One way to think of Zeppelin songs is this: first, there is an idea that leads to the song creation....that's the beginning. Then, at some point, the song develops to a point where they record it. With most bands, that's the "end' of the song, and when they tour the play the end version. But with Zeppelin, the studio take is just a snapshot of the song as it existed at the time of the album release. Just because they released the studio track, it doesn't mean it he song stopped growing and evolving. In fact, almost every track they ever recorded grew and evolved in live shows....No Quarter growing to 20 and sometimes 30 minutes, and Dazed and Confused sometimes 40 minutes. They were not interested in trying to recreate note for note the studio tracks - they were a jamming band...almost a heavy jazz band. That's why knowing their live work is actually just as important if not more important than knowing their studio tracks, because who they were is so much what their live shows were about.
If in doubt watch "dazed n confused" from same concert. Case closed. To drive it home "song remains" and "rain song". Disagree after that, no taste in music 😅
The insane part about Zeppelin is a song like this, played this hard would have been the highlight, stand out song of the show....not with them. They just kick ass non stop the entire time. Hands down, greatest band. Period.
It gave me chills when I was at the show and saw them do it. The smoke that was around there legs and was falling off the stage like a waterfall. There was such a mood going. I've heard it a thousand times and it still gives me chills.
Saw this movie on the big screen back in the day. It was epic then, and it remains epic today. Some of the fantasy sequences are a little cheesy, but the music is ridiculous. This version of No Quarter is one of my all time favorite Zeppelin tracks. Of course, the two songs you're looking for also fall under that category.
So happy you gave No Quarter another chance with the right video. I love the studio version. The live version grew on me over the years. It's one of my all time favorite of Led Zeppelin 🤟
This is not the video in the movie. It's just different scenes from the movie put together. Actually the live Dallas in 77 is better than this one I think.
There are two versions of this recording. There is the one on the original vinyl album and the one in the film. Seamlessly, part of the lead was removed for the film. It was a crime against music. As I understand it, the film version was used on later CD releases.
Yeah the album version is this particular one that the guy listened to. Thank goodness. The movie version is mostly what you find around on YT. I always found that chunk cut out was jarring.
The live version (yes, this is the right live version) is so superior to the studio. Different tempo, cadence, instrumentation sounds, beat. As if two different groups did it. I don’t dislike the studio version, just think this is do much better. A fan since ‘68 who has seen them twice.
Totally agree about the live version - Page's guitar sounds so superior live it's like a different song. The soundtrack to TSRTS was the 1st LZ album I bought as it's release (think it was '76) coincided with my discovery of the band and it kind of made it difficult to then retrospectively listen to the studio versions with the same level of appreciation - pretty much everything sounded better live to me.
great reaction bro....and Pagey runs the band, he created the band and writes about 99% of the music (Plant writes all the lyrics) but also Jimmy has produced every LZ album as well...and I appreciate that you really appreciate his guitar work...and he is a great chap chap as well
the first time i saw led z do this song live jpj went completely nuts and he was the only one on stage for a long part of it - it had lazers galore on that tour -it was jaw dropping really that show changed me and i had been going to concerts for 6 years....i was not the same i was very spoiled!! love your reaction
The double live album is "The Song Remains the Same" edited from the Madision Square Garden" concert 1973. There is also a movie of the same name where each of the four band members have their dream/fantasy played out. JPJ's is during "No Quarter" the movie is dated but worth a watch and has some backstage footage. The video your reacting to is good sound quality but less than ideal video. You will find The Song Remains the Same and the Rain Song on both movie and album. BTW they should always, always be played back to back with no break.
To be honest I wouldn’t even consider THIS a full version. Many times when performing No Quarter, they’d go for ~20-30 minutes! Def my fav song by them
This is not the original version of no quarter st msg 1973 I repeat this is not the song remains the same movie does not go anywhere like this I've been watching this since 1976 when it first came out this is all wrong been cut up into different parts this is totally disrespectful for the band I'm soo f.... pissed
The original studio (record) version of No Quarter. ruclips.net/video/Pu94mWlgzMY/видео.html And this is the last version they did as Zeppelin, for a one time benefit appearance in 2007, decades after John Bonham had died and they had ended as a group.....but agreed to do this concert with Jason Bonham (John's son) in his stead. THIS..... is how old, world class rockers bow out with style. ruclips.net/video/r7fMMcPByig/видео.html Enjoy....
I have to say, I prefer the Royal Albert Hall 1970 concert clips......they were just hitting their global stride and they weren't burned out on drugs, alcohol and the road..... Peak performance. This was the point at which they blew everyone's minds and left them slack jawed with that "WTF just happened?!" look. AUDIO IS WHAT MADE ALL ALL ALL LED ZEP LEGENDARY UNTIL THE 6TH ALBUM NO ONE HEARD LIVE AND LIVE WAS ALWAYS DIFFERENT SO IT IS NOT THE AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE OF LED ZEP YOU ARE LOOKING AT WHENEVER YOU DO LIVE FIRST ALWAYS STUDIO FIRST -IT IS WHAT MADE THEM

That’s why the Dead and Zeppelin are my favorite bands, Garcia and Page are my guitar hero’s
I think this is the greatest live guitar solo of all time, I've never heard one better.
The guitar solo in this may be the greatest rock guitar solo ever recorded. Page is the greatest rock guitarist of all time.
If in doubt watch "dazed n confused" from same concert. Case closed. To drive it home "song remains" and "rain song". Disagree after that, no taste in music 😅
I've always thought this live guitar solo is one of Page's best solos!
100% I believe it is his best !
The insane part about Zeppelin is a song like this, played this hard would have been the highlight, stand out song of the show....not with them. They just kick ass non stop the entire time. Hands down, greatest band. Period.

They are EACH the greatest!!
"Tea For One" Probably Jimmy's absolute best bluesy guitar solo
Thanks brother. , one of the greatest live guitar leads of all time !!!
I love that same guitar section. The sound of it seems so unique.
GREATEST OF ALL TIME LED ZEP!!!!!
Saw this movie on the big screen back in the day. It was epic then, and it remains epic today. Some of the fantasy sequences are a little cheesy, but the music is ridiculous.

Me too...the midnight movie st the theater!!
If that ain’t jazz/Rock fusion....nothing is!😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So... I absolutely love the studio version. Worth the listen
So happy you gave No Quarter another chance with the right video.
I love the studio version. The live version grew on me over the years.
It's one of my all time favorite of Led Zeppelin 🤟

This solo makes me cry... happy birthday Jimmy
The Rain Song and No Quarter are Epic Live Zeppelin songs
Don't worry about ranking the songs they are all great
3:00 - remember, John Paul Jones is playing that bass line with his -feet-. It's incredible.
Awesome!
That live version was the only one I knew for years after i bought the vinyl back in the 70s. Its still my gold standard.
There are two versions of this recording. There is the one on the original vinyl album and the one in the film. Seamlessly, part of the lead was removed for the film. It was a crime against music. As I understand it, the film version was used on later CD releases.

As far as solo's are concerned I think this song has the best live solo ever. Just so damn good . Thanks and great video sir.
Thank you, thoroughly enjoyed this one

I don't think it's the og og verison. The vocals sound different from the actual raw audience version
great reaction bro....and Pagey runs the band, he created the band and writes about 99% of the music (Plant writes all the lyrics) but also Jimmy has produced every LZ album as well...and I appreciate that you really appreciate his guitar work...and he is a great chap chap as well
You will love every song...yes that was the one...I'm going to try to find them!
Need to listen to ....Carouselambra from In through the out door...will blow you away
Great job on the reactions...Zep creates mysterious, haunting feeling, they're so gifted it's ridiculous...check out LIVE version of "Immigrant Song."
The live video is out there, but it does cut the guitar solo a little short, and thats what you want to hear, is this amazing solo
the first time i saw led z do this song live jpj went completely nuts and he was the only one on stage for a long part of it - it had lazers galore on that tour -it was jaw dropping really that show changed me and i had been going to concerts for 6 years....i was not the same i was very spoiled!! love your reaction
John Paul Jones is the author and director of ALL the Led Zeppelin music.
Gets better every time since it's release in 10th grade. Great dosing movie
So happy! I have seen The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song before...TSRTS on RUclips. That is so weird! I will see if I can find the link.
Warner Bros blocked it sadly. The only way to watch them now is separately.
@miguellara003 yeah ...that makes perfect sense lol.
My son is a soldier. It hits me hard
I'm making a playlist for my first shroom trip. This is the opening song.
ruclips.net/video/0kdrCEiIMSs/видео.html here's the full movie msg concert!
They performed different songs longer and shorter all the time. Jimmy Page said that he never considered a song finished.
This is an Empress Valley release.

If you buy the concert, you will just have more great songs by them to watch lol.
Audio is great too.
Live is always better!

It's an amazing jam
Nothing in their concerts sounded anything like their Studio version. Just a suggestion but you should do studio first then concert. Peace ✌️
Tell me they are notthe GOATS...you can’t!
If you want bluesy..please check out Tea for One by Zep❤❤ best blues song ive heard..well Besides SRV❤❤❤
Nice reaction. The studio version is trippier. I prefer their live performances. Amazing.
Bonham is always pushing Jimmy, that is why they are so great. It is like he is chasing him.
This is good, but I prefer the 02 Arena version ❤
I thought this would be the one with the visuals but I guess not. Right concert though.
This song is progressive Rock not bluesy Page plays a Jazzy rock solo!
This is not the original version of no quarter st msg 1973 I repeat this is not the song remains the same movie does not go anywhere like this I've been watching this since 1976 when it first came out this is all wrong been cut up into different parts this is totally disrespectful for the band I'm soo f.... pissed
А где Лед Зеппелин болван? На твою морду трячсущуюся что ли смотреть под музыку?? Посмотри в Вики чито такое КЛИКБЕЙТ.
The original studio (record) version of No Quarter.
