@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew hey im working on the same type of laptop and there is a red tint to the screen and its beepin its ass off at me, got any tips?
Hey Andrew, I'm a fan of yours and I've been enjoying your content since a long time now. I am a laptop guy just like you and you are doing a great work by making these videos. Not a lot of people here at RUclips make the content like yours. I am studying cybersecurity and in this field, the use of operating system "Linux" is used very often. So I wanted to suggest you to try using Linux in these old hardwares, as it can be better than older versions of windows and can perform modern tasks at a light form factor. Thanks for always making good content. Kudos.
This one is by far the beautiest notebook restorarion on your channel. Good job! Great content as always and that red dragon with lights is astonishing
After watching you for a long time i finnaly made my first restoration i was scared cuase i might make permanent damage to my laptop and it turned beautifly ive learned a lot from your videos thankyou for entertaining and inspiring us
22:20 I expected you to turn down the lights and get the dragon to shine with the drop, that wold have been sick ❤ that's a great ass work, keep it up Andrew, much love ❤❤
I think the dragon logo should've been 2" at the most. I know it's what every real manufacturer does but it looks more clean. Still love the video, I always look forward to your uploads. Best soundtracks on YT!
Andrew, man i enjoyed every second of you restoring this Laptop, man i was bored and this video just chill me up, awesome work on restoring this oldy to a something enjoyable to look at, best wishes man, keep up your great videos bro
the upgrade was not that much, but you did a great job. this a true restoration not like the other youtubers who replace almost all the components and chassis. Great Job man!
My routine, after watching how JerryRig destroying any gadget and then watching Andrew how to repair. Your videos accompany my sahur time in Western Indonesia Time.
Really nice work. Reminds me of myself 15 years ago taking apart ThinkPads and painting them to give my daughter a lavender colored laptop. I really enjoy watching your work!
These videos make us feel good on our mid-tier laptops. :) The internals of that laptop looks already clean for a 15yrs old laptop...the fan must be really bad in bringing air (& dust) to the internals..
Really nice upgrade! Your videos have inspired me to look at my older laptops and upgrade them where required. Also, if you need a replacement hard drive for laptop with IDE connector, IDE hard drives are relatively low capacity and now starting to be quite expensive. You can get IDE to mSATA converter on eBay for about £10, then fit an mSATA SSD. I will probably do this whenever I need to fit a new disk into an old IDE connector.
Just gonna say that you're way better than those fake restoration channels. You know, the ones that find discarded electronics in the dump and try to fake fix them.
ur absolutely a fabulous and creative !! I've actually had the same laptop 15 years ago and now I regret selling it out after watching this video looool :)
My friend, i love you video's. They are really good and i really enjoy watching them. Keep up the good work and i am going to watch another amazing video of you :)
hi i'm samuel from st vincent i love what you do i must say you have patience to strip a laptop to its very last and from memory fit it all back together wow i do a little for myself but not sure if i would ever reach your level i have a few laptops thats not working i'm going to practice on one of them you are an inspiration keep it up
Aaahhhh, when vga ports was standard and laptop designs stays the same for newer models until trends changes. I got a similar acer from 2006 that has intel core duo cpu with 1 gb ram and 80gb of hdd with ati gpu... forgot what ati it was... but the laptop has overheating issues and I didn't know anything about laptops and computers back then and youtube was pretty much still in it's infancy in my country... Seeing such an old beast being resurrected here is pretty awesome :D
My grandfather has this laptop lol and he used it from 2006-2012 and I played half life and other good old games on it. It's a slow laptop but the nostalgia keeps it alive !
The transformations that you make in the notebooks are beautiful, you are an expert in this; Invest in it to make money with customers you are very good at what you do and the paintings are getting top !!! A pity that in this video Acer did not install Windows 10 Pro on it, just put an SSD and increase the ram that would be top !!!
What you've done is so great .. really .. i just kind of feel it's just a waste of time because no one would use this kind of laptops nowadays.. I just wish that someday you'll upload a video in which you upgrade an already powerful enough pc to a beast pc .. u got the skill and the imagination to build and upgrade a full option gaming pc .. i wish u consider this idea
Actually, install a light Linux distro, and you would have a very capable system for everyday tasks. You don't need updated specs to check social media, watch RUclips (maybe not in HD, though) and use offimatic suites. In developing or third world countries, such a machine would mean a way for some to bridge the digital divide, somewhat.
This old acer remind me of mine aspire 5735. They weren't much back in the day but when it comes to gaming they sure were capable of running games that had high requirements back then without heavy impact on performance.
Very cool, I like these Acer laptops and I’ve restored and upgraded one myself. It’s specs are Core 2 Duo T7200, 4GB DDR2 667MHz and 240GB SSD running a custom version of Windows 7
That's really cool ! I like those entire restoration projects with the cool designs you do ! Great video If you see this, I wanted to ask you something : what would be your method for removing stuck screws on a laptop heatsink (without breaking them forever preferably) ? I tried the rubber band technique already but nothing works...
I like this. The red and black look great together. I think the dragon should have been smaller, but that's just my opinion. What did rigger me was you painting over the Acer logo on the back of the lid and model # on the bezel. But the machine looks way better than when you started.
Thank you bro :). actually I planned to make the logo smaller, but the plastic on this laptop is very thick and hard, not flexible. I afraid to not brake it because i don't have another case :D. But if i do this on the newer laptop, then that is a different story. The newer laptops have thinner and more flexible plastic, and cutting, modifying it will be much easier
I think you should have used a Compton tape for the heatsink, it is not sensitive to high temperature, it is made to resist up to 400 °C. Have a nice day!
That came out really nice. I really need to find the brand of paint you are using. It seems to work really well. None of the paint (for Plastic) I have tried gives the best results.
Another excellent video! Andrew, in the next projects, would you do with a Lenovo ThinkPad? I had a T410, good times. I suspect it was made of adamantium... XD Stay well in this difficult time, hugs from Brazil!
Too bad you didn't use an m.2 IDE enclosure. I used one on my old laptop, and it absolutely crushed the speeds of the old HDD. Also, you could replace the optical drive with a caddy that allows you to put the old IDE drive as a second storage drive, or even put a SATA drive inside instead. Also, yeah 4GB would be better. You can also take advantage of the expansion slot to give this laptop USB 3.0 ports. Those upgrades would allow it to run Windows 10 with no issues whatsoever. I've gotten Win10 to run on much weaker hardware without issue, so it can be done XD Sweet video though. Awesome mods.
@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew Oh yeah I totally agree. There's always something that "could have been done better" or "could have had more time spent on it", but that doesn't take away from the achievement you've made. I imagine this is the 32bit hardware. Rather than 64? If so, it is a fun machine. Can run a lot of legacy software you simply can’t run anymore.
