Montane West appreciate your comment and yes I do see that this motor was boosted before And maybe abused a little, we are trying to decide what to do. I think you're right, good used motor might be a better option
    Thanks again Serge

It's hard to say there could be many reasons for that motor to over heat, I believed it was turbocharged due to the bung on the oil pan and with turbo systems it's easy to have overheating problems probably due to a lack of oil/lubrication which cause it to wear on the bearings hard, he could have ran stock bearings with to much boost which is no bueno he could not have plastigauged the main and rod bearings before installing them and dirt or debris would cause scaring also...pull the oil pan next and see if theres any metal shavings in the oil pickup if so you may want to find a cheap ls block that's complete going to the shop and having everything redone will get expensive very fast and you want your first project to be fun you want to learn a lot and you want to get annoyed of course lol but if you run out of funds a project can become scrap faster than you bought it I mean it's all part of the process but keep in mind how much shops cost for work and labor and keep your eyes peeled for other motors and deals Facebook marketplace and letgo and even craigslist will become your best friend...lmk if you have any questions
