Thank you so much for this! I have HORRID dark circles under my eyes in a recent video I recorded due to lighting, and I'm going to try and track them with this technique.
I've found a way to track the matte ! first you get the tracker information as usual, tracking some spot or more... and then you apply the tracker data to a null object, then you create an adjustment layer just in top of the layer you want to apply the tracked mask to... and you draw the mask in that adjustment layer, then you link or parent that adjustment layer with mask to the null object and finally you set the track matte of the layer below to alphe matte to the adjustment layer... i hope this helps :D
Maybe it can be helpful to you: ctrl+right/left arrow = you can step 1 sec shift+arrows = you can move the mask It makes the work more easier if you need to move mask many times
Hello there, I might be replying too late but for others facing the same issue, you have to select your Composition instead of selecting a Layer. You can choose what to click in the left upper corner of your video editor. I was facing the same issue, then I accidently clicked on it and I was like wtf it worked. Hard days of newbie on AE :D
Thank you! My skin is usually pretty clear & of course for shooting day... Bam! Big ol' blemish on my face! I don't think my clients want me making them a commercial with their actress broken out. They don't have to know now. lol
I thought Premiere had a steep learning curve until I cracked open After Effects. Ha ha! Stupid powerful software, but as the saying goes, "With great power, comes a great many buttons and menus." Wait, that's not the saying?
Got it right off this time! =D Can NOT wait for auto tracking! This is already a game changer, but that would speed up the process incredibly. Right now 80-99% of the work (depending on the complexity and length of the shot) is manually tracking the mask.
that was good and worth appreciation but its obvious that you dont track the mask to spend more time for the video and that not cool i had to watch another video to learn that but you could covered up easily but Utilitarianism did its job
dude. You should not be making tutorials if you aren’t 100% sure how to do things. auto loaded in a playlist and I had to comment to save people from this. No. Just no. Track the blemish in mocha, use THAT mask for content aware. Saved you all a lot of tedious work.

Love it! So glad to hear it helped you, Reesa. =)
Why don't you use tracker?
may i ask why dont you use motion track to track the mask? tracking it manually may take a lot of time. Apart from that, great tut. thanks
Watched till the end and i know why haha
Still trying to get a grasp on AE so this is going to help! I just might have to use this for my latest video... I'll let you know if I do. Thanks!

The little box that says alpha is not showing up on mine. trying to figure out where it is.
I don't have a "generate Fill Layer' button on my screen like u do. Can u point out where that may be in the newer version?
I have the same problem. Did you figure it out?
Are you looking into the "Content-Aware Fill" Window? Make sure to have that window visible by going to "Window" and enabling "Content-Aware Fill".
this worked for me but at some point, I have to do it again and see, my footage turned yellow
Great info, hope you didn't have too much trouble washing off that marker.😆 Auto tracking would be a home run!

Super useful and super short. Awesome stuff & thank you!
Glad it was helpful! =)
Super helpful! Thank you!
I’m trying to edit something like this on an app on my phone. Is there a phone app you’d recommend? I didn’t see this in an app format.
Cannot get tracking to work in Premier Pro. Will not work. I don't have AE. Maybe I should get it.
Wish it was that easy in real life (;
Be sure to have the mask selected before you click on "Generate Fill Layer"
Great video. Thanks.
Glad it helped you, Greg!

You are so welcome!
Can you do this on an iphone?
If you mean can it be edited like this on an iPhone, no. Currently it's only available via the desktop Adobe After Effects program. Sorry. =(
where to get this plugin ...can anyone help??
Hi, Neha! No plug-in; it's naively inside of Adobe After Effects, version 16.1 or later. =)
what version do u use?
I usually use the very latest CC version. For this particular video, I was running 13.1.
