My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had his kidney removed. He had it last week… this video is so hopeful! I am so happy for Jack and his family. It’s a scary time and I appreciate these videos.
I have one important suggestion please have regular pet ct scans periodically atleast evry 6months. Check with your doctor regrading how aggressive was the tumor and can ur husband take immunotherapy in advance to avoid reoccurring or metastasis. My father went thru Left kidney radical nephrectromy in 2019 and went into remission. He didn't follow up regularly thru pet scan and when he fell ill in June 2022 he was diagnosed with metastatic RCC in lungs, IVC, adrenal gland and liver. He has started combination therapy (immunotherapy+Tki) pembrolizumab plus Axitinb. After 4 cycles his pet ct scan showed 70% reduction of tumor overall from baseline. Stay positive and don't forget regular scans. ✌️

@@rkvlogs8082 he had to discontinue immunotherapy bcz of side effects. Although old tumors have shown reduction in size but new ones formed so he is on cabozintanib 40mg now. He also took whole brain radiation for mets to brain which is now gone as per new pet scan. He is doing good now. I hope this medicine does wonders for him.🤞

@@rkvlogs8082 he had to stop immunotherapy due to side effects. Although his old tumors were shrinking new ones formed. So they changed his meds to Cabozintanib 40mg. He is doing good now. New tumors are also shrinking. 🤞
We are told the patient had a radical nephrectomy, but when he told his story, he didn't mention if it was before or after he did the other treatments. Seems it was before by listening to the timeline. I thought usually surgery is 1st, then the immunotherapy.
