Thanks for your video. I kicked myself in the past for not purchasing an IC-R8500 before they were discontinued. Just saw one available brand new, unopened on ebay for $1,800 (originally listed for $2,000 but he lowered the price) and so snapped it up. Your video helped seal the deal😁 73s
I have had two of these fine receivers which for some reason I sold. Amazingly , I found an unused one at MLS a week or so ago. I have an AOR 8600 and an Icom R 8600 both of which are impressive. However, the R8500 is the one that I enjoy using the most. My Icom R8600 is more ‘advanced’ and has a better display and my Yaesu FTDX10 has a great deal of charm but there is something about the R8500 which is extra special. I am about to treat it to an Icom AH8000 discone for my main interests which is VHF/UHF aircraft. To say that I Am happy with my purchase is an understatement. 73s G6XYZ
One strange thing is that the MB-23 handle for the RADIO, which also has four screws, comes with the wrong screws. The manual even warns not to use the screws that come with the handle.
hello, but on the ic-r8500 there are 3 attacks for the antennas, but can I use only one (the uhf-vhf one) and put an antenna that starts from 30 KHz and reaches 2GHz and listen to the whole band?
Does the display just blink off and on and no receive on hf? ICOM no longer offers tech support on this radio. From what I've read this is a CPU problem.
Thanks for your video.

Is there a way to silence that annoying beep when pushing the buttons?
