My favorite content from you. You do it better than anyone here in the states, consistent TV quality adventures 🙏
I love how resilient you are to be out there in the freezing cold, and to that to make a interesting video❤
BABE WAKE UP SMOOTH GEF**T HAS POSTED
i'm glad you're back!
Nice to see you take care of yourself with snacks and warm clothing. Always better that way. The more layers the better experience. Everything right. The warming up before going to sleep. The stacked layers. Good job.
I have a Bic lighter living in my pocket.. Most versatile and important piece of equipment that you can conveniently carry in my opinion
Great video as always!
Long time no see but back in style..Great stuff.
bear spray is never overkill. better safe than sorry.
Hello, my friend
Thank you for the great video.
I love your channel! Have a happy day.👍🏼
I always carry an extra pair of longsleeve base layers in my kit, one for me, one for my partner - but then, I'm only in the UK!
The quality of your videos just gets better and better Julius.
Respect for the bear thing. At least the beer won't come and get you now.
😂
🤣😂🤣😂
Great stuff. I havnt watched you for ages but I'm glad I spotted your film today. Always enjoy your content and I find I dont fast forward, you keep me interested. Always just good gritty challenges that are real without any of the bullsh*t from most.
I always have a lighter with some form of shelter and a knife like the one you were carrying. Either a tarp or a group shelter ( probably because I work Outdoors with groups every day) . Fantastic job as usual.

9:23 I took an extra coat on my day hikes recently. Hiking in thermal underwear and an unzipped hoodie was way more than enough in 0°C but when I stopped moving for a few minutes I needed that coat and was still a little too cold.
Anticipating the Round house project, all the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏 Batavia Coast 🇦🇺
Always great content! Very excited to see you loading up content again! Great to see you! You are always taking great challenges! My respect!
Really enjoy your videos! Watch a lot of camping channels and you’re is up there with the best
"Starting to get a little cosy" - you and I have greatly different opinions of cosy...
XD
Great to see you again Julius!
uhhh i´ll be waiting for this!! chears guys
The quality of your videos get´s better with every vid, great job on the editing and creating new content! I really enjoy watching them. The spruce branches in the vid look more like fir though :)
Good point, it's the european silver fir indeed
@@SmoothGefixt Yea, that's what I thought. Should make a difference in sleeping comfort compared to spruce :) But still mad respect for you for sleeping outside in a self built shelter to create content for us viewers. I know how tough it can be sleeping outside in freezing temperatures and I prefer sitting on the couch, eating chips and watching someone else doing the job :D Keep up the good work mate :)
You are by far my favourite content creator. 😊 your amazing.
That was pretty cool, didn't think that would work so well.
7:58 I guess because of the freezing cold, those branches can be pretty tough.
I never thought you would fit in that shelter 🤣
Fetall postion, you know yourself;)
@@SmoothGefixt Yep, I'm 6'4" have to curl up to keep my ankles on the mattress at home 🤣🤣🤣
A person who may get lost in the woods, in unfavorable conditions should learn these most basic tips to survive the night. Doesn't take much. Don't panic and keep the proper attitude. Daylight will come . Really good video.
Bear spray useless unless you are fantastic aim, no wind and don't get ambushed. Oh yeah, and don't panic. In other words, good luck!
Thanks, there are no guarantees in life
@@SmoothGefixt agree, be safe
More of these!!
It's great that you create these realistic scenarios. That adds an extra level of usefulness. Great channel.
In my outdoor-active days, I did carry a fire kit, not in my day pack but actually my canteen "pouch." I had a canteen with a canvas cover and belt clip, not popular these days. But I carried very small survival items inside the cover: fire kit, fishhooks and line, and emergency blanket. Once for fun (we didn't say "survival challenge" back then) I spent a night with just that and a knife. I slept in a shelter made with sticks tied together with fishing line, wrapped in emergency blanket, made a fire and caught a tiny fish.
Good stuff mate, thanks for sharing
I have a esbit stove with fuel in one side pocket of my canteen holder, & water purification tabs on the other side
Emergency space blanket + skis, ski poles = fine reflective top for your shelter.
My recom. Is to fix space blanket with duct tape to your helmet .or in your innner pocket alvays when you go outdors. One or too litle candles + lighter makes you bomb proof !
Great input!
yeessssss, been waiting for your update!
Really enjoy ur content! Some professional stuff to see here and even the video work is great 👍 thanks and keep on going mates
Want to try this myself! Awesome!
Awesome!
Very cool tips😉👍 congrats on surviving
Great video, good info. Thanks.
A road flare and a 5x7 tarp would be my top choices for additions to that daypack.
Great stuff pal! Tough, but very involving atmosphere
I love the survival videos
That’s the content I’m exited about
nice thanks enjoyed a lot
Gouwe video Julio!
Yes! This is why I am sub to this channel 💪🏼
Love it. Entertainment and Education. Perfect 👍
Great video
My Daybag for woods/water contains; 8x8 tarp, poncho, wool blanket, metal canteen & cup, ferro rod, 6” full tang knife, 50’ of paracord, 2 mre meals broken down, small FAK, flashlight [2 cell], extra batteries.
Sweet
Cool (ha!) video and adventure Julius. Take care about nature! All the best from Oregon, USA.
Wat een fantastisch en effectief idee, zo'n nest!
WONDERFUL VID, jULIUS !!!
How's Dylan !
Great to see ya !
Let’s go!
its like les stroud survival situation!
keep it up ❤️
Yeeeeeeees HYPED
well done
That was a wonderful survival video and I ever watched all my life? ?good bless yaa. . ! !
I threw out the pack cover that was attached by an elastic band in a bottom, zippered pocket & replaced it with a military poncho. I have a summer weight down camping blanket that packs into a litre compression sack. I also placed cordage in the pocket with the poncho. Always bring a compas & a lighter. Oh, and a multi tool
My man, long time no see, been waiting your videos, love from South Borneo❤
Ik vind het fantastisch wat je doet! Dit soort survival situaties zelf uitproberen! Groot respect!!!
Yeah! A survival video! Thanks, Julius! Good to see you back. My "daypack" is really a light overnight pack - but I carry an emergency bivy and a Heat Sheet and not a sleeping bag. The REI ten and the Bushcraft 10, a Grayl, a first aid kit, a poop kit and sasquatch investigation gear.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing
Hows the ireland adventure?
@@SmoothGefixt Unfortunately, we'll make it over next year. My preschool where I've worked for 9 years is out of business next week, so I'm out of work. But hopefully next year! Thanks for remembering :) Would still love to meet up :)
You did good bro
Un vrai homme des bois !
Nice
Eeeeeeeeeeer meeeeeeeeeeer geeeeeeeeeerd, its Smooth time❤
Haha, whattttttt??? Eeeeeeeeeeeeee...
i was in the scouts as a kid, so anytime I go hiking or hill walking or any sort of out in the woods or wild for the day i always have an extra warm layer and an extra pair of warm socks, some sort of packed lunch/food (depending on how long I'm expecting to be out or where I'm going will decide whether its just a lunch, trail snacks or 1 or more meals), tea/coffee and a metal camp mug, a metal water bottle, (at least a liter), a lighter or ferro rod, a swiss army knife (or depending on the location a full-size camp knife) depending on the time of year and weather and where i'm going i will pack a sleeping bag and poncho or just a poncho, a small first aid kit and a space blanket, and depending on how long i was expecting to be out for 1 or 2 battery packs to charge my phone..........and id probably have my camera and drone with me as well.
🔥🔥🔥
SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH gefixed jonge!!!
the beginning sounds like a scary horror.. hahaha scary and nice directing work hahha smooth
Smooth gefixt ouwe!
I think Julian is not aware how many people are smokers. Bringing lighters everywhere XD

Great Huge Bear: Well SOMEBODY’s been at MY porridge - AND THERE HE IS SLEEPING IN THE BOWL !!!
Love this video, move like this please 🙏
if i’m going out on a hike i probably have my first aid kit which i always keep a small lighter in
❤❤❤❤
Hhaha 2 bear attacks is a lot yes. Cool video really liked it. Great improv on the snow wall there. Looks couzy.
Nice one! thanks:)
Smooth gefixt, ouwe.
Excellent video. The thing missing from 99.99999٪ of other bushcraft and survival videos these days is a sense of real urgency and danger. People just go through the motions. What happened to "will I make it out of here?" " Will I survive?"
There are a billion how to videos on RUclips. I appreciate them all. But sometimes the urgency of a desperate situation grips the viewer and makes it infinitely more interesting and exciting. Even if there's no real danger or urgency. At least give us a scenario that faximilates a real situation. Otherwise, it's just the two billionth and two'th boring bushcraft video that we've all seen ad nauseum, Ala Joe Robinette, etc etc etc.
Thanks for the great video. Thanks for not being another lame Joe Robinette.
I’m not going to name any names but I agree with what you’re saying.
Most ‘bushcraft and survival’ channels are really just there to plug products and show the viewer nothing (except how to eat pizza round a campfire instead of in an armchair).
Maybe some channels started out with good intentions, but hey, they say that the road to hell is paved with ‘em! 😂😂
Yes, this did inject a sense of urgency. It’s difficult to do that with videos that tell you all the gear that they used is in the links and that they will receive a small commission at no expense to you if you click on them, yada yada yada.
I’ve even seen guys begging you to help them get to 1,000 subs so that they can advertise ‘merch’, regardless of the fact that they have delusions that they can make a living without working because they are going to be a ‘RUclipsr’.
Everyone is ‘entitled’ these days! 😂😂
I don’t know why you don’t make more videos. You are literally the most credible and likeable survivalist on the planet/RUclips 😂
Hi Julius.
Kind of looked like a bath tub full of spruce boughs. 🛀😀
Yoo wraijth, hope you enjoyed this one. Hope next winter I can execute your shelter idea exactly as you described it. Cheers!
Very good video that's what you call survival 😂
Putting snow on top might have been more viable if you had a tarp or some other large sheet material that could stop it from falling down. But, most people don't carry something like that unless they plan on staying out the night, so it makes sense you wouldn't have included such an item for the scenario you were simulating.
Plain old matches are still perfectly viable as an emergency lighter. They´re easy to source and, if need be, replace, require little more skill to use than a lighter, and they´re not temperature sensitive like gas or liquid fuel lighters. Just by a glance you can tell how many lights you still have left, or if any of them are unusable.
I personally use a small screw container with storm proof matches as my emergency lighter. There were about a dozen of them loosely in there when I bought it, so I used a few to see how they behave and packed the container tight with regular matches, a birthday candle, moisture absorber and an extra striker surface. Now the container keeps about thirty lights.
It is a good idea though to have them all head down in a container. If you packed matches head up and head down alternating you might be able to carry more, but chances are you make some of them unusable when trying to get one out with clammy fingers. For the same reason they should also be packed just so loose that you can shake them into your hand if you cant pinch a single one with cold fingers.
amazing..and my dude building it all in ski boots 💪✨️😄 awesome...great survival content and what hits at first second is how honest everything feels you do 👏 to me thats genuine survival teaching. I respect you...keep up the AMAZING work 💪 my SUB shall be yours now ✨️ greets from Switzerland 🇨🇭👋
Bear spray? Lol...laughes in 12 ga slug
Great vid! It shows how much a mylar blanket, tarp, and fire kit could make this experience potentially more comfortable and or survivable. 🙏
🤣🤣🤣Best ever, No 🐻BEAR 🍺🐻❄will ever find you in your hide-out, he might be even sleeping on top of you for his winter sleep.
GREAT survival Julius SMOOT GEFIXED Gappie☀
Jij ook tochhhhhh xD
put a BIC Lighter in your pack, day, night, short term, long term....it may save your life...and those who say they don't work, when really cold...takee the lighter out, before gathering wood and put in an interior pocket, close to body...by time you done gathering firewood, it will be, plenty warm...easy to light
MAAAAN, i m so disappointed you didnt say "beer" instead of "bear", i was really hoping you d carry beer spray again with you on the treck 🤣🤣🤣
i've slept on frozen ground, wih just 4 layers of cheap cotton clothing, 1 pair of socks, unlaced shoes, beanie, gloves and an army field jacket. 3 mornings, , I woke up with snow dusting on me. All of the debris was wet/rotten/useless. 30F is nothing much, when you're properly clothed, dry and out of the wind.
Problem with bears is they can come upon you quickly not giving you time to respond.
Finally
You say you don’t carry a lighter but try taking one with but no fluid in it and see if you can start a fire with it. And demonstrate how to use different tinder methods like using the lint off your clothing. Or carry and demonstrate using magnesium/flint bar. I think that would be nice to add to the scenario
e is victorious
When you really think about it. This scenario isn't all that staged from a real one and it's crazy... Ok we know he's definitely not lost or stranded and his phone may not be dead, but surely THAT high into a mountain you would have no reception and once nightfall happens there's no way you would be finding your way safely down a mountain regardless. Not to menion he's not in his home country and there's no way for any of his friends that may be with him on the trip to know his exact location (unless he printed out a gps location and drew them a marker).
This scenario he set up was quite literally a suvival situation he put himself in and that deserves huge respect because instead of sleeping the night in a nice and cozy hotel, he put himself into a situation that very easily had the potential to become dire
Thanks a lot for sharing the appreciation like that
Couldn’t the skis and poles have been used? Support for a roof of spruce branches?
Wild how you didn't see the bear staring at you from the darkness behind at 10:03
No wayyyy!':)
@@SmoothGefixt gotcha ;)
I would definately bring a lighter probably multiple.. and an extra sweater lol possibly some more extra clothing incase I got very cold cuz I hate being cold. Also no one is going to tell you that the bear spray is overkill. If anything id say thats underkill.
HOLY FLIPPING DUCK Excrement let's goooooooo!
