  • In this video, we look at how to use the Focus Transition feature in Lumix cameras like the Panasonic GH5, GH6, GH7, G9m2, S5ii and S5iiX. The Focus Transition feature allows the operator to create accurate repeatable focus pulls to rack focus multiple times at the touch of a button.

    I like this feature a lot and use it often

      Me too, almost every time I do a press opening video for a business they always want a focus transition shot as an opener. It's a really handy feature, saves me messing up a load manual focus pulls as a start to the day 🙂

    It would be nice if you could also use the WB/ISO/ExpComp buttons to move between the focus points.

      @stevelitton  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, currently that just overwrites the current focus position though, so it would have to be a different set of buttons or you would have to have a press and hold functionality. You have the touch buttons and joystick scroll, so it's fairly easy to cycle through the focus points.

    Lens 45-175. It has the function of changing focus through a button, electronic change. Can the Fn buttons be customized to control zoom?

      I don't know about how the zoom on that lens works unfortunately, sorry.

      @@stevelitton I read in the instructions that such lenses can be controlled using the camera joystick. This lens is released by Panasonic for video recording. A very interesting lens. If I can figure out the settings, it will be more convenient than pressing the lever on the lens itself.
      The ability to zoom smoothly makes the GH6 a full-fledged video camera.

      Yeah that sounds pretty interesting, I would be interested to know how it goes and well it works.

      @@stevelitton Today I bought this lens. Everything is fine! I configured the Fn button to work with the lens zoom. There are 2 speeds, fast and slow. The GH6 now looks like a classic camcorder. I recommend this lens, used price is $200. It is better to shoot video in A mode so that the lighting does not twitch when zooming. The lens is budget, so it does not have an additional motor for smoothing exposure.
      Everything I wrote is in the instructions for the camera.

      @@lnuponom2678 Sounds good, thanks for the update. I will have to check that lens out 👍 Is the aperture change whilst zooming an issue in terms of exposure?

    What do you think about the lens:
    Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm 1:4.0-5.6? I'm confused by the plastic bayonet, whether it will crumble on the sensor.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  6 месяцев назад

      I don't have that lenses, so I can't really comment on it. I do have the Lumix equivalent of it though and that is a pretty good lens for the money but it's not really that sharp. I always tend to stick with the Lumix brand lenses though for the stabilisation. I shot this on the Lumix 45-150mm ruclips.net/video/qbThQrH1V_s/видео.html

      @@stevelitton Do you have lenses with a plastic mount? Do they clog the sensor in the camera? Friction of plastic against metal can lead to shavings.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  6 месяцев назад

      @@lnuponom2678 I have a few plastic lens and I can't say I have ever had parts of them shear off into the camera. They are pretty solid but I have managed to crack the body of one in the past.

    • @lnuponom2678
      @lnuponom2678 6 месяцев назад

      @@stevelitton When the plastic bayonet rubs against the metal of the camera, dust can form, which can settle on the sensor. In theory.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  6 месяцев назад

      @@lnuponom2678 I hadn't thought of that. It's not something I have noticed but I do try to regularly clean my camera sensor. Maybe it is more noticeable if you don't clean it as often.
