Well,at least he keeps his good shape ( in an interview from the heritage era I heard he goes jogging and stuff. ). Love this man by the way. He graced so many of my days with good music that I could never forget. Amazing.

This is best best live growling i've heard Mikael do of Bleak. Proper growling. In some later version it came across, instead of a pure growl, kind of crossed with harsh yelling.
I think that Opeth is definitely one of the best Swedish metal bands , specially when it comes to the bass ! too bad they rn't so famous in Sweden as i noticed , bands like Sabaton and Ghost r much more known , and Opeth kick their asses ! but still this complicated awesome music is not understood by alot of people I guess

@@Haxprocess Ehh I’m not sure. Their style isn’t super classical sounding. They use a lot of extended chords, especially in clean sections, which weren’t used until the late romantic era. They also often use modes like Phrygian, Phrygian dominant, and Dorian, that weren’t really used until the 20th century. They also like to move minor chords around in parallel, which isn’t very classical sounding. I think Opeth takes most of their influence from jazz, blues, rock, and metal (obviously).
@@samvanblarcom4758 Jazz is for sure the biggest influence outside of rock/ metal, and while in terms of modes and chords Opeth does not draw from classical/ baroque music, their harmonies, counter melodies etc. are very reminiscent of some late baroque music.
Peter didn't write any riffs after Morningrise. In an album don't remember wich one he gave Mikael a riff tape he made Michael said he liked it after that Martin Lopez said those riffs weren't good and they never speaked about it later. Maybe Peter left because he thought he wasn't adding anything to band. So Peter changed black metal Opeth a bit but what changed Opeth was Michael's adulting emotions.

7:53 the transition from clean vocals to growling for me is the best moment in the song. To me this is what opeth is all about, the mixture of soft and chaotic moments. So badass! And Mikaels growls here are in perfect shape!
Fucking amazing band! I like them better than dream theater because of the growls and the more aggresive sound, plus I like their chill songs and parts from songs :D. They're finally coming to Romania on the 17th of july !!! Can't wait for it xD, they're gonna come with nightwish, my dying bride and tristania!
i've seen them 5x times and the only thing that's disappointed has been the house sound. I will see them at the Beacon Theater in NYC for the 25th anniversary tour. VIP!!!! They are incredible live. They are all great people and their music rules!
Watershed is made of awesomeness. And it's a lot different from their previous works. Did you check every album? You will notice a big difference between their works. The most similar to each other are Morningrise and Orchid.

He was a morbid angel fan back in the days. He said he almost stopped listening to metal a long time ago, and he still had that emotionally so violent and intense way of writing and performing his music though. yes... composing is inspiration but it is true that the best composers study A LOT to get where they are, by listening to many different music styles, learning scales and practicing. Not to mention their heavy but very clear live sound. This is the result of very hard work
Very few bands can build up towards a chorus like Opeth. If you listen to the clean chorus only, it's fantastic. If you listen to the entire song before it, the chorus feels 100x more special.
After watching Opeth play the Rock AM Ring I needed to come and watch this performance to remind me how amazing they used to be. Times taking it's toll on the band and they just can't deliver there old classics with the same power any more.

Yes,Fisher is slightly "uncontrolled". You can say that Fisher is playing the role of the beast,and Mike the role of the Demon (with power,intelligence and control). Plus he uses a large spectrum of growls (low,middle and high)and screams,and with originality and appropriate feeling. Fisher instead uses only low and middle growling,and high screams.
One time it was really foggy over here, it was night, and listening to Wreath and some other songs from Watershed felt a bit more fascinating and trippy.
