I felt that your Orc Bloody Beginner Guide from July 2022 was still way too advanced for a true beginner like me. I guess it's easy to overlook how little people know about the game when you've played thousands of hours yourself. This video covers a lot more of the bases (hotkeys, grouping, etc.) so this is a great improvement in my book!
I do like how he pointed out you can ignore the micro he is doing for some of the camps etc. It is a good note, both that you dont need to as a beginner, BUT also shows you a bit of what you should be striving for
I have been learning your orc skills since 2008. I have always been a big fan of you, and then I found out that you have a RUclips account! My orc king!❤❤❤
I just got bought a pc. Last time I played Warcraft 3 was when i was like 13 (28 now) Def gnna need all the help I can get with these Guides. THANK YOU MR.GRUBBY ❤🎉
Can you please also do a bloody beginner hotkey guide or a general knowledge guide? Like hotkeys that are used very often to rarely but have their use, patrolling units or queuing up their paths. Facts important to know. Cant wait for the NE bloody beginner guide since i tend to Play them more often but i am still at the early Stage of rts skill.
Thanks for this Grubby! I haven't played WC3 for aaaages and got back to it because of your enthusiasm. I used this build in an Orc mirror and whooped someones ass with it. I even managed to get two hero surrounds off with the raiders :D
It feels so balanced now. Mirror Image and Windwalk both contribute to different strategies. Wind Walk is fantastic for harassing creeping heroes and worker lines and denying expansions, so it's perfect for rush strategies. Mirror Image is great for fast creeping and scouting, so it's great for helping to build towards the late game.
Hey, u made me so curious about the term bloody beginner, so i looked it up xD. And as a german "blutiger Anfänger" does not rly comes from the relation to hurt urself. The Blood term comes from the way it was used back in the day, for example ppl used to say bloodyjung or something like bloodyfew. Its just to exaggerate the normal term. So bloodybeginner just means u are a REAL beginner like no knowledge at all. So the Skiteacher was kinda reaching there haha. Thanks for the Vid!
Protip: Don't leave items behind like at 10:50. :) Seeing how "g for grunt" was mentioned: What do you all think about the grid hotkeys setting they introduced since the reforged update? It puts the 3x4 rows of actions and spells on the hotkeys q w e r a s d f z x c v no matter what unit or building is selected. Would it be easier for new players to start with this scheme?
I'm still trying to get used to the grid, not sure if the old hotkeys are better as old hotkeys use letters that are in the names of units/buildings/spells, which is awesome to me! Like you Coil a unit with DK is C, Storm Bolt is T since of course S is Stop button, etc.
Grid is essential. There's no reason to use default keys unless youre an ol pro with giant hands like Grubby. Unless you've been playing g every day for 20 years, you will have to look at your keyboard to reliably hit a default hockey. They're scattered all over the keyboard and often require you to move your hand away from your conteoll groups. Looking down and moving your hand degrades your ability to pay attention and react to the game. If you use defaults instead of grid, you're handicapping youself. With grid, all the keys you need are confined to one third of the board, conveniently located right under your army and hero hockey's and near your idle worker key. You gain tremendous efficiency having all your building keys grouped together, and having spells on Z, X, C, regardless of unit. Having move, stop, hold, attack and patroll keys all together makes subtle movements easier, surrounds especially. If you play random and use defaults, you have 4 sets of keys to learn. If you use Grid it's just one.
@@Cra3ieryourself. Which is easier to remember, a different key for each and every spell in the game, or that 1st spell(or castable ability) on any unit is always Z, 2nd spell is always X, and 3rd spell is always C, with hero ultimate always V? All your spells, right in a row, no matter what race or unit it is. It's way easier to remember the position of a key in reference to the grid visible on your screen all bunched up to one aide than to try and remember if it's the first letter of an ability or the last.
When should you T3? And if the game gets long because you and your opponent are scrubs that can't kill each other whats a good unit comp to make to finish?
Which guide is better in the long run, this one or the previous one with Far Seer? I will do 50 games in a row with one of thos guides. I have plenty of WC3 experience, but I did not play for fwe years now. Thanks for answer!! :)
Of course to play orc at the highest level it takes incredible skill. But if you are just picking up wc3 orc or ne are mostly the recommended races to start out since it's relatively easy to pick them up compared to ud or hu. But I'm sure theres lots of ppl who disagree with that
Of course to play orc at the highest level it takes incredible skill. But if you are just picking up wc3 orc or ne are mostly the recommended races to start out since it's relatively easy to pick them up compared to ud or hu. But I'm sure theres lots of ppl who disagree with that
Great one. But... the blade master is very hard to use when we are beginner. i Think that using the Farseer is better to begin without losing too fast !!!
love this build, especially the flexibility once you get through building the kodo. I am new to orc, so question, when you say pick your next units based on counters, what are the good counters for what? Also I know most orcs often get shamans for the dispel etc, is that something you can transition into from here or what that be a very different build?
So I jumped into a custom game against AI to try this out. Two custom games in fact. The problem I was having is that I was just getting way less lumber from my 7 lumber peons. First T2 was delayed because bot enough lumber so when I could finally start it I was floating 250 gold and decided to make a 5th grunt. After third burrow, shop, brute strength and warmill, I do not have enough lumber for bestiary, while in the video theres like 500 at that point. so thats delayed. No lumber for expo, and suddenly Im floating like 700 gold. I end the game floating 8000 gold and having no lumber
Used to play WC3 way back. Decided to pick it back up. Got a question, because I hope to not go back to bad habits from before. Besides just not being fast enough, I never came up with a way to control units that felt entirely clean or comfortable. It would be too long to go into it all, but here is one example. So say all your units are in a group mapped to 1. You hit 1 and focus fire the enemy. Now you notice the enemy is focusing your unit so you pull him back. At the exact same time he pulls his unit, so now you need to refocus your fire. If you hit 1 to select units and FF, you will pull your hurt unit back in. Am I supposed to reset my group in the middle of fighting? I don't think I'm fast enough to do that. Or am I supposed to just just abandon the group and start click dragging my units so it doesn't include hurt ones?
When I get raiders, I don't win battles against human. Siege damage is fine against buildings, but the human just turtles behind the expansion's towers, and I can't break through. They expand so easily, and if you're not able to punish them for it, you're screwed.
so after the opening and you start building units to counter him.. is it just a back and forth of you both countering eachother? Like, you start by countering him.. he responds by countering what you built, rinse repeat?
Can you (or anyone) explain some skill choices for the heroes? Why Mirror Image over Wind Walk? I understand it's better for creeping, is it because harass is too much for a beginner? In the same vein though, why Hex over Healing Wave? I feel like Healing Wave is definitely the easier choice?
this game is a lot more competitive than I remember. you are clicking all over the place constantly. this is like a super mario speed run down to the frames, it's not even fun anymore.
I always watch but don’t follow every update. Any one know why mirror image is being used a lot more? Did they change it or was it just a shift in the meta?
The tutorial should start explaining that you should go scout and haras your opnonet with your first hero to make him slow down in his progress, this is like for bronze play tutorial if you want to get annoyed pretty fast by other players, but at least the build order is nice and handy not gona lie, otherwise me building a first peon, opponent comes already wih a hero and harassing my production line :D and i read somewhere its less annoying then in starcraft :D yeah sure buddy, its even more annoying because of clunky movement lack of defenses which relies on the clunky movement and poor speed and hp of workers
@@DomagojSkiljan But once it dies the grunt starts tanking anyway, so why not just leave it with 1 hit hp at the back? Is that 1 hit actually worth more than the damage it will continue to do while it expires.
@@ivarorno simply not worth the apm for the most part, the damage is so isnanely low, that it doesn't make a difference, also the creeps can just hit it again or the poison could kill it
@@norberthiz9318 Fair enough, it feels he usually has plenty of apm to spare in those situations and he does plenty of other marginal stuff, with peon macro and such.

I was wondering why a tutorial video lasted 9 mins. Unless it was a tutorial in how to tower rush.
