Im Scottish, studying to be a military historian and already had articles on the Anglo Scots wars published in historical journals.I don't know where to start, basically English and Scottish soldiers of the time looked and mostly fought the same. As time passed the Scots used new tactics. The only guys that really looked different were the western islemen and surrounding folk. But none of them are portrayed here.Painted faces are at least 700 years to late, tartan at least 250 years too early. Good song though.

@Lord Inquisitor Shadowlord The Picts were an advanced society,and we still are not sure how they decorated themselves. Woad has a night time effect like modern camouflage so it is possible that instead patterns like large blocks were used instead.

Film? Ever heard of Robert Bruce and William Wallace? They wanted a free Scottland from England in during the Revolt against Edvard the 1st. 1296-1328.. Learn history please The movie is based on these events also.
The only accurate thing in that movie were the names of some of the characters, maybe. Even the title of the movie refers to a different character (historically, Braveheart usually refers to Robert The Bruce). It's amazing how every single detail, even the clothing, in the movie is wrong.
Still, awesome movie. Mel Gibson is a good director.

While I love the Refrain, I can't befriend the somewhat unmelodic parts of the verses, where - for the sake of content (which is usually not a bad thing) - just another syllable or even two are pressed in. As great as the general entirety of the song is, these parts ruin it a bit for me. ( 0:21 "Guardian... ...ofscotland" | 0:40 "Kingofengland" | 1:35 "...to London... ...forexecution")
