Kalie Terry Gaga never lip synced a performance. There's some parts where she stops singing for a bit while she's dancing really hard (btw Sia never dances) and let's the backtrack play so she has breath to sing the chorus. That's it. And actually she doesn't do that anymore...

She trained very hard to get that kind of voice and it's very complex. Sia is a 40 year old woman who went through a lot of bad things in her life before she had her first breakthrough with "clap your hands" and her second, very very big breakthrough with chandelier, elastic heart etc. you can hear and feel how the stages of her life (drug abuse & more) afflicted her. she also has a HUGE vocal range, i have no proof but i think hers is bigger than gagas. You can clearly hear that on 1000 FoF, that's when she started with pop. before that, she did some kind of electronica-indie-rock, i cant really find a fitting genre. what i want to say is that i think sias music and voice seems much more authentic to me than gagas. yes, gagas voice is brilliant and she never sings off key, but to me it feels like she's trying to hard. thats why i prefer sias music: "and i don't care if i sing off key, i found myself in my melodies, i sing for love, i sing for me, i shout it out like a bird set free".

Like Do What U Want is not a song about sex but it's a song about telling the media to F*CK OFF and do whatever they want with her image.

I feel like you've only seen the mainstream Sia songs if you don't think Sia has vocal flexibility. It makes me really sad. Oh well. Lady Gaga's voice will age like Sia's did. I really do hope she still sounds just as good as Sia does when she reaches 40. Also, when you mention versatility, I feel like you don't really understand how hard it is to do intentional voice breaks then switch back to normal octaves continuously throughout tracks. Unless you didn't realize that's a form a vocal versatility/stability, then I guess you'd be right. Gaga's smoothened belts are totally versatile. XD classically, you can say Gaga wins since she is more orthodox and by the books of what we normally hear. But full on vocal wise, considering all of the different genres and videos cap techniques Sia has shown throughout her 20+ year singing career, Sia would win. As much as I love Gaga and followed her, throughout the start of her career, Sia's dramatic vocal changes in her musical career, she's proven that she can sing pretty much anything. I seriously can't wait to see what Gaga does when she is Sia's age.
I listened a lot to Sia's old records (as well as 1000 Forms of Fear) and I have to disagree with you. I mean, I love her, but a lot of her singing has the same type of feel and similar tones. She has like three variations - belting, singing softly and singing sharply (or nasally or whatever they call it in musical terms).. Personally I prefer the softer singing from her, I find it relaxed and honest. I still listen to some of the old really sensitive and fragile songs, like many of the songs from Cólour the Small One. That album is really beautiful.
Sia sing with : Pain, heart, and soul. Just listen to her old song. Even Celine Dion says that she is incredibly talented, that her voice is so incredible and she is one of her fans. Amy Winehouse, when sia ask her making new project , Amy didn't want because she feels intimidated with Sia's talent.

I feel like you've only seen the mainstream Sia songs if you don't think Sia has vocal flexibility. It makes me really sad. Oh well. Lady Gaga's voice will age like Sia's did. I really do hope she still sounds just as good as Sia does when she reaches 40.
Also, when you mention versatility, I feel like you don't really understand how hard it is to do intentional voice breaks then switch back to normal octaves continuously throughout tracks. Unless you didn't realize that's a form a vocal versatility/stability, then I guess you'd be right. Gaga's smoothened belts are totally versatile. XD classically, you can say Gaga wins since she is more orthodox and by the books of what we normally hear. But full on vocal wise, considering all of the different genres and videos cap techniques Sia has shown throughout her 20+ year singing career, Sia would win. As much as I love Gaga and followed her, throughout the start of her career, Sia's dramatic vocal changes in her musical career, she's proven that she can sing pretty much anything.
I seriously can't wait to see what Gaga does when she is Sia's age.
I listened a lot to Sia's old records (as well as 1000 Forms of Fear) and I have to disagree with you. I mean, I love her, but a lot of her singing has the same type of feel and similar tones. She has like three variations - belting, singing softly and singing sharply (or nasally or whatever they call it in musical terms).. Personally I prefer the softer singing from her, I find it relaxed and honest. I still listen to some of the old really sensitive and fragile songs, like many of the songs from Cólour the Small One. That album is really beautiful.
