- Let’s Talk!!! GREY BLENDING and What You NEED To Talk About With Your Client
This can be a tough service to do with your client, but hopefully after watching this you’ll have clarity on how to navigate the consultation.
Grey blending is a specially service and should be charged as such.

I wish clients knew how often we actually end up doing corrective color without charging for it. Thank you for this video!
That is very true! I’m over those days tho and I hope you are too!
Communication is the key..... Thanks❤
100%!!!
I love that you did this video. Because there are allot of clients with unrealistic expectations and they don't have the budget or the time to achieve what they want. So thank you for breaking it down. So that way we can be more confident behind the chair❤
Your welcome!
I also personally don't agree with the woman not wanting to pay. Even if it didn't turn out how she wanted it, she still had services done and this stylist spent time on her. That's her income! For the majority of us, if we mess up something at work (and you could argue the stylist didn't even mess up..the woman just wasn't happy which is subjective) we still legally have to be paid, so it should be the same for stylists.
Right! I just posted a short in response to this…. And said the same thing. Time is still money!
So true sometimes they think we are magicians!
Love your work Kristi. Can you tell me where you are located in Washington. I would love to book an appt with you... Ty
I agree with you completely. I went in for highlights over darker demi color. Knowing some color theory, I knew that lifting in a careful way would reveal more warm/orange tones, regardless of the toner over the top. My new amazing stylist double toned to help with the brass, but it eventually turned more orange. I knew lifting any more would have compromised my hair so I had to go in with an expectation of warmer hair in spite of my love for ashy blonde.
It really is tough! I have clients coming in for this and by the time I tone them Warner and they still insist on ashy, I have to tone even darker to eliminate the warmth and then it looks like we didn’t even do anything. So now I’m charging $300 for a huge service that looks the same as when she walked in…..
My issue is I have some gray at the root so I use an opaque demi (Kenra 6NUA) to cover them, but still want some brightness as well. I wasn't sure exactly what to ask for because I knew I would lift just fine mids to ends, but near the root to above the ear, it is very warm. I remember you warning blondes who wanted to go darker for fall then later wanting to lighten that the end result would be warmer. I'm just trying to get use to the warmth instead of fighting it. I have always wanted to be a hair colorist because there's a bit of nerdy girl science mixed in with creative artistry. Your job isn't easy, but I appreciate seeing more of your content!❤
Damn yall are expensive!!
Thank you I have no color on my hair right now it is very faded blonde level 6 want a partial just on top darker underneath could you do a video on that Thank you 💜edit put it to you this way I haven't colored my hair in about 6 years it shoulder length have some gray along my hairline I'm not trying to go blonde or the platinum card just highlights on top darker underneath
If I could choose anyone to do my hair it would definitely be you your great colorist 💜
How do you make your schedule? 1 client a day for color? Because you dont know how long it could last? Or cuts in the morning and color afternoons?
I do two colors a day average 3-4 hours each…. I only have a handful of haircut clients
Great info🎉
Thank you!
