I’ve got 2 blue spotted and that’s what it looks like. They both have “bands” but the blue spotted are much more suttle
I believe you're right.
Blue spotted sunfish and banded sunfish cohabitate and interbreed it could be either
banded sun fish really nice too
Thanks, that's what I think it is as well
Really cool! I heard that this fish is becoming harder to find and is protected in several states, luckily MA is not one of them. Hoping to catch one myself soon.
Thanks and yeah I'm lucky that I can still find them pretty easily in MA. Make sure to hunt in the muck!
it's a blue spotted sunfish
When I first saw it I thought of a pumpkin seed but then I looked at it and thought of a banded, possibly a cross with the banded dominating ?
Yeah it turned out to be a banded sunfish, especially since it maxed out at about 3 1/2 inches
+ZackAttack Aquatics for sure looks like a pumpkin a little bit thought, cannot lie
Band Sunfish. The black spot, which is about the size of the eye is a dead give away.
Diamond sunfish
Banded sunfish
That is a banded sunfish without a doubt
Totally agree
Northern long ear
