the side jungle is awesome but most of all I hate the purple look smite has now

I still find modern day smite dark ang gloomy though, i think that's what keeping new players out esthetically. Also reasons why League of Legends have otherwise.
