Sad to hear Ring Railway is gone. 😢 I had a lot of memories with my father taking joy ride from Seva Nagar to our home in Lodhi Road on local train. He passed away during Covid, and I was thinking of travelling on the route again. Got to know from this video, it won't happen now. 😢
Before 1972, Steam loco used to haul a twelve coach passenger train from Safdarjng station to New Delhi Station covering Sarojini Nagar-Lodhi Colony-Sewa Nagar-Lajpat Nagar-Hajarat Nizammudin-Tilak Bridge-Shivaji Bridge. In 1972, it was converted to ring railway and it was hauled by a small shunting engine. In 1982, EMU was introduced on this route. During Covid-19 pandemic, it was closed.
i have lived in both kolkata and delhi and i can tell u why , In kolkata the circular rail (chokro rail) has stations that are strategically placed and has no direct competitor , in delhi , the stations are kinda isolated from main areas and delhi metro with its great designing and vast network kicked out the ring railway from picture ( kolkata metro is very small compared to delhi metro , DMRC is spans over 300 kms whils KMRC spans just over 50 kms)
लम्बी दूरी की गाड़ियों से पुरी दिल्ली रेल नेटवर्क बहुत बिजी हो गया। पटेलनगर से निजामुद्दीन के बीच तो लंबी दूरी की गाड़ियां ही नहीं संभालती। डीटीसी का भारा काफी काफी कम था। रेलवे का ध्यान आज भी लम्बी दूरी की गाड़ियों पर है।

लेकिन दिल्ली की सबअर्बन रिंग रेलवे तो अंग्रेजों ने बनाई थी.... इसी रिंग रेलवे में लोधी कॉलोनी रेलवे स्टेशन और लाजपत नगर रेलवे स्टेशन आता है जो कि बंटवारे के समय से ही ऑपरेशनल है क्योंकि इस रूट से बहुत से यात्री बंटवारे के टाइम हिंदुस्तान से पाकिस्तान और पाकिस्तान से हिंदुस्तान आए थे तो ये 1975 में कैसे बनी???🤔
I am not sure why, but the reason maybe most places have similiar spellings in Hindi and Maithili (as both officially use Devanagari script, instead of Tirhuta script for Maithili) so no need to write the same name twice. The name written can be considered both Maithili and Hindi.

kolkata mein bhi circular railway hain, wo bhi chalu hain..
