      We can make biodegradable plastics from hemp, you can actually use hemp to make a lot things from rope to flooring tiles and the list goes on.

      In my opinion, because there are not economic interests behind it.
      For the climate change, you have a growing industry that makes and sells products that are supposely ecological. You also have political parties whose ideology goes in line with consumtion reduction, environmental refugees, etc. So, there are strong interests behind convincing us on the importance of climare change.
      This is different for plastic pollution. Plastics are stable, cheap and light-weight. Ideal for logistics and packaging. Any replacement for them would increase costs. This replacement is not convinient for our economic system.

    I was literally the first to address this over 20 years ago in a series of lawsuits that lasted for 20 years. It's the most likely cause of our demise because it absorbed PCBs and has killed or displaced half the phytoplankton in my lifetime. As plankton goes all life will soon follow.

    The prevalence of micro-plastics is really scary. Yet, the affects on human health aren’t conclusive, and it really brings up the question;
    “Do the problems caused by micro-plastics outweigh other sources of pollution?

      Hi Vivek. Sadly, there isn’t much we can do until we reduce the sheer quantity of plastic we use and consume. On a personal level, we can start by not using things like artificial fibers, glitter, etc. But, individual changes are not enough unless large manufacturers bring their outputs down. Do keep writing in. - S. Ramesh.

    The power to make a change lies with us, as consumers. We need to consciously and voluntarily shun products packaged in heavy plastic and try to reuse as much as possible. The recycling system is under massive strain, hence recycling rates are in their early teens 😓
