Wayne Krantz is a god amongst mortals. He has created his own guitar language. His rhythmic sensibilities in his lines are unlike any other player. There was a great interview where Wayne said he arrived in New York in the 80's and he felt like he sounded like Pat Metheny. He then decided he must create his own voice and style and transformed into a true creative master. Im a 67 year old lady but I can proclaim with confidence that Wayne is a mesmerizing beacon of light, transforming mystical energy into an experienceable reality for the rest of us to enjoy. Ari and Anthony are fantastic as well!
Here's a great example of Wayne's straight-ahead playing. Even here you can sense pretty advanced melodic and rhythmic sensibilities. More like Steve Kahn than Pat. ruclips.net/video/zMAl0XmcqzA/видео.html That AM radio style announcer is a kick.
min 3:35 . Tidd waiting for 'cue and .. Wayne looks at him and within less than a second Tidd comes back with-A-hardcore super tight groove fingering... actually during all the M-Base collective era, Tidd was the one boggling my mind. Krantz is a unique voice and will always be on my top10 fav guitarists of all time. THERE i SAID IT.
Ari, your druming is so.. transparent!! The care you take at the moment of hitting a symbal.. you really master the dynamics of volumes. One can clearly hear your signature.. i mean, i don't know you, but i feel like you are placing your own self over the drum kit. I can hear it! haha keep up the excelent playing!
Sounds that came forth were amazing. Had those headphones turned up high. :-)) Delightful has you dancing in your PC chair.... Oh Yeah! Thanks for introducing this band to me, always such a treat to have a new-to-me band shared. :-)
it actually is Black swan by thom yorke/krantz recorded it on his latest album!!!i couldnt realize until i read your comment but i felt they are playing something familiar!
@ 1:35 anthony messes with the time what they are doin is so cool haha sounds great, and nice recording! Ari! amazing as usual man and these cymbals sound really nice together by the way
The bassist looks like he doesn't even know what's going on. As if musical gods are just controlling his hands to do that and he's just like "Alright I'll play along with it..."

That's pretty much the definition of musical mastery, isn't it?
interesting that he uses a Marshall....I always assumed it was a twin with that stratty tone....but I suppose now I think about it does have that Marshall cut to it...
+Colly Flour He used to go into an old Deluxe Reverb. That was his sound for Long to be Loose, 2 Drink Minimum and Greenwich mean. At some point he changed to the Marshall when he wanted a grittier sound.
If I ever meet Ari, I'll have to ask him why he raises his sticks so high before the down stroke. Seems so un-economical, but on the other hand he's really damn good so - moot point? Curious, though.
it's now 2020. notice what a crappy, beat up, mismatched drumset ari is playing. now notice how nobody noticed because his playing is so awesome. as a recovering drum gearhead, it took me seven years to realize this.
No words.... only respect!
One of the best drummers that I ever heard.
Thanks for sharing Ari.

I can’t believe I just found this video. Amazing!! What a trio, wish I was there. Ari thanks so much for posting it!!
this performance is so great, its 4 years old but i still end up watching it every couple of months. Krantz and Ari are riding some HUGE WAVES!
thanks so much Brock!
Speechless watching this. Cant bear with this. This is just UNREAL😢
one of the best trio sessions from krantz lately that i've seen video wise.

Great Music ! Fantastic interplay !
Those tempo changes are brutal! Love Krantz!! And Ari playing his ass off! awesome!
That one guitar riff they keep anchoring to every now and again, remind anyone of 'Black Swan' by Thom Yorke if you know the song?
it actually is Black swan by thom yorke/krantz recorded it on his latest album!!!i couldnt realize until i read your comment but i felt they are playing something familiar!
Yes! Haha ! Exactly ! This video is great!
Man those flams in that polyrythm groove at 7:49 are tight love the creativity.
This technique reminds me of a match-grip version of Keith Carlock. Very good stuff, sir!
Yes I was thinking along similar lines
They both studied under the great Ed Soph at the University of North Texas
Just amazing 🎶 🎸
Wayne's the man. Come to think of it, all 3 are.

Some dude gets a sweet fillet mignon brought up about 2 minutes in.
That's what brought me here
Ben Lubin i came for the music, stayed for the fillet mignon
Not vegan music.
mega. Can't wait to see Krantz, Carlock, Lefebrve in two weeks time in Berlin. This trio seems to be equally inspiring
Wow. So good.
Wow, that's really great!
Sounds like best jam night ever recorded in the history of jam nights
The level of skill and artistry is unbelievable.
2:20 Aaah, I'm gasming hard

Nice T-shirt, Ari
black swan - thom yorke, great!
Hey Ari killer first off but could you tell me what crash cymbal that is then the ride on your right?
Rhythm !!
Haha nice Ornette Coleman quote around 11:27!
I forget the name of the piece but it's off of Skies of America
Ari great drumming man! I am curious what kind of snare drum are you using here, it sounds killer!
7:43 Awesome ring modulator psychedelic beams blow my mind!
What's sitting in front of his bass drum? (not the mic)
What kind of crash is Ari using to the right of his ride? Beautiful sound.
+Jordan It's the Darude by Sandstorm
nice meme
I even looked it up thinking it was some cymbal company I hadn't heard of. You got me good.
Wow, I know this place but have avoided it for years because of a shitty-attitude waiter there. Looks like I'm missing out .Wayne Krantz is amazing.
+Anon Anan nice comment!
+KeroThreeman Half-nice anyway. :-)
Nice from 8:00!!
The bassist looks like he doesn't even know what's going on. As if musical gods are just controlling his hands to do that and he's just like "Alright I'll play along with it..."

Carlos Ferrão
I’d say it’s more like being possessed by passion
Anthony Tidd is Steve Coleman bass player he is a beast, chek him Out .... Also his own project (Quite Sane)
Magically bass lines .
Are there anymore videos from this show?
Same place, same band, different date.
ruclips.net/video/pOZqTNafdJs/видео.html
Yes I have more but they are not edited for video.
Wayne Krantz and Crazy Horse
Sounds like hard music to play
wowowowow
Why is his headstock covered with tape?
That question comes up in every video. Krantz has said he loves the guitar, but the maker's logo is very distracting so he covered it up with tape.
fudgesauce
Thx
what a FKNG RIFF
haha, thanks Franky!
great sounds- greta music!!! innovative like jimi does!!
thanks !
i wonder if they still remember how to play 'La Bamba'
interesting that he uses a Marshall....I always assumed it was a twin with that stratty tone....but I suppose now I think about it does have that Marshall cut to it...
+Colly Flour He used to go into an old Deluxe Reverb. That was his sound for Long to be Loose, 2 Drink Minimum and Greenwich mean. At some point he changed to the Marshall when he wanted a grittier sound.
Yeah I thought so ....that 's the sound I was hearing on the 2 Drink Minimum album
Everbody on here i doing a awesome job
this is the rocket...im in da kosmos now
If i tried eating during this art, I'd end up sticking the fork in my cheek.
why do I even try playing the drums? I should just play the triangle or something; I'll never be this good.
no worries, just keep on playing and practicing. Or check out my drums -books :) you'll get there!
Wayne's' World ...like Michael Landau ..in french l'absolu !
I’m not a drummer and I love Hoenig but is he deliberately playing right on top of the beat?
This is Black Swans
The original drummer!
If I ever meet Ari, I'll have to ask him why he raises his sticks so high before the down stroke. Seems so un-economical, but on the other hand he's really damn good so - moot point? Curious, though.
ladies and gentlemen. . . Quentin Tarantino on drums
Black swan
Snare Omar Hakim ...
thanks!
Good sound this snare ... and you play ( this ) very well , waouhhhh :) , thanks !!!
it's now 2020. notice what a crappy, beat up, mismatched drumset ari is playing. now notice how nobody noticed because his playing is so awesome. as a recovering drum gearhead, it took me seven years to realize this.
Dude, that bass is so nice! it looks like a Carvin/Kiesel.
I think Radiohead should employ Ari!
How about the whole band!
I just wish for the drummer's sake that he would take a drink of water.
new world 9
Far out Ari
🙈
now THIS is a muthaf**kin drummer….
