Daily update from onboard trimaran Spirit XL. This is day 7 of our pacific crossing and Claudia did the daily update for all as I was cooking up a storm in the galley ;-)
Interesting to hear about the fresh produce still on board. Arguably the most difficult part of long voyages is the provisioning. If possible Claudia, please explain how you plan your meals for so many days. How much is fresh, how much is shelf stable? Are those potted plant herbs? Do you do seed sprouting at sea? Do you use freeze dry products? Is there a “Spirit Cookbook” in your future? Is there a “Spirit Sourdough” starter culture on board?
Clos doing a video on the provisioning she did prior to departure. Could take a while but she’ll get there 👍 hard to believe but the huge effort she’s put into provisioning means we’re still eating fresh produce from Panama with things like carrot, potatoes and pumpkin still to go. The huge fridge that has two levels really helped a lot with keep food fresh. It and the freezer have been game changers for us. Both units are incredibly efficient as well so once cooled draw hardly any power. As I type she’s making a cake on the gas stove. She’s a true legend in the galley 😁 the potted plants are herbs. We don’t sprout at present but will do as soon as we can get the seeds and time allows. We don’t really eat normal flour so no breads for now but that could change. She does her own kimchi, kombucha and yogurt as well love fermented foods.
It’s fantastic really opens up the interior spaces and gives us a great amount of volume. It’s also far easier to get up and down than the daggerboard of little Spirit and the open slot doesn’t seem to slow her down much.
Lovely to hear from you too Claudia. Thanks for the update.
Thanks hopefully comments like this will get her to do more 👍

You guys must get lost in all that space 😀
You could say that 😁 we’re feeling like we’ve moved into a villa on the water 👍
How are you finding life with a centreboard?
