      It’s been fun. The reality is, like a lot of these early proof of concept AI films, it’s both very flawed and full of potential.
      But there weren’t a lot of 2D animated attempts when it came out, so it upset the anti-AI and professional animator crowds, and got 5.2m views on Twitter alone.
      I ended up getting paid to make an upcoming animated series because of it, so the hatred brought me the best commercial opportunity I’ve ever had.

    What is the AI used to create this type of image?

    • @TheReelRobot
      @TheReelRobot  Год назад +2

      I used Midjourney to create the images. Lots of keywords like “hand drawn Japanese animation”. Then I trained this tool/model on how to help me get the same style:

    • @j0shj0shj0sh
      @j0shj0shj0sh Год назад +3

      OK that's impressive. I work in a traditional animation studio and it would def take a team of people longer than that. Although there would probably be more character animation, but still... definitely a very good starting point.@@TheReelRobot

    • @TheReelRobot
      @TheReelRobot  Год назад +4

      @@j0shj0shj0sh very cool. Contrary to what it might look like, I think and want professional animation to thrive.
      What I'm hoping for is that you can use AI to automate more of the semi-static shots (dialogue and dramatic scenes), and focus your resources on the action that AI is probably not going to be able to do well.
      Then projects are going to get out much quicker and you get to focus on the work you're most proud of.

    • @j0shj0shj0sh
      @j0shj0shj0sh Год назад +1

      Yes I can see it working well like that. A studio can pool its resources more effectively. An Art Director/compositor could take care of a lot of a films run time, whilst a team of character animators and FX artists could tackle key moments and action sequences et cetera.@@TheReelRobot

    • @fallabeaufaebelle
      @fallabeaufaebelle Год назад

      @@TheReelRobothopefully AI creates better situations for animators. Animators these days can get overworked and underpaid to keep up with consumerism demands. Used ethically, AI can expedite rough draft and conceptualizing processes and be used to aid artists in the more tedious phases of animation and design. This lets creative folks refine more efficiently as well as they have more time now and got their ideas down faster. The creative spark lasts longer throughout a project this way.
      This is especially going to be helpful for indie and low budget studios who normally wouldn’t be able to keep up with the labor demands and cost of big budget studios such as Disney. An upside to having easy access to new tech and knew knowledge often yields creative renaissance, so I feel there’s a lot of hope for artists and other creatives concerning the future of AI.
      While people are right to have wariness of AI and it’s great to talk about the negatives, the positives are also super important. People are afraid of this tech because they don’t understand it yet, but it’s quickly going to become the norm whether they’re on board or not. It’s best to dive into all aspects of it so we can better grasp the tech, understand the ethics and how to regulate it appropriately, and be sure creative industry continues to thrive.

    can you share the prompt to make the video with this kind of style .

    • @TheReelRobot
      @TheReelRobot  Год назад +3

      The style of the old man, etc was mostly done with reference images and some tricks - not so much a prompt.
      I was using a prompt that had “hand drawn animation, 2D animation, highly detailed, muted colors” and put -c 10 at the end to help experiment.
      After getting an image that looked like that style, I would copy the image address, paste it into the next prompt, and put “-iw 0.5” at the end so it would match the style.
      After I got a few of those I just took it all to EverArt which you can see me do in this video:
