Waaait, remember when Luz tried using glyphs in the human realm and they just turned into ashes? I wonder if Belos is trying to go back to see if he can undo the curse. I’m still grieving over this episode. I can’t get over the emotional torment that it brought me through. Hunter is my favorite character and seeing him go through this is making me want to kill Belos in the worst possible way.
SAMEEE Hunter is my fav too and seeing him have that panic attack made me cry I had literal tears running down my face, I wanna punch Belos across the face.
Makes me wonder if we'll ever see him again in the finale or at all, the show is coming close to an end unfortunately (I think s3 will only have a few episodes) and I'm worried what Hunter's fate will be as a character in the story.
Hunter’s panic attack at the end of the episode makes sense. After all Hunter just learned that his whole life was a lie. He learned his uncle has been lying to everyone. He learned about what happened to the other Golden Guards. He learned his uncle, his only family is actually evil. He learned Belos, his fellow uncle actually doesn’t care for him and tried to kill him. He learned about the collector. And who knows what he saw when he fell out of the mind.
Also he might have a target on his back now Edit: jeez, we *REALLY* need to find a therapist for Hunter Come to think if it, a lot of The Owl House characters could use some therapy Quick! We need to find a rogue therapy coven before the series finale stat!
he was conditioned to see belos as perfect and a savior, the fact he tries to dismiss the impacts of his actions on others and Hunter himself is telling of how traumatized he really is. hurts to see

It can genuinely be like grief, finding out a person you loved isn’t who you thought they were. I’m glad he has older figures like Eda and Darius looking out for him now, in time he’ll heal and be okay.

The unnamed Whittibane brother would be their great great great grandfather, and since Hunter is sort of like his son. The witch that, let's call him "Caleb Whittibane", fell in love with was pregnant when Phillip committed fratricide. Caleb's child would than be Eda & Lilith's great great grandfather. Since that unnamed Clawthorne was Caleb's kid, and in a way so is Hunter, that makes Hunter the great great granduncle.
This is probably the only way we’re gonna get it. In order to remove yourself from toxic situation, you have to first realize you’re in one in the first place. That’s the very first step to recovery.
@Red Balloon Yeah, he had to realize Belos was a bad person and that he doesn’t care about Hunter really, and there are other people like at the end of the episode Luz and Eda who do care about him. He needs to know things there are bad for him so he could leave and get to a place of good emotional health (hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll definitely see that in the show)
He is still missing one stage: Acceptance. He still needs to accept that he made mistakes, but he can make up for those. He needs to accept that, unlike his party, the other party can forgive mistakes and take him as a partner. Last but not least, he needs to forgive himself, he needs to understand that not everything was his fault, that he was being manipulated since the start and that, for the first time, he will be making his own choices.
I still have questions I need answers. If Belos has been bullshitting the fact that he can speak to the Titan, then what's up with the giant beating heart above his throne? What's up with that?
Also why does he need hunter specifically the grimwalkers are made to represent someone from belos' past life and if the cause of b philips curse was the spirts or dead palesments what was the glyph on his hand in liliths episode
@@ihateeverythinggood7605 the cause of his curse was a combination of the glyphs and palisman I think; my theory is that he drew the glyphs on his arm to try and give himself magic, and it backfired; the magic tried to consume him (he did note to Luz how the glyphs consume whatever they're drawn on, and we see it every time Luz activates her glyph papers). He started consuming the souls of palisman to keep himself alive, he's practically a living corpse, rotting from the inside out. I think the palisman inside him were trying to stop him somehow, maybe even make him one of them (I've seen someone note how those gross green scars on his face look like palistrum wood). He cursed himself by trying to survive his own fatal mistake. Like I said, that's just my theory, and it almost certainly has some holes in it, but that's what I think based on what we know so far.
Hunter is my comfort character. It's not like I relate to him a lot, I just really want to befriend him and help him. If he's sad, I'm sad. If he's scared, I'm scared.
SPOILERS: yeah this reminded me a lot about ultra orthodox communities (not just in judaism, in all religions i forgot the specific word my apologies feel free to correct me), especially when looking at the key signs of being in a cult. My two theories for what might happen in the next episode is him going to start heal from that trauma Belos put him through, along with adjusting more after being stuck in a ultra orthodox community, which he seems to already be doing when he joined willow’s team and got a phone. My other theory is him taking this trauma unable to repress it any longer, and blaming it on humans maybe even specifically luz. Sort of similar to Varian, where he blamed rapunzel and did everything to take her down, since this is Disney though, he’ll probably have a realization moment like Varian and heal in a healthy form. i’m hoping it’s my first though because i don’t want him to go through more trauma :(
@@mabelsan1133 I agree with this idea but I also hope Darius finds Hunter out there after a bit, talks to him and comforts him hopefully. And I feel as though Hunter will say something like "where will I go, I can't go back" and Darius takes him back to the Owl House so he'll feel safe enough.
@@qingelia7121 this is such an Avatar moment for me because it just reminds me how Zuko confronted his father and everything. But before that it was him spending time with the crew and moving in, and whereas Katara was skeptical and untrusting of Zuko its going to be Amity not trusting Hunter and thinking Luz is on his side or smth and cause a lot of drama.
watching this i felt exactly what Hunter felt. maybe my mother wasnt as abusive to this extent, i really dont know. but as i got older i realize how fucked up she was and my reality broke similar to this this poor kid needs some fucking therapy and a god damn hug.

what if the titans beating heart is an illusion of some kind, afterall it seems pretty high up, it's forbidden to touch or be near certain parts of the titan and is guarded by belos so they can't touch it the same way they could and illusion of a person? also could Phillips brother been named Caleb, it seemed like flashback gave him that name, and it's also suggested that he was there palisman. which also leads me to think that Phillips brother excelled naturally in this realm and Phillips didn't sort of like eda and lilith, but unlike eda and lilith they never resolved the tension
I think the big catalyst for their tension was Caleb falling in love with a witch (we see a painting of him walking off with a seemingly pregnant witch as Philip stared disdainfully at some point in the episode)

I get hunter completely. He just wants an adult to approve of him so bad. Even the slightest compliment from someone who may have hurt you before will suck you in. I hope he joins eda and luz and is able to feel more belonged, finally have someone who actually appreciates him and will be true friends.
we all knew that belos was philip but not many of us thought about how hunter would find out or react. this is not what any of us were expecting and i know that for sure

@@avery3333 something must have happend that belos saw as betrayl, because when he said "it still hurt everytime he chooses betray me" he said it in such away that emphasized it, kind of materialized the underlying emotions towards his brother that he grew to hate. Especially when you consider he used the pronoun he instead of they, I didn't seem like he was talking about the grimwalkers at that point think maybe it's like a Lilith and eda situation, that in the strange new world they ended up in that Phillips brother learned to adapt and use glphys faster and more effectively, even earning a palisman where as Philip. from there I think something happened to make Philip hate witches more and more until learning/ wanting to hunt them???

And it might have been a life or death situation involving wild magic, witches, glyphs, etc. But Philip managed to defeat his brother for he could be killed or left for dead..
@@avery3333 maybe, I defiantly believe he might of exceled faster, perhaps even getting a palisman granted by someone in one of the towns at some point (for some reason) perhaps from the witch he seemed to be in a relatationship with, that witch resembles eda when she had shorter hair, if this was edas ancestor and we already know the clawthornes have been palisman crafters for generations and I belive this is hinted at by the similarities in edas fathers palisman and hunters palisman. I think that they fell appart due to a number of things, one being one of the had more natural talent, likely the brother as he appears to be older and the brothers I think are designed to mirror eda and lilith (to an extent), this meant live in the boiling isles came easy to one and not the other I think this made one favored in the community and the other not so much, I think this caused Philip to experiment with even more complicated combos and eventually seeing what would happen if he were to try and harness them through his body giving him a curse, Philip was ashamed of his error and was comforted by his brother, at somepoint the portal door was made and the brother was in a relationship with a witch (which I think Phillip also would have been at least a little jealous of) I think she helped build the portal door I think that eventually once it was completed and the brothers were ment to return together but the brother wanted to stay and that is how the altercation started, as we have seen both Philip and is alterego belos are quick tempered, plus the lingering jealousy of his brother for years lead to an argument and than I fight with the brother lost. Then there is a witch that's seen fighting Phillip I think she was sfong enough to get him to flee but also perhaps what tipped him over the edge to hatred of witches
Maybe Belos/Philip killed his brother because he wasn’t doing exactly what he says. And/or his brother was actually good unlike Belos/Philip and didn’t want to hurt anyone. We know Philip is trying to wipe away the demon realm but if we look at the paintings in the background, unlike Philip, Philip’s brother who presumably was the original Golden Guard, must’ve grown found of the Demon Realm and like Luz at the beginning of season 1 wanted to stay there and live among witches. I doubt Philip’s brother would want to hurt others. He probably didn’t even want to help Philip but Philip might’ve manipulated and/or guilt tripped him into it. Just like what he did with Hunter. Making him think that they’re the good guys and trying to help when in reality he’s the evil one. Philip’s brother might’ve caught onto his schemes and his true intentions and tried to get away and to warn others and that’s when Philip/Belos killed him. We know from “Elsewhere and Elsewhen” Philip is willing to sacrifice anything and everything to get what he wants so killing his own brother wouldn’t be so far fetch. After killing his brother he must’ve needed a new “puppet” that would do whatever he says, so that’s why he made Grimwalkers, including Hunter. Since Hunter is most likely a Grimwalker since Belos said “Out of all the Grimwalkers you look the most like him.” You might ask “Why?” “Why would Philip want to do such a thing? What’s his motive?” Well, not all villain need emotional backstories that makes you feel sorry for them. There’s multiple types of a villains. I’ll be discussing two of them. 1 The Psychopath This is the type of villain that wants power, control, that wants to destroy the world and rule it their way. This type of villain doesn’t really have a reason to take over the world besides being power hungry, they don’t have an interesting backstory, they just want control. They don’t have the emotion sadness, they’ve never even experienced it. They don’t have a weakness, they’re ready to destroy/kill whatever and/or whoever keeps them from achieving their goal(s). That’s why they’re called “The Psychopath”. 2 The Sympathetic Villain (aka the one we’re supposed to feel sorry for) This is the type of villain that wants power, control and/or revenge and/or (rarely) wants to destroy the world and rule it their way. But this type of villain has an interesting backstory and a reason to be evil. Their motive can be very interesting and intriguing. It can be from childhood trauma, the hero or someone once being their friend but then leaving them or betraying them and more. They have experienced the emotion sadness and that broke them, they still have the sadness in them but they try not to show it. They have a weakness, they won’t destroy/kill whatever and/or whoever keeps them from achieving their goal(s). That’s why they’re called “The Sympathetic Villain”. From the looks of it Philip is “The Psychopath” villain.
Id say Phillip is more in line with a Sympathetic villain, the paintings show a lot about Belos's story: When Belos was a kid him and his brother were playing and pretending to be a witch and witch hunter, it seems they were pushed out of town for fantasizing about magic in a good light. Something Belos seemed to be upset about but was okay with as long as he was with his older brother. They eventually stumble upon the boiling isles at some point. It seems Belos was timid about the concept while his older brother was more like Luz, just beyond curious and in love with the isles. The older brother spends more time getting to know the isles resulting in him pushing away Belos more and more. Eventually the older brother gets married to a witch and gets the witch pregnant and starts a family, Belos gets upset as he think magic is bad because they are witch hunters and them liking magic got them pushed away from people, though it seems he may of just been more upset that his brother chose magic over him and maybe his brother didnt want to leave the boiling isles, causing a fight. (Belos may of thought witches were corrupting his brother's mind with magic or something) it also seems from the way the brother takes center stage in Belos's paintings that he may of been Belos's most important figure in his life during this time. The paintings then show a much darker rest of the story, he kills his brother with a blade, with his brother not wanting to fight. The paintings show flames consume his brothers corpse in the fight, seemingly with Belos casting magic to kill his brother. The paintings also show Belos slowly get corrupted by his arm sigils as well as put a knife up to his ears to cut them to look like witches ears. It also shows him dawn his mask and even shows his brothers dead corpse on a table, presumably being used to make the first Golden Guard. So Belos's story is he was born in an era where witches are seen as evil beings, and he had watched his brother slowly be "Corrupted" by such witches resulting in him killing his own brother. He then went against any and all magic due to his inherited belief that magic is evil and because if he does start seeing beauty in magic then he will have to come to terms with the fact that he killed his innocent brother, the person he always looked up to. Also Belos doesnt have any power hungry tendencies, he seems to try to use power and seek power to reach his goal but his goal itself isnt power, its the opposite, its to get rid of magic, seemingly in a way that wont kill all witches but instead take there magic and get rid of it while sparing the witches. (His plan seems to be take all the magic and direct it through the portal into the human realm where it will be destroyed and basically not exist anymore) (Also a Sympathetic villain could very much kill people to get what they want, having a sad backstory doesnt stop people from becoming murderers and killing anyone in there way in the belief that what they are doing is right, and a Sympathetic villain can also be power hungry to achieve there goals, as shown with Belos) (Also, a psychopath villain can have the same background as a Sympathetic villaian, they just dont know when to stop, but Belos does as he has a very clear goal in mind)
Hunter is my absolute favorite character in TOH. As a fellow 16 year old who has been taken advantage of and betrayed by people and having a naive mind sometimes I feel for Hunter. This episode hit close to home and I wish I could give Hunter a big hug. I hope he’ll be okay in the end because I genuinely teared up when Belos sucked him deeper into the mindscape hoping to kill him.
Rewatching this episode knowing that Kid Belos is actually just Belos in disguise, it's really funny to image Belos thinking "I'm so clever" as he runs around acting like a 6-year-old.
After watching this episode few hours ago, I still can't sleep. And now It's morning, and It's making me emotional. Belos deserve Death punishment after this.
Nu this episode hurt though. It was so..... hard to watch. But, on a bit more...debatable side of things, I kinda liked the collector. Their very interesting, and their a big mood. Also, I love their voice.
The amount of therapy I needed from this episode. I knew all of this was gonna go down and was still not prepared for it because of Hunter, my precious baby, my favorite character.
It was amazing how utterly wrong they both were about the inner Belos. I wanted to hope but no dude was rotten inside and out. I started to suspect when the kid would giggle ominously in the background after every memory like the whole thing was some sick joke or a game.
This episode was sad but for some reason I really love it especially the collector or was it the creator character . Like the voice actor of that did a good job giving it both child like yet evil vibe . You can tell the that character is doing to be bad and their design was also great even though it was basic but I fall in love with it even though they were on only for a minute
This is painful honestly, the episode was terrifying. But imagine you’re 9, on vacation, in a hotel room, your parents are at the annual pool party, never EVER watched Owl House before, and Hollow Mind starts playing on the tv. Oh I would be terrified. Okay but even with context it’s still terrifying.
My heart hurts. This is so painful to watch. I've watched the panic attack about 100 times now. It hurts SO MUCH every time. Oh hell here comes the tear train.
1. Denial: Hunter making excuses for Belos. 2. Anger: Yelling and calling himself an idiot. 3. Bargaining: Luz is actually the better example of this, when she offers Hunter a place to stay if they told Eda what was heard. 4. Depression: Hunter's broken down expression confronting Belos, realizing he's effed if he returns to the castle. 5. Acceptance: Sadly this...couldn't take just one episode to get through, as this part of the process doesn't grow until the end of 'Laberythn Runners'.
This episode is actually reall helpful for me because in this story I'm writing happens something incredibly similar. Basically the main character of my story is a soldier who learns the king she has been working for is corrupt and evil. She is told this by a character who used to be her best friend but then dissapeared and was presumed death. This episode helps me write how she feels after discovering everything she believed in was a lie and every authority figure she so loyally followed was a fraud.
I cry everytime I watch these scenes but with the little background music u added there, I couldn't help but laugh. Hunter is about to cry and had the little song in the background I was in tears of both feelings xD
Tho it’s so sad he’s had a traumatic past I’m glad that they made a “vulnerable” male character because I feel that boy are portrayed as the protector or the strong one

The unnamed Whittibane brother would be their great great great grandfather, and since Hunter is sort of like his son. The witch that, let's call him "Caleb Whittibane", fell in love with was pregnant when Phillip committed fratricide. Caleb's child would than be Eda & Lilith's great great grandfather. Since that unnamed Clawthorne was Caleb's kid, and in a way so is Hunter, that makes Hunter the great great granduncle.

We wanted the character development, we’re getting it, served to us with some trauma and a side of angst.
This is probably the only way we’re gonna get it. In order to remove yourself from
toxic situation, you have to first realize you’re in one in the first place. That’s the very first step to recovery.
@Red Balloon Yeah, he had to realize Belos was a bad person and that he doesn’t care about Hunter really, and there are other people like at the end of the episode Luz and Eda who do care about him. He needs to know things there are bad for him so he could leave and get to a place of good emotional health (hasn’t happened yet, but we’ll definitely see that in the show)

@@ihateeverythinggood7605 the cause of his curse was a combination of the glyphs and palisman I think; my theory is that he drew the glyphs on his arm to try and give himself magic, and it backfired; the magic tried to consume him (he did note to Luz how the glyphs consume whatever they're drawn on, and we see it every time Luz activates her glyph papers). He started consuming the souls of palisman to keep himself alive, he's practically a living corpse, rotting from the inside out. I think the palisman inside him were trying to stop him somehow, maybe even make him one of them (I've seen someone note how those gross green scars on his face look like palistrum wood).
He cursed himself by trying to survive his own fatal mistake.
Like I said, that's just my theory, and it almost certainly has some holes in it, but that's what I think based on what we know so far.

Do anyone else feel the connection between this episode and what happens when people get out of religions?
SPOILERS: yeah this reminded me a lot about ultra orthodox communities (not just in judaism, in all religions i forgot the specific word my apologies feel free to correct me), especially when looking at the key signs of being in a cult. My two theories for what might happen in the next episode is him going to start heal from that trauma Belos put him through, along with adjusting more after being stuck in a ultra orthodox community, which he seems to already be doing when he joined willow’s team and got a phone. My other theory is him taking this trauma unable to repress it any longer, and blaming it on humans maybe even specifically luz. Sort of similar to Varian, where he blamed rapunzel and did everything to take her down, since this is Disney though, he’ll probably have a realization moment like Varian and heal in a healthy form. i’m hoping it’s my first though because i don’t want him to go through more trauma :(

what if the titans beating heart is an illusion of some kind, afterall it seems pretty high up, it's forbidden to touch or be near certain parts of the titan and is guarded by belos so they can't touch it the same way they could and illusion of a person?
also could Phillips brother been named Caleb, it seemed like flashback gave him that name, and it's also suggested that he was there palisman.
which also leads me to think that Phillips brother excelled naturally in this realm and Phillips didn't sort of like eda and lilith, but unlike eda and lilith they never resolved the tension
I think the big catalyst for their tension was Caleb falling in love with a witch (we see a painting of him walking off with a seemingly pregnant witch as Philip stared disdainfully at some point in the episode)

I get hunter completely. He just wants an adult to approve of him so bad. Even the slightest compliment from someone who may have hurt you before will suck you in. I hope he joins eda and luz and is able to feel more belonged, finally have someone who actually appreciates him and will be true friends.

@@avery3333 something must have happend that belos saw as betrayl, because when he said "it still hurt everytime he chooses betray me" he said it in such away that emphasized it, kind of materialized the underlying emotions towards his brother that he grew to hate. Especially when you consider he used the pronoun he instead of they, I didn't seem like he was talking about the grimwalkers at that point think maybe it's like a Lilith and eda situation, that in the strange new world they ended up in that Phillips brother learned to adapt and use glphys faster and more effectively, even earning a palisman where as Philip. from there I think something happened to make Philip hate witches more and more until learning/ wanting to hunt them???

And it might have been a life or death situation involving wild magic, witches, glyphs, etc. But Philip managed to defeat his brother for he could be killed or left for dead..
@@avery3333 maybe, I defiantly believe he might of exceled faster, perhaps even getting a palisman granted by someone in one of the towns at some point (for some reason) perhaps from the witch he seemed to be in a relatationship with, that witch resembles eda when she had shorter hair, if this was edas ancestor and we already know the clawthornes have been palisman crafters for generations and I belive this is hinted at by the similarities in edas fathers palisman and hunters palisman. I think that they fell appart due to a number of things, one being one of the had more natural talent, likely the brother as he appears to be older and the brothers I think are designed to mirror eda and lilith (to an extent), this meant live in the boiling isles came easy to one and not the other I think this made one favored in the community and the other not so much, I think this caused Philip to experiment with even more complicated combos and eventually seeing what would happen if he were to try and harness them through his body giving him a curse, Philip was ashamed of his error and was comforted by his brother, at somepoint the portal door was made and the brother was in a relationship with a witch (which I think Phillip also would have been at least a little jealous of) I think she helped build the portal door I think that eventually once it was completed and the brothers were ment to return together but the brother wanted to stay and that is how the altercation started, as we have seen both Philip and is alterego belos are quick tempered, plus the lingering jealousy of his brother for years lead to an argument and than I fight with the brother lost. Then there is a witch that's seen fighting Phillip I think she was sfong enough to get him to flee but also perhaps what tipped him over the edge to hatred of witches

Maybe Belos/Philip killed his brother because he wasn’t doing exactly what he says.
And/or his brother was actually good unlike Belos/Philip and didn’t want to hurt anyone.
We know Philip is trying to wipe away the demon realm but if we look at the paintings in the background, unlike Philip, Philip’s brother who presumably was the original Golden Guard, must’ve grown found of the Demon Realm and like Luz at the beginning of season 1 wanted to stay there and live among witches.
I doubt Philip’s brother would want to hurt others. He probably didn’t even want to help Philip but Philip might’ve manipulated and/or guilt tripped him into it. Just like what he did with Hunter. Making him think that they’re the good guys and trying to help when in reality he’s the evil one.
Philip’s brother might’ve caught onto his schemes and his true intentions and tried to get away and to warn others and that’s when Philip/Belos killed him.
We know from “Elsewhere and Elsewhen” Philip is willing to sacrifice anything and everything to get what he wants so killing his own brother wouldn’t be so far fetch.
After killing his brother he must’ve needed a new “puppet” that would do whatever he says, so that’s why he made Grimwalkers, including Hunter. Since Hunter is most likely a Grimwalker since Belos said “Out of all the Grimwalkers you look the most like him.”
You might ask “Why?” “Why would Philip want to do such a thing? What’s his motive?” Well, not all villain need emotional backstories that makes you feel sorry for them.
There’s multiple types of a villains.
I’ll be discussing two of them.
1 The Psychopath
This is the type of villain that wants power, control, that wants to destroy the world and rule it their way.
This type of villain doesn’t really have a reason to take over the world besides being power hungry, they don’t have an interesting backstory, they just want control.
They don’t have the emotion sadness, they’ve never even experienced it.
They don’t have a weakness, they’re ready to destroy/kill whatever and/or whoever keeps them from achieving their goal(s).
That’s why they’re called “The Psychopath”.
2 The Sympathetic Villain (aka the one we’re supposed to feel sorry for)
This is the type of villain that wants power, control and/or revenge and/or (rarely) wants to destroy the world and rule it their way.
But this type of villain has an interesting backstory and a reason to be evil. Their motive can be very interesting and intriguing. It can be from childhood trauma, the hero or someone once being their friend but then leaving them or betraying them and more.
They have experienced the emotion sadness and that broke them, they still have the sadness in them but they try not to show it.
They have a weakness, they won’t destroy/kill whatever and/or whoever keeps them from achieving their goal(s).
That’s why they’re called “The Sympathetic Villain”.
From the looks of it Philip is “The Psychopath” villain.
Id say Phillip is more in line with a Sympathetic villain, the paintings show a lot about Belos's story:
When Belos was a kid him and his brother were playing and pretending to be a witch and witch hunter, it seems they were pushed out of town for fantasizing about magic in a good light. Something Belos seemed to be upset about but was okay with as long as he was with his older brother. They eventually stumble upon the boiling isles at some point. It seems Belos was timid about the concept while his older brother was more like Luz, just beyond curious and in love with the isles. The older brother spends more time getting to know the isles resulting in him pushing away Belos more and more. Eventually the older brother gets married to a witch and gets the witch pregnant and starts a family, Belos gets upset as he think magic is bad because they are witch hunters and them liking magic got them pushed away from people, though it seems he may of just been more upset that his brother chose magic over him and maybe his brother didnt want to leave the boiling isles, causing a fight. (Belos may of thought witches were corrupting his brother's mind with magic or something) it also seems from the way the brother takes center stage in Belos's paintings that he may of been Belos's most important figure in his life during this time.
The paintings then show a much darker rest of the story, he kills his brother with a blade, with his brother not wanting to fight. The paintings show flames consume his brothers corpse in the fight, seemingly with Belos casting magic to kill his brother. The paintings also show Belos slowly get corrupted by his arm sigils as well as put a knife up to his ears to cut them to look like witches ears. It also shows him dawn his mask and even shows his brothers dead corpse on a table, presumably being used to make the first Golden Guard.
So Belos's story is he was born in an era where witches are seen as evil beings, and he had watched his brother slowly be "Corrupted" by such witches resulting in him killing his own brother. He then went against any and all magic due to his inherited belief that magic is evil and because if he does start seeing beauty in magic then he will have to come to terms with the fact that he killed his innocent brother, the person he always looked up to.
Also Belos doesnt have any power hungry tendencies, he seems to try to use power and seek power to reach his goal but his goal itself isnt power, its the opposite, its to get rid of magic, seemingly in a way that wont kill all witches but instead take there magic and get rid of it while sparing the witches.
(His plan seems to be take all the magic and direct it through the portal into the human realm where it will be destroyed and basically not exist anymore)
(Also a Sympathetic villain could very much kill people to get what they want, having a sad backstory doesnt stop people from becoming murderers and killing anyone in there way in the belief that what they are doing is right, and a Sympathetic villain can also be power hungry to achieve there goals, as shown with Belos)
(Also, a psychopath villain can have the same background as a Sympathetic villaian, they just dont know when to stop, but Belos does as he has a very clear goal in mind)

Hunter is my absolute favorite character in TOH. As a fellow 16 year old who has been taken advantage of and betrayed by people and having a naive mind sometimes I feel for Hunter. This episode hit close to home and I wish I could give Hunter a big hug. I hope he’ll be okay in the end because I genuinely teared up when Belos sucked him deeper into the mindscape hoping to kill him.

Rewatching this episode knowing that Kid Belos is actually just Belos in disguise, it's really funny to image Belos thinking "I'm so clever" as he runs around acting like a 6-year-old.
After watching this episode few hours ago, I still can't sleep. And now It's morning, and It's making me emotional. Belos deserve Death punishment after this.
Nu this episode hurt though. It was so..... hard to watch. But, on a bit more...debatable side of things, I kinda liked the collector. Their very interesting, and their a big mood. Also, I love their voice.

It was amazing how utterly wrong they both were about the inner Belos. I wanted to hope but no dude was rotten inside and out. I started to suspect when the kid would giggle ominously in the background after every memory like the whole thing was some sick joke or a game.
This episode was sad but for some reason I really love it especially the collector or was it the creator character . Like the voice actor of that did a good job giving it both child like yet evil vibe . You can tell the that character is doing to be bad and their design was also great even though it was basic but I fall in love with it even though they were on only for a minute

This is painful honestly, the episode was terrifying. But imagine you’re 9, on vacation, in a hotel room, your parents are at the annual pool party, never EVER watched Owl House before, and Hollow Mind starts playing on the tv. Oh I would be terrified. Okay but even with context it’s still terrifying.
My heart hurts. This is so painful to watch. I've watched the panic attack about 100 times now. It hurts SO MUCH every time. Oh hell here comes the tear train.
Ok but HIS SENSE OF ✨INNOCENCE ✨
1. Denial: Hunter making excuses for Belos.
2. Anger: Yelling and calling himself an idiot.
3. Bargaining: Luz is actually the better example of this, when she offers Hunter a place to stay if they told Eda what was heard.
4. Depression: Hunter's broken down expression confronting Belos, realizing he's effed if he returns to the castle.
5. Acceptance: Sadly this...couldn't take just one episode to get through, as this part of the process doesn't grow until the end of 'Laberythn Runners'.
This episode is actually reall helpful for me because in this story I'm writing happens something incredibly similar. Basically the main character of my story is a soldier who learns the king she has been working for is corrupt and evil.
She is told this by a character who used to be her best friend but then dissapeared and was presumed death. This episode helps me write how she feels after discovering everything she believed in was a lie and every authority figure she so loyally followed was a fraud.
Hunter is my favorite character from the show, and my biggest comfort character, i guess you have a little idea of how destroyed this episode left me
