I really wonder how fun it was to prank your school back in the day! No cameras, no footage of getting caught. It must have been great! What kinda things did y'all do in your college days?!
"Senior Pranks" were popular in my day. Parking a VW bug inside a school. Or stealing all the giant fake animals from a putt putt course and putting them on the roof of the school.
Hell we'd do similar things while we were still in high school in this day in age regardless of security cameras or getting caught. We'd cover our school mascot (a taxidermied bear) with bras, and one guy literally put our high school on sale on craigslist and the sales pitch said "comes with a free principal and staff" 🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
00:26 According to John Landis, director of the film, John Belushi, Rest in Peace, fall was NOT on the script.. He slid and fell..So, Landis told him "to get up".. They could have done a second take. However, Landis decided to keep it in the film...
@@34WitchdoctorYeah, that's the way score composers work. They are handed the complete finished and cut movie and they tailor make the music to fit the action in each scene. Landis was lucky enough to get Elmer Bernstein, one of the great movie musical scorers of all time to compose this because he was a family friend. Landis and Bernstein's son went to school together. Bernstein was an Oscar winner and composed scores for "To Kill a Mockingbird" "The Magnificent Seven" "Hud" "The Sweet Smell of Success" "The 10 Commandments" "The Great Escape" etc.
Actually the best part is the next morning when the maintenance guy is measuring the horse and then the door in the background and at the end of the scene he pull starts a chainsaw.
Yep, as they say, it is the simple things in life you treasure. This movie was made with such a low budget and yet it raked in millions. I can't help but think every time I see a parade that one day I will see that "Eat Me" cake barreling down the midway causing havoc! Absolutely classic. yes, fuckdiabetes. Thing is though, he did pull himself back and out of it pretty good, lost a full person of weight on those last seasons of babylon5, but I'm not sure how much work he was doing after that. That shit is a never ending struggle day after day once you got it. damit damit damit.
Oh man, what a huge bummer. I'll bet the house John Vernon (aka "Dean Wormer") is up there right now chewing him out as follows: "See, I TOLD YOU being fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son!" :-)
This whole movie was just one good scene after another. That is hard to do in a comedy. Granted that is what SUPPOSED to happen, but it rarely does. This is one of the few comedies that gets it all right.
Nathan and Griff Furst, my heart and soul goes to you two, and your mother, of your loss of your dad Stephen "Flounder" 2017. I am so sorry. What a magnificent actor.
Every time this movie is on TV, my elderly dad wants to watch it, even if he's seen it a million times and starts having laughing fits at the freeze frame part! He also does the same thing when Young Frankenstein is on, and they do a freeze frame close-up of Igor's face!
I wish John Belushi was still alive right now. Such as John candy, and Chris Farley. John was such a hilarious character in this movie. He will be missed, dies 41 years ago :( R.I.P
"Oh, boy, is this great!" --Flounder (I like saying that when the occasion fits. ) "Now, finish it, Flounder!" ---D-Day No horses were hurt in the making of this film. LOL
God, I went to high school with a guy who dressed like Bluto in this clip -- too short corduroy pants, high-top sneakers, crappy leather coat and all. D-Day reminds me of a guy I rode bikes with back in the 1960s. BEST clip from any movie -- ever!
This scene hurt my friggin side, it is on under xfinity Comcast under Free movies..this is tOOOOOO effing hilarious when they freeze frame that horse and then the next scene when the Dean and the Mayor are calmly discussing their strategy of what they are going to do against the frat house while the guy in the back ground measures the size of sawing that doorway open...this is a CLASSICCLASSICCLASSIC scene!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE..TOOO FUNNY! Butowski as a senator is fitting!
Watch for Otis Day and the Knights playing at the place that started it all. Otis played this past weekend there after 35 years. Epic! Look for The Dexter Lake Club, web site.... you won't be sorry!
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life..that freeze frame😂
I want to know if the sound the horse makes is a real horse or something else. Whatever the case, it still makes me laugh to this very day. 🤣
One of my absolute favorite movie scenes ever. It’s gross, but at the same time irrisistible. Pure genius. Love the freeze frame editing!
Kills me 😂😂
Ain’t nearly as funny as the WTF look on D-Day’s and Bluto’s faces when they heard the horse hit the ground! 😆
Classic 😅
My dad, WWII vet, LOVED THIS MOVIE. I am an animal guy but this scene was truly genius
Bluto & D-Day: heroes of few words, men of action.
"Holy shituh!"
"There were blanks in that gun!"
"I didn't even point the gun at him!"
"Holy shituh!"
"There WERE blanks in that gun!"

@Travis Owens He called the chainsaw crew.
John Belushi was so talented...
Rest in Peace Stephen Furst :( You gave us what is arguably one of the funniest scenes in film history.

It was still like that in the late 90s. I'm quite certain I wouldn't like college today.
@@stephaniemartin-ward4578
We went around town collecting for-sale signs off lawns and then put them up in the quad and in front of the dean's office.
Oh yes - the good old days, the 1990’s… Plenty of fun. So much so, I’m still doin’ time. I’ll be eligible for parole in 2035… I hope.
Their reaction when they hear the horse fall...their looks kill me every time.
The freeze-frame of the horse's final neigh cracks me up every time!
The part where Bluto slips was not in the script. John actually slipped and fell but kept going on with the scene.
LOL, that freeze frame kills me
+Mr Sarajevo It appears to have killed the horse as well.
That was scary when I first saw it as a kid.
You and me both!
Laughed so hard as a 9 year old, still laughing at 34.
I thought something went wrong with the movie when that happened! XD
I must admit that while I feel sorry for the horse I always die of laughter when it makes that noise and the camera freezes like that!
The only time I heard that noise was in a Little Rascals episode where a horse got drunk.
@Elliot Fogg it's a cheap effect that is easy to do, instead of having a horse drop dead on command.

It works so perfectly with the music leading up to that moment. Had no idea for all these years
Hence why a Director can make or break a good movie.
I never get tired of this movie. This is one of my favorite parts. Favorited.
It's in my top 3 for sure
The musical score in this movie is genius, they scored it completely “serious,” which adds so much to the movie.
My question is did they film Belushi sneaking around and THEN write the score? Cuz the music is spot on to his movements!

John Belushi completely owned this role. RIP
The slip and fall he did in the grass was unscripted also
I didn't care whether anything John Belushi did was scripted or not! He was STILL the best! RIP
The freeze-frame on the horse was PERFECT.
Kent "Flounder" Dorfman: I didn't even point the gun at him!
Damn you missed the best part where theyre all screaming and runnign through the hallway...
lol yup that's the best part.
KAYLA G The next morning, with the chainsaw, likely cutting the remains into pieces for easier transport out of there...

The freeze frame is the cherry on top, I never fail to laugh.

How did I find this comment? Don’t ask. But I did. 9 years ago, damn.
I also love the looks Bluto and D-Day give each other as they hear the thump on the floor.
The scene with the secretary hearing the chainsaw the next day, lol.
Yes! I saw the movie last night it was hilarious rip John belishi
RIP Stephen Furst (1954-2017)

ahh but you forget, Bluto is up there as well.
It's actually kind of depressing watching Animal House these days, probably because I'm too old for these things, and the real world sucks.
@herschie91: I’m writing this from the world of two-years-later: trust me, you have no idea.
Bluto’s advice to you, start drinking heavily 😬

One of the funniest

the noise / face makes after the gunshot will forever live in comedic genius-ness ! Omg 😂😂😂😂

I Wasn’t even born when this movie came out and this still my favorite part I never laughed so hard that horse reaction to the gun fire omg
