There are actually two possible courses on the Severn Bridge.
When I was there we did the 'B' course, which is just running on the other side of the bridge.
As this is a suspension bridge, there is actually 30m of elevation. But its very gradual.
The course is an out and back course over the Severn bridge.
From the football ground car park, walk back down the hill and take the first left (Carwent Lane)
This leads to the underpass under the M48.
The normal course will require you to walk under the under pass to the other side to get to the start.
The first timers welcome and RD briefing were all done by the under pass.
Then we walked up the slope to the bridge and onto the footpath to the start.
The course can be a little narrow in parts if they are working on the bridge.
There are also lots of cyclists on the bridge, so look around before passing someone.
The B course is slightly downhill at the start and then the path levels off as you run over the first part of the bridge over the river Wyre.
You then cross over Beachley Head and onto the main Severn Bridge over the river Severn.
This is the point where the course gradually climbs. My Strava registered 30m of climb in total.
At the half way point, you do a U turn and hen head back to the start.
You run past the start for around 50m and then do a U turn and head back down the path to the underpass.
The finish is in the underpass.
Be careful as there are bollards just before you enter the underpass.
If you have a double width buggy, let them know as they can open the gate to the underpass.
The gap between the bollards isn't wide enough to get through with a double width buggy.
When I ran here, the sky was blue and the sun was out. The water looked blue.
There was only the slightest of breeze. But I can imagine on a windy day, it could be hard going depending on the wind direction.
The first parkrun here was on the 11th August 2018.
I ran here for the 115th parkrun on the 9th July 2022.
A big thank you to the RD and all the volunteers.
They were even litter picking before the start.
