I’m a 65 year old woman and I love my 55 Power Wagon! It is the envy of all the guys in my area and I call it my man magnet. 😊Used it on the ranch for years and it is a beast.
My friend in Oklahoma had a '46 with a '69 426 Hemi and 2-1/2 ton milliary axles on 56" ag tires. He put six Cadillac mufflers on it so that it was so quiet that it sounded like a six banger! He had a seat against the tailgate with full harnesses. That sucker could do a wheel-stand and leap ten feet in the air at the top of a steep hill! ♥️♥️♥️
listening to that gear reduction is amazing! i am always amazed to see these old power wagons roll down a steep hill and actually have to gas it because of the massive gear reduction.
That's a bad ass truck I've always wanted one of them I love how he still running the old flat head six in theat truck those engines are die hard. I love it
Funny how something 70ish years old with a basic gas straight 6, Detroit Lockers, low axle ratio, and manual transfer case and transmission is able to do so much and yet so called “modern” off roaders can barely make it through a trail without getting stuck, scraped, overheated, throw a code having an air damn or fender flair ripped off.
That old blue color is so cool, old work trucks painted blue or green just looked the part of a hard working forgotten hero. Old Mack’s have the rounded cab too, beautiful machines.
When I was a kid in the sixties, a friend of my father had one of these, I think made in the fifties. Used to love to go hunting and fishing in it! I felt like we could go anywhere. Guy driving it is smart: he knows that hotdogging like the stupid kids do is not only bad for the vehicle, but can get you in trouble quickly...
@Johnny White At the time it was made, men had more common sense and this whole hot dogging thing off road would've been considered kid stuff. Plus, they wouldn't have wasted the gas,...
Extremely neat old trucks, I have a 1950 Power Wagon I have stripped down to the bare frame and am in the process of Powdercoating frame and all associated parts, engine is brand new overhauled its converted to 12 volt after inspecting and resealing the PTO, Trans and transfer case it will start to go back together, also the body was professionally restored to better than brand new condition. When its completed I will drive it for a couple months and it will be for sale, OH and the truck has only 18K original miles. Somebody asked about getting a beautiful OLD LOOKING truck like this but with all the new crap we are all so used to on todays pickups, there is a company in Wyoming I believe that is doing just that, taking a Power Wagon body and mounting it on a brand new modern chassis. They have the standard version of the body, then the extended cab version and finally the 4 door version of the Power Wagon. Standard cab 190,000 Extended cab version 225,000 and the 4 door version 380,000 USD$$$
Karl K they are turning back customers. Not sure I completely get it. They are cool, but the cab isn’t any wider making it tight for modern-day Americans if you know what I mean.
@@Pickuptrucktalk I totally agree with you and there is another company I just found called Desert Power Wagons they are doing the same thing and their starting price for a standard cab is 190,000. To the best of my knowledge the cabs are modified for length only NOT anything for width, thats a tight cab by todays standards, fitting 3 in a standard cab sure isnt going to last very long. I am totally with you on the not getting it part all I know is I need to get mine done this winter and sell it before the bubble bursts!!
I have a 1952 PW, just cleaned the rat nest off the straight 6 today, and fired it up. Still purrs like a kitten. Need to fix 2nd and reverse before I hit the trails.
That looks pretty tame compared to some of the places where we used to drive our 1949 Power Wagon back on the ranch, around Possum Kingdom Lake. We went up old oil-driller's paths that were grown up with brush, and we just plowed right through it, used the winch to move fallen trees out of the way, and climbed hills so steep I felt like it was going to flip backwards.
This is how I like to see these trucks....most of the ones I see have air ride seats. AC power windows and raidos, big Cummins turbo diesel, basically they take a brand new Jeep and put a power wagon on it....this is how it's ment to be!!!! Right here. All original Bad Ass dodge Power Also would like to say....the upgrade ones are still cool....I like the Cummins in them but other than that....all original is ok
Jeep wrote the book on 4WD. Dodge Power Wagon followed the book close in its own right. An engineer at Chrysler Corp must have worked hard at drumming up the 4WD for Power Wagon.😊
When people ask "if you could import any american car, what would it be?" This is my answer. And this is why. Or maybe an E-350 van or whatever they are 😂
Amigo le ablo desdé Colombia está muy bonita la camioneta tengo una de esas pero me falta todo lo de adelante ósea el wincher y dónde vad pegado ósea la defensa se consige por aya grasias
Glad to see that PW being used as it should and not be restored to the point of being a trailer queen with electric side steps and all that crap, so the fat cat that buys that $200,000 restored PW can actually GET IN IT.
These trucks top out around 50 mph. Beyond that it is just too much for your body and the rear gearing. They were designed for work and not highway driving.
@@rorymunroe3771 To my knowledge the only other gear choice was 4.88s that was more of a highway friendly gear and not many came with them. They are a nice upgrade if you plan to drive them!
Old school looks with NEW school amenities is totally available and in 3 versions of the venerable Dodge Power Wagon (FLAT FENDER)! You can get them with the original style body or you can get and extended cab style or you can get the 4 door version all the versions start out with and original Power Wagon body. You can pick what style that you want, then select what NEW chassis/engine you would like to have in the truck, then what electronics, vibrating seats diesel engine or petrol essentially in the end you are getting what started out as an original Dodge Power Wagon body then you pick your personal way of making it into what you want. The basic truck will set you back about 190,000 USD the extended cab is a bit more at 235,000 USD but then again YOU deserve ONLY the best so I would highly recommend the 4 door version at a nice cool 300,000 USD with this truck you can pretend you are John Wayne fully knowing that this is the truck HE would be driving!! Good luck with that.

I'll take this kind of capability over a 200 mph top speed any day of the week!
Love how he uses it as a truck and not a garage queen! Love these old power wagons!
Same. So glad I hit a ride!
I'd take that over a new one any day.

Yeah only trade off is fuel efficiency haha
They aren’t really that low
Yea forsure I wonder how good that cab is sealed up tho I no in my Toyota second gen jdm 4 runner I can push water/mud with the windshield and be ok
Are those old man emu shocks if so that's gona be the best ride your gonna get out of that thing especially if u put some coils in there too
Yes sounds more like one would expect a ufo to sound! Lol
Best truck ever made IMO, and it could do it all.....

Damn, that thing is a beast. Love the gear whine in some of the shots. Reminds me of trucks from my younger days.
If John Wayne were a truck, he'd be this truck

The company is in Driggs, Idaho right on the other side of Jackson Hole, WY. I’ve been to the shop and did a so-so video on their trucks.

Yeah, I'd buy this all day if I could find one. Rides like crap compared to new trucks, but all metal in the cabin.
Any mods you would like to share?
Shackle reversals?
