Im in the buisness. The reason it took so much as because your asphalt was completely dry. If you do it again it will only take half that. If it was cooler out it would take less as well. Oil spots next time put dawn soap on scrub and wet it will be gone. But for DIY well you did great job
Beautiful Work! And you displayed an amazing patience ability on your DIY job site. Some semi pro plumber dudes did some drain pipe work on our California Apartment Complex property, a few years back, and left a big area of what looks like "white concrete" surrounding a big water pipe they installed coming out the side of our Apartment building and going into the driveway ground. Since our whole driveway was completely Blacktopped years earlier (and is now dark grey) I wanna try speckling some of this Latex-ite Mix onto the concrete white looking pipe surrounding surface to achieve a "better color blend" on our driveway. By also adding some exterior grade water based latex paint (from Home Depot and maybe their super strong Behr Marquee Paint) for the additional grey colorways, I should be able to achieve a driveway illusion that "nuthin' was up with those pipes". Wish me Luck!
You should absolutely come up with a nice color blend with that method. Good luck with your project and let me know how it turned out. Thanks for watching.
Nice video! 🙂 The bucket says 300-500 square feet of coverage. So, going with the lower number, I figured 6-7 buckets would do it. Seeing how lots of reviews said that you need more than what the bucket says, 10 buckets were lined up along the driveway. *IT STILL WAS NOT ENOUGH!* 14 buckets were needed. That was roughly 120 square feet per bucket - on a brand new driveway. Also, I think a second coat is needed. So, another seven buckets are waiting, but I'm not sure if it's going to be enough. Hopefully the second coat is easier, now that the driveway is a lot smoother. I see the comments here recommending using a brush and lightly watering down the driveway first. I tried that. It didn't seem to make that much of a difference with getting better coverage. I do think a cloudy (but not rainy) day might be better. The stuff was drying out in the sun. It's tricky to get it right. You need the right temperature and good weather within a 36 hour window. Sometimes that's just not available. Anyway, I saw a lot of videos about sealing a driveway on RUclips. Yours is more real world. This is not an easy job. The buckets are heavy, it's messy, and it takes skill to make it look even.
Everything you said was pinpoint accurate. I learned a lot doing this job. One of the most important things you noted was the need for a second coat. It's absolutely necessary. Thank you so much for watching and sharing that valuable information.
This stuff just looks no good. Not nearly fluid enough. You need to start as early in the morning as possible to beat the heat. And you should never stop once you start. You need to finish or you WILL get brush marks all over. Black Jack maxx 1000 is the best sealer I’ve ever used. Thick but not too thick. Perfect consistency. I used 4 buckets on my 2500sf driveway. Took only 3hrs to do. Always use a 36” brush. No squeegee. And never seal if it’s going to rain within the next 24hrs.
Good job!! I'm doing my driveway, right now, with Latex-ite Ultra Seal. I got the 1st coat on, yesterday. Will finish up today (Weds). It's supposed to rain on Friday, so I'm hoping everything will cure before then. It took 23 cans when I sealed it the 1st time (6 years ago), so I should be using a few less, this time around. I used their patch product in a few areas, their "oil primer" over a few spots where my old truck is parked and a crack fill that you melt with a propane torch. This is a lot of work, but my neighbors had their's done by a contractor and it only lasted 1 or 2 years. My first application gave me 5 years of protection and still looked reasonably good after that time.
You can add a gallon of water to each bucket to spread. That stuff is so thick it’s actually bad for your driveway. Water just helps it spread. It’ll evaporate and look the same. This comes from someone in the business.
I'm glad you like the product. Airport is a top seller. I work for the company. You used almost a full pallet. Pallets hold 36 buckets. Years ago I actually poured that very formula into those very buckets. I've since moved up. But good job sir. Happy to see it worked for you.
Thanks Michael. Our driveway probably hasn't been done in many years. I just got the house a couple of years ago. The next time should require a lot less. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad u add the link to home depot, I did check reviews and lots of people having issues, the paint coming off. They have 2 parts epoxy and is a waste of money , looks amazing 1 month. I hope u had better experience with this because that was lots of money.
It did hold up well until we had the worst winter storm in decades last year. Lots of plowing left marks on my driveway. Other than that, it still looks much better than it did. Thanks for watching!
I agree that this product looks great at application. What is your experience at the 3 year mark? I find that its pretty much done for at three years and will need to be re-applied. I think the warranty requires 2 coats at 1st application to meet the durability claim.
You are spot on. I have to redo mines again. 3 years is pushing it with a single coat. Maybe I will do a double coat next time and see how that goes. Thanks for watching.
I used this companies "Ultra Seal" product and got a full 5 years out of it with 2 coats. Mind you, it is warranted for 10 years, but my driveway is on a slope which may have shorted the lifespan. -IMPORTANT: Keep all of your receipts and records (date done, square footage, # of coats, etc., if you need to contact their warranty department in the future. If you jump through all of their hoops, you may get vouchers for some buckets of their sealer.
I did this last year... I think I used 12 buckets on my folks driveway for them. Same drill powered stir device. Pretty happy with how it looks a year on now. Went on looking about like yours did. Hoping to not have to re-do it for a couple more years now.
Unfortunately, we got the worst winter in decades here in Chicago the year I did this. You can see heavy plow marks all over my driveway now so I will be doing it over again. Thanks for watching.
I am so glad I don’t have a HUGE driveway like you. Looks like you’ve done a great job though. I hate paying people to do things that I can do myself, so this driveway would cost me sleep stressing over it
Thanks, Chris. It wasn't that bad though. Next time it should be a lot easier since the driveway wasn't probably sealed in years prior to me doing it. Thanks for watching!
Hey, Terence. I just did my drive and I waaay underestimated how many I needed. Started with 12 and needed another 10. Had a lot of texture since it was the first time I did it sine the drive was put down in 2009. Hard work. Great job.
It's best to do it on a hot sunny day at noon. The sun warms up the asphalt and the liquid chemicals bond better to the surface. Washing away loose debris is the best prep to do.
It’s not going to hide oil stains eventually they will seep through in order to hide oil stains u will need an oil based product or if your not willing to spend the money on the oil based sealer u can just spray paint over the stains with any type of latex paint and seal coat right over it and it will hide it fine.
Hello Terence, great job. I liked and subscribed as you suggested. - I think the gentleman that suggested moistening the driveway is correct. You used so many buckets because you applied it to a dry driveway. Had you moistened the surface of the driveway the water would have served as a sealer layer for the product to spread evenly. - That said, how many square feet was your driveway. Based on the product documentation, you could have sealed a 9,600 square foot driveway with 32 buckets at a rate of 300 s/f per bucket. - I have 6000 s/f and my driveway is far larger than yours, so I assume you have about 3500-4000 s/f. Is that close to being correct? - Thanks
Yep, he was correct and so are you. I should have wet it before using the sealer. I could have saved some money. Luckily for me I caught it on sale. My driveways is around 4400 sq.ft.
We go to our local asphalt company with an empty 55 gallon barrel and get it filled for 1/4 of the cost buying it from the box stores….. sompin to look into next. Great job though 👍👍👍
Nice job Terence I did my driveway yesterday 6 cans came out great! 32 buckets you must have been hurting after that I was hurting just after 6 buckets! I used roller along garage edge and pavers along with squeegee . Thanks for posting video
Awesome Johnny! Yeah, them 32 buckets had me sweating badly especially since it was SO hot. I love how our driveway looks now. That sealer is great!! Thanks for watching!
The coverage per bucket seems way too low. I did mine (19x30) 570sqft with a bit less then 2 buckets, 2 coats. Label say 1000qsft per bucket but thats optimistic. I applyed very early with a squeegee and mist water just a bit over the driveway prior to apply. If you apply on a sunny day I would mist and add water to the sealant in the bucket.
I would lay down some felt first and then apply this. The stuff is pretty this so you should have a secure leak free roof then after. Thanks for watching.
Two years at most. The reason being, we got the worst winter in nearly 20 years here in Chicago a few months after I did this. That following spring, you could see how my snow plow left many marks in the sealer in which probably attributed to the quick demise of the coating. I have to redo it now. Thank you SO much for watching.
The driveway is so rough…one reason for the crazy number of buckets. How much a bucket? The ones I used were $200/ bucket on sale for $129 since it was end of season and sealer had become very thick.I used about 18 buckets, or $2,300 worth of sealer. It’s supposed to last 15 years, but 5 would be great as I will have sold the house by then. My driveway is about the same area, but smooth.
Are you serious ? Somebody got over on you. I don’t know who you bought sealer from but that is a INSANE price and no sealer will last 10+ years no matter how much you pay. You could have paid a professional company to come do a driveway as big as the one in this video and it would have only cost $500ish
Did you rinse out those empty buckets and save them? Lowes charges 5 bucks for empty 5 gal. buckets with their logo on them. I don't think you need to go to a gym to keep in shape. Looks like a satisfying project and a job well done
You're very welcome, John. After a year it looks fairly good now given the fact that we got the worse winter we've gotten in decades!! Thank you SO much for watching!
Great video. I was going to buy this same product but didn’t know how to apply it, but now I think I can give it a try. Btw your driveway looks like a million bucks now!
Respectfully, from an asphalt specialist, these products are something I would suggest never using... just ask your local paving companies what they think! Most people don’t have tankers and transportation of dangerous goods licenses, so stores can’t sell pure bitumen (highly concentrated liquid asphaltene tar). What they can sell you is acrylics and latex “tar based sealants” that are paint. What happens to your driveway when you paint it is similar to a fence... of course the quantity applied is an influencing factor, but what happens is it cracks and it chips and it causes many hairline fractures!!! These hairline fractures all welcome water to settle in and during freeze and thaw cycles, this water expands and contracts and breaks down the asphalt... these fractures leave unnatural web like cracking (similar cracks to where wheels role over on asphalt driveway with a poor foundation). Each time an asphalt driveway cracks, the size and severity of the crack becomes larger at a more exponential rate (the damage is cumulative). If you want to seal your driveway and actually increase the elasticity, it is important you hire a professional who has the right product. Asphalt contains three core components (bitumen tar, rocks, and sand), over time the bitumen at the top becomes evaporated (making the driveway more brittle and prone to cracking). If you wish to increase the driveways elasticity and it’s appearance, it’s crucial you spend the extra money to hire someone who is spraying on pure bitumen.
The problem is the driveway was too dry. That’s why it took so many buckets. If you poured water on the driveway let it wait until it gets damp then seal coated. You only wood have use maybe 12 or 13 buckets
Looks like you have a really nice large circle driveway there and you did a good job sealing it up thanks for sharing the video you have a beautiful driveway
That’s a lot of driveway to cover whew. I guess now you’ll know how many buckets the driveway needs. Cool project. I have a colony of cats and a bunch of us in the area had our driveways sealed and the cats are walking on the driveways 🤦🏽♀️😢
How you like this product, I got mixed reviews that its latex and really doesn't do anything but paint the driveway. I have alligator cracks, what is a good product?
I have used several brands and what I have concluded is that they are all pretty much the same. If you search ANY of the driveway sealers I guarantee you will see the same mixed reviews. This offers a deep rich dark color and hides cracks well. However, don't expect to get many years out of it. 2 to 3 years MAX. Thank you so much for watching.
I used a large squeegee. You are correct about the price and there is no warranty that I know of. What I do know is, that you will get a good three years out of it before you will have to redo it. Thank you so much for watching!
Great job! The driveway looks awesome. Now that you put down the sealer, the next time you re-seal it won't nearly be as many buckets. Maybe 1/2-3/4 the amount used. I know the bucket route is a pain but you are guaranteed the best sealer possible.
Nice work terence!.. Oh man im going to need about 32 buckets also.... plus i have a 3x13 ft broken to pieces section along edge ...I got a quote of 4k just to fill and roll the 3x13 edge.... Im going to attempt to do it with a bunch of bags of good filler a roofing torch and a tamper...... Wish you lived in central fl we'd help each other out alot!.... Just subscribed also.... Awesome stuff T
Definitely would help out. That's why I was placed on this earth, to help others. Although it's a laborious job, you will save a bunch of money and be happy with the finished product. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing.
It needs to be done again. After I done this, we got the worse winter in decades here in Chicago. The plowing scraped it up but it was still looking fairly good. If you're planning on using this, and you get decent traffic flowing through your driveway, you may get 3 years max. If you get moderate traffic it will last longer. Thanks for watching.
That shit is super thick that’s why it wasn’t spreading and plus you need to use it in a big pool to keep it moving like a wave don’t stretch it till it’s dry but that was too thick would have used something a little thinner easier to spread
It needs to be redone again. However, the year I did this, we got the worst winter in decades here in Illinois. I had lots of plow and shovel marks the following year. If we had a normal winter, I may could have gotten another year or so out of it. Also, I was told to from someone who works for Latex-ite to lightly wet the pavement next time in which will allow me to use less material.
@@TerenceDIY Thanks. Do you think the airport grade is OK, or would you use the Ultrashield. I think the airport grade is $22 and the ultrashield is $30 per bucket.
In my honest opinion, they are about equal to me despite Ultrashield being the better product. I did my friend driveway with the Ultrashield and it's not that far off from mines, and I did his driveway a month after mines. Save the money and get the airport grade. That's what I'm going to do. Thanks again for watching.
Great job looks great. I have a small portion of asphalt driveway I am gonna do this on. thanks for the video I would probably never have thought to do it.
A question, I did same thing you did there last summer and this end winter 🥶 my drive way looks like no coating at all. Can you tell me why it does that. Was it because I did it the end of summer and the sealing coat didn’t get enough sun ☀️ or it’s because we live in Wisconsin with the snow ❄️ please help
It was definitely the snow. For some reason, that sealer does NOT do well with snow. Not to mention, my driveway have plow marks from heavy plowing so I have to redo mines as well. Thanks for watching.
Wow - 32 buckets is a lot - but looks like you have a big driveway - looks great! 7 did my decent sized drive well - I agree with you that this is a great product - It's much better than the 'contractors' that simply spray over your driveway
Unfortunately for me, we got the worst winter in decades the year I did this. My plow and shovel marks took a toll on the driveway. I have to redo it again.
I apologize for not being clear. I haven't done it over yet. I will say this, if your driveway does not see heavy traffic, you may could get a few years out of this stuff. However, just like every other brand I have used, two years seems to be the point where you may want to redo your driveway. That's why the majority of it, is inexpensive.
Thanks for posting this video - I plan to use the same product to do my driveway (5,000 sq. ft.) and I am not sure how many buckets I will need. I first thought 15, but I am now thinking more like 25.
@@TerenceDIY great video Terence! Would you recommend this sealer for a small commercial lot of 4500 sqft? How did it hold up for your driveway? Thanks!!
@@pablog4852 , I would recommend it although there are better applications now (more expensive though). It held up decent. The following winter after I did this, we got the worst winter in decades. My plow truck left scrape marks throuhout my driveway. I have to do it over soon, and I will probably use the same product. Thanks for watching!
I agree I used this brand about 15 years ago. It held up really well. Did it again and I was lucky if it lasted a year. Definitely cheapened the product compared to my past experience.
Hi Ron, the winter following me sealing our driveway was the worst in decades and my driveway suffered from the heavy plowing. It held up pretty good for another year after that but currently needs to be redone. Thanks for watching!
Does it have a horrible smell? I had a gallon of the crack sealer and it almost made me gag it smelled so bad!! This is of course the thick brown goop that turns black when it dries. I kid you not, that stuff smells awful! It is not like paint thinner or anything like that but it has its own distinct odor.
Hi Francis, I am pretty sure the cover was poor becuase of how long the driveway had not been sealed. If I wish to do it over again now, it will probably take less than half to complete it. Thanks for watching!
good work but i do sealcoating commercial and residential and honestly store brands have too much sand making your driveway smooth losing grit and freezes on winter. you will remember next year when spider marks appear.
Hi Christopher, the driveway looks decent now, given the fact that we got the worst winter in hearly 40 years here in Chicago after I sealed the driveway. If the winter was a normal one, It would probably look really good. You can see my plow marks all through it now. The good thing is that it will only require half the buckets to do again. Thanks for watching!
How does it look now?? Please show!!! I used same product and had mixed results... 1st yr i rolled it on and was like yours beautiful... but worn down quickly in the drive area....so i read you have to squeegee down for proper results and cover and adhesion and most of alllll Warranty ... so i did and now its flaking and chipping off like 🤬 . So ive done both and dont know but i also used the blue label and same and even worse. Lotta hard work and looks great, please let me know if you still are pleased with look and performance of product.👍👍
Hi, it's hard for me to give my verdict on the product since we had the worse winter in decades this past winter. Lots of plowing and snow removal so you can see my plow marks and some fading along the driveway. I am definitely going to do it again. It shouldn't require as much. I will post an update video soon before I do it over. Thanks for watching!
Very helpful. Thank you for posting! Two questions. First, if you had the chance to do it all over again, would you have hired a pro or did it yourself? Secondly, how did it hold up?
I would do it all over again without hesitation however, I would have had the ground damp and not bone dry so It would have applied smoothly. Also, I will have to redo the driveway soon. It held up okay given the fact that we got the worst winter in decades the year that I did this. smh. I have plow marks all over it. Thank you SO much for watching.
As a professional seal-coater, DIYer, and as a pilot and airport worker...a few things... 1st off... "Airport grade" is meaningless...just words to make people think the product is "special/superior", in some way. Much like "made out of aircraft grade aluminum" being used as a selling point...airplanes are built to be light, not tough! Asphalt is asphalt...whether it's used at an airport, road, parking lot, or a driveway...it's the same stuff! The reason it took so many buckets, is because (it appears) the driveway hasn't been sealed before, or has been a loooong time since it has been done. Every 2 to 3 years is what it should be. 32 buckets, at $20 each, is a tough pill to swallow...$600+. With an "eye-ball" estimate...I'd say that's about a $400 driveway (on the high end) to have done professionally. Depending on your area, price should be in the 10-15 cents per square foot. Personally, I bumped up to 12cents per sq ft. this year. I'll be at 14 next year. I have quoted quite a few driveways where they said "that's cheaper than it cost me to do it myself"!
Thank you for sharing that knowledge. I purchased the airport grade for appearance not durability. Some of the cheaper stuff is brownish looking. I bought this house about a little under a year before I did this. I had to completely do the entire house and the driveway was the last thing to do. It probably hadn't been seal coated in years. I took a private pilots course some years back (nearly finished until an emergency happened) and my brother is a amazing mechanic for American Airlines so I am very familiar with planes, airports, etc.. You are correct, it is a selling ploy. Asphalt is asphalt however, the cheap stuff is watered down looking. I may could have gotten a decent quote, but not $400. My driveway is pretty big. Also, I am VERY PASSIONATE on things I do and how I work and I love it. So, I didn't mind sharing this and showing the product in detail. They sell these products for a reason. Everyone cannot afford a professional seal coater. Especially if you have a small dirveway. Once again, thanks for sharing and watching my content.
Looks like a decent sealer and you did a great job! Those square footage estimates on the buckets are not accurate in my experience. I recently sealed mine and was getting more like 150-200 square feet per bucket. You always have to buy quite a bit more than you think.
I watched this yesterday and sealed my driveway today. My driveway is 1500sqft and I used 3 buckets. And my driveway was in way worse shape than this one. Even though your driveway is way bigger than mine I just don't understand how it possibly could take you that many buckets.
Hi Derek, as you can see in the footage, I really stretched the material. I was running through buckets! Next time it shouldn't require as much. Thanks for watching!
My guess is that it was too hot and sunny to apply it. The sealer seems soo thick on the driveway it was drying before to apply. You really need to apply very early and add water to the sealer and or mist water on the asphalt or it will take so much product.
I know I’m late to the party but. That driveway was in terrible shape. A driveway like that will take literal tons of sealer. You never get the (4 year coverage) Do it more often and it will take less and look better
Your hard work paid well. Looks really nice. Your driveway look 18000 not 1800sq? 32 buckets? I have 2000sq and I thought I need 6 buckets but after watched your video I better buy many more buckets. Question, 32 buckets all good consistency? Thanks!
Hi Sunny L, sorry for the late response. I am working on many videos for the channel. Yes, all 32 buckets were needed to keep up the consistent coat. Yes, and you will need many more buckets. lol. Good luck with your job. Thank you very much for watching.

This really makes sense. It seems the driveway never been sealed for a while, that means I had to charge more then eh?
Can you seal a moist driveway? I thought it had to be dry completely dry?
This! It gets less and less as the years go on.

There are Irish gypsies back east that travel around sealing driveways with inferior materials.
Thanks for making this. You have a great work ethic!
Hard work. Great job.
I did the same thing. LOL. Thank you so much for watching.
@@TerenceDIY you're welcome, brother! I made 3 trips to Lowes. LOL. Got to the end and had about 5 SF left. DANG. Blessings!
Lol. I'm glad to hear you got it done. It probably looks amazing.
It's best to do it on a hot sunny day at noon. The sun warms up the asphalt and the liquid chemicals bond better to the surface. Washing away loose debris is the best prep to do.
Thanks for sharing that info Robert.
@@TerenceDIY Thank you Terence! You did a great job. I also learned a lot from you that I can use when I do mine. THANK YOU Sir!!!
Good job. That’s a lot of material to spread by hand.
Thank you.
Great job
Thanks Chris and thanks for watching.
Thanks for this video. It was very informative and told me everything I needed to know.👍
You're very welcome, Bill. Thank YOU for watching.
Thank you, gonna start on mine tomorrow. You shared several things that I had thought of in advance of doing it!!
You're very welcome, Richard. Good luck with your job. Thanks for watching!
We go to our local asphalt company with an empty 55 gallon barrel and get it filled for 1/4 of the cost buying it from the box stores….. sompin to look into next. Great job though 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing that info Chuck and thanks for watching.
I’m going to be doing my driveway for the first time. Thanks for the tips, it was very helpful.
You're very welcome Joe. Good luck with doing your driveway. You'll knock it out. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Terrence
I'm going to seal mine with a paint roller just to make things more challenging 😉
Huge drive way, bro! You did a very good👍 job !
Thanks John!
do you suppose you could use this or mobile home roofing sealant???
I would lay down some felt first and then apply this. The stuff is pretty this so you should have a secure leak free roof then after. Thanks for watching.
Since this video was four years ago, how long did the sealant last?
Two years at most. The reason being, we got the worst winter in nearly 20 years here in Chicago a few months after I did this. That following spring, you could see how my snow plow left many marks in the sealer in which probably attributed to the quick demise of the coating. I have to redo it now. Thank you SO much for watching.
@ thanks for the quick response Terence 👍. It looked great when fresh - big driveway you have = a lot of work
Yes, it is a lot of work. However, I enjoy it. Once again, thank you so much for watching.
You purchased the very expensive sealer. The sealer I bought, though it claimed to be great, costed about $30 a bucket at the time.
Are you serious ? Somebody got over on you. I don’t know who you bought sealer from but that is a INSANE price and no sealer will last 10+ years no matter how much you pay. You could have paid a professional company to come do a driveway as big as the one in this video and it would have only cost $500ish
Nice job! I always underestimate how much product to buy. Back and forth to HD.
Thanks for the video.
Me too, David! Lol. Thanks for watching!
Did you rinse out those empty buckets and save them? Lowes charges 5 bucks for empty 5 gal. buckets with their logo on them.
I don't think you need to go to a gym to keep in shape. Looks like a satisfying project and a job well done
I definitely kept a few of them. It was hot out that day and the sealer was drying hard in those buckets. Thanks for watching!
Bro thank you so much for this! I am looking to redo my driveway and your video is a huge help. Looks amazing.
Yes it does! lol. Thank you SO much for watching!
Looks Great...My doing mine this week, I have about 2000 square feet. I bought 12 buckets, I may need a few more...
Hi Tomas, you're definitely is going to need more. Thanks for watching!
I bet you only needed 5 tops
@@brandonbunsold3458 It had never been sealed; I ended up using 13 1/2 buckets...
It's nice to have a wraparound driveway - you can seal it in stages and continue to use the driveway. Great job! 👍
Absolutely! Thank you SO much for watching.
The problem is the driveway was too dry. That’s why it took so many buckets. If you poured water on the driveway let it wait until it gets damp then seal coated. You only wood have use maybe 12 or 13 buckets
Thank you SO much for sharing that info. I will do that next time. Thanks for watching!
Looks like you have a really nice large circle driveway there and you did a good job sealing it up thanks for sharing the video you have a beautiful driveway
Yes, it a nice roomy driveway. Thank you SO much for watching!
That is a big,big driveway.
I had the same problem
I stopped using the squeegee and used a paint roller
The paint roller spread it out a lot more , it tripled my coverage
Thanks for sharing that, Dan. I will use a roller next time.
Wet down the driveway .
Work with little bit of water on surface
Thank you so much for that advice and watching.
@@TerenceDIY hej
Yes totally agree , It spreads easier than if the driveway is bone dry or hot
Nice job sir.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
3 buckets... huh ? Great job T
Order a pallet then pick up 2 chicos from HD . Saving your back priceless
That’s a lot of driveway to cover whew. I guess now you’ll know how many buckets the driveway needs. Cool project. I have a colony of cats and a bunch of us in the area had our driveways sealed and the cats are walking on the driveways 🤦🏽♀️😢
It will require less buckets next time go round. That sucks about the cats walking on the freshly sealed driveways! Thanks for watching!
Did you use a broom or a squeegee? It looks great. So, it was about $600 is there a multi year warranty on this material?
I used a large squeegee. You are correct about the price and there is no warranty that I know of. What I do know is, that you will get a good three years out of it before you will have to redo it. Thank you so much for watching!
Guys do it on motion left to right
Does this fill alligator cracks?
Yes, because it's very thick stuff. As long as the cracks are not wide, it will fill them. Thanks for watching.
DO you think if you has a squagie without angled corners it would be easier?
I doubt it. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks your video was good
You're very welcome. Thank you so much for watching.
Where did you get that mixer bit ?
Home Depot. Here's the link to a variety of them...
www.homedepot.com/s/paddle%20mixer?NCNI-5
Great job! The driveway looks awesome. Now that you put down the sealer, the next time you re-seal it won't nearly be as many buckets. Maybe 1/2-3/4 the amount used. I know the bucket route is a pain but you are guaranteed the best sealer possible.
Thank you! And I totally agree with bucket use next time go round. Thank you so much for watching!
About how much should you charge per square foot if someone would like to start a small business redoing driveways
How does it look now? would you buy this brand again?
It needs to be done again. After I done this, we got the worse winter in decades here in Chicago. The plowing scraped it up but it was still looking fairly good. If you're planning on using this, and you get decent traffic flowing through your driveway, you may get 3 years max. If you get moderate traffic it will last longer. Thanks for watching.
That shit is super thick that’s why it wasn’t spreading and plus you need to use it in a big pool to keep it moving like a wave don’t stretch it till it’s dry but that was too thick would have used something a little thinner easier to spread
So a couple of years later - how did it hold up? I'm debating doing large driveway myself or having it done. I think I have about 6000sq feet.
@@TerenceDIY thanks

Great job looks great. I have a small portion of asphalt driveway I am gonna do this on. thanks for the video I would probably never have thought to do it.

Did the squeegee marks go away after it dried?
Absolutely.
@@TerenceDIY awesome thanks. I’m happy with this airport stuff. Really filled in and smoothed driveway out
Nice!
A real contractor should brush/squeegee one coat or spray two coats.
How is it holding up 3 years later? About to do my driveway.
Unfortunately for me, we got the worst winter in decades the year I did this. My plow and shovel marks took a toll on the driveway. I have to redo it again.
@@TerenceDIY Did you use the same stuff the second time? How is that holding up?
I apologize for not being clear. I haven't done it over yet. I will say this, if your driveway does not see heavy traffic, you may could get a few years out of this stuff. However, just like every other brand I have used, two years seems to be the point where you may want to redo your driveway. That's why the majority of it, is inexpensive.
How many sq feet of driveway?
A little over 3000 sq.ft
Thanks for posting this video - I plan to use the same product to do my driveway (5,000 sq. ft.) and I am not sure how many buckets I will need. I first thought 15, but I am now thinking more like 25.
You're welcome Roger. I want to note that you will get a good 3 years out of the product because I have to redo mines again. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
you did this HOURS before rain? Is that ok!?
As long as it was hot outside, you should be fine. This stuff dries pretty quickly. Thanks for watching!
hope yours lasts longer than mine did prepped driveway cleaned it filled cracks and it didnt last thru the winter
I agree I used this brand about 15 years ago. It held up really well. Did it again and I was lucky if it lasted a year. Definitely cheapened the product compared to my past experience.
looks good, how's it holding up and looking today?
Hi Ron, the winter following me sealing our driveway was the worst in decades and my driveway suffered from the heavy plowing. It held up pretty good for another year after that but currently needs to be redone. Thanks for watching!
@@TerenceDIY Thank you! appreciate the reply
Nice job
Does it have a horrible smell? I had a gallon of the crack sealer and it almost made me gag it smelled so bad!! This is of course the thick brown goop that turns black when it dries. I kid you not, that stuff smells awful! It is not like paint thinner or anything like that but it has its own distinct odor.
It definitely has an odor. It's probably not as bad as others I've used.
possible to use airless for this?
I doubt it. This stuff is pretty thick.
Is there a spray???
I don't believe so James.
Do you think that the coverage is poor because of the heat and it’s drying too fast?
Hi Francis, I am pretty sure the cover was poor becuase of how long the driveway had not been sealed. If I wish to do it over again now, it will probably take less than half to complete it. Thanks for watching!
good work but i do sealcoating commercial and residential and honestly store brands have too much sand making your driveway smooth losing grit and freezes on winter. you will remember next year when spider marks appear.
How has it held up?
I wonder if they sold it by the drum. It would probably be cheaper that way.
I'm living in England how much for a job like that in America
Probably around $800 for my driveway. Thanks for watching.
31 buckets😳😬…….that would represent approximately $4,000 in the U.K.!🤯
That's expensive! Thanks for watching!
With a professional sealcoat like Asphalt Kingdom,1 5gallon pale is around 400 square feet of coverage
Hey man looks great! How many square feet?
how many sqft does one bucket cover?
Fills, seals driveways up to 400 sq. ft. per pail.
Thanks for the video!
Very nice job ! I need to do mine good inspiration to do it yourself...GP
Thank you. You can do it!
I know I’m late to the party but.
That driveway was in terrible shape.
A driveway like that will take literal tons of sealer.
You never get the (4 year coverage)
Do it more often and it will take less and look better
We had just bought the house. So after we renovated the house, doing the driveway was next on our list. Thank you very much for watching.
Great job. Looks new!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Hi driveway was very porous because it’s never been sealcoated. Think of a giant sponge.
