In COD mobile there was an event involving the crew and instead of replacing Takeo's voice actor they didn't give him any lines, which is kinda nice of them, though it would be difficult to find an actor that can approach Takeo's original voice.

His daughter has come out and openly said he won't be going back to voice acting, as even two years later he has incredible difficulty speaking and communicating in general. Its sad, but he's luckily got a very supportive and caring family who are helping him with his new normal

The reason Takeo's character didn't shine early on was because the others had much more comical stereotypes. Takeo was basically just a generic Imperial Japanese soldier. Dempsey is basically every stereotype of a US Marine amped up to 10. Nikolai is an alcoholic, dysfunctional, but badass Russian Soviet. And Richtofen is your crazy Nazi scientist caricature. Meanwhile, Takeo was basically just the most generic Imperial Japanese soldier imaginable since most of his OG lines were just "muh emperor and honor."

I don't want them to recast Tom Kane. That's the equivalent of saying "you're all expendable, and we can simply replace you"; which is fucking scummy. Either let Aether die with dignity like it did before, or make it so that Richtofen and Samantha are the only two we'll be with throughout the journey. Perhaps Sam/Eddie could do a monologue about how when the Cold War began, they went to find their "old friends" in hopes of getting their help. But when they saw Tank, Nikolai and Takeo all had the lives they wanted; they were left in peace. Takeo got to see his children playing together. Nikolai got to return home to his beloved. And Dempsey went on to teach and train the future generations.
To me Takeo becomes more interesting the longer you get to know him. I think at first he is the stoic one to contrast the others, but after going through hell and back with the others they start to rub off on him.
i think takeo’s whole thing is to be overlooked but when you actually take time to view it ends up being a hidden gem. especially when he has his good moments
