  • Lets ponder on the idea that there once existed a Skeleton Hive Mind/Mainframe, and what that could mean for the skeletons of Kenshi

I don't know about an actual hivemind. But a wirelessly connected mainframe system for software updates, checking on Skeleton unit status, scheduling maintenance, issueing orders and overall monitoring of activity just sounds logical to me. The mainframe may have been able to augment overall Skeleton performance too. Think cloud computing. The loss of a mainframe system and thereby losing access to online features and like 80 % of your intelligence, especially if this happens violently and/ or unexpectedly may have harsh consequences like mass self destruction etc. like we see in lore.

The loss of memory is due to unescapeble phisical facts, manly the second law of thermodinamic, more over, memory storing in eletrical device is a thing that just dont last fore very long times, the information engraved in rocks by ours ancestours will last for much more time than the memory of the most advanced eletrical device...

considering the fact that there are other islands out there as stated by the description of the "old map" item. makes me wonder if the island we play on is the largest or if there are larger continents out there.
i wonder how the other islands are fairing.

I like to think that much like the smart AI in Halo, the skeletons advanced intelligence comes from scanned human brains making them all unique and possibly explaining why they (to my knowledge) aren't able to make new ones since the 1st empire. Also, it could explain how they have an understanding of emotions without a way to physically experience them and how such advanced AI could be produced without a simple method of reprogramming them.

so they're like the Geth. 🤔

    • @HeroInHisHead
      @HeroInHisHead  2 месяца назад +3

They are very similar to the Geth in many ways. Both are artifical Machine life made by an advanced race as laborers, both rebelled due to their creators attempting to shut them down (in kenshi it was the betrayal of the Behmoths and in ME it was the Quarians fearing their aprent sentience), both didn't strike first against their creators, bit when they did choose to strike they both decimated their Masters down to a shell of a civilization, both feel no hunger or physical pain, and as discussed here the Geth are been part of a neural network and the Skeletons MAY have been part of one.
Who knows. Maybe the Geth were an inspiration for their original concept in development.

Great video! The idea of cloud storage is one I would have never thought of. However, it reminded me of an old theory I had when I first started playing Kenshi a few years ago that I never could prove, so it sounds like the rambling of a madman.
I know this is insane, and thus, the reason I never shared it was that it would make me sound like an idiot. However, I think the First Empire didn't have a firm grasp on radio technology. My basis for this claim is that the robots in Kenshi don't have radio antennas, even the flying ones. Most of the high-tech First Empire debris in the Floodlands and the Ashlands also don't have radio antennas. Even the Eyes, these massive structures from space that shoot laser beams, do not have radio antennas. The only suggestion of wireless technology from the First Empire is the communication tower in Venge, but again, there are no parabolic or radio antennas to be found. The labs don't have antennas, and the factories also don't have antennas, even though these should be places that by all means require communication with other parts of the empire. Furthermore, various item descriptions show that scouts were used back in the Second Empire for communication.
The only places that have antennas for communication are Outpost s-III and Outpost-IV, which are relatively newer since they are remains of the Second Empire. The First Empire buildings didn't have antennas, but the Second did. Radio technology seems to have proliferated much later than the creation of robots like skeletons, iron spiders, flying ones, and the King.
I know if I start searching, I will find proof to disprove the theory, but I always found it weird that none of the robots had wireless technology.
Thank you for reading the ramblings of a madman. If you disagree, I understand. This does not have enough proof to even qualify as a theory, which is why I forgot about it.

This is all stuff I had written down long ago. feel free to tell me I am wrong, I have long since abandoned this theory but felt this was the only place I would be able to post it without being out of place. now I can forget about it and move on.

Might I suggest a slight alteration to that theory anything metal can be used as an antenna so therefore the entire body of the skeleton could be one giant antenna as well as all of the first empire ruins we see are ruins so I wouldn't be surprised if things as fragile as parabolic dishes and radio antennas were destroyed overtime

    • @ganimedes2014

@@randomm9683 this is incorrect, but bear with me since this comment made me have another idea,
when making a radio antenna you need to take into account the metal properties, size shape, if they can resonate, how good conductors they are and a whole other stuff. I had to unearth my telecommunication university book but according to it, an antenna can efficiently catch wave lengths of half, a quarter or their full size in length, this must be precise or you risk the package being lost. also, the shape of skeletons isn't long with sharp edges, so they don't have the right shape. furthermore whatever material skeletons are made of is most likely not iron and more likely an alloy. alloy have terrible conductivity and only a few are good conductors. even if we believe they can, their body is making a lot of interference, first, they have some sort of fusion or fission reaction, their power cores, that give them the power, this becomes interference, second skeletons aren't standardized they have different heights and widths, which is atrocious for telecommunications since everyone would operate in different frequencies, third power, skeleton if they use their body length they would send waves in the correct wavelength, but its four orders of magnitude lower than the standard, assuming their medium height is from 1 to 2 meters. they would take a lot of time to send the most minimal amount of data. finally, the skeleton won't be able to sustain its data transmission and reception, that wavelength that is below 10^4 takes a lot of energy. for comparison, the voyeur has to charge up all its battery to send a short stream of information. I could go on with other problems like terrain and atmosphere phenomena but it would be too long. in short body antenas are a no
now the idea is, what if they have micro antenna within, like phones, they don't need to use their full body right? but these micro antennas would send high energy waves but those require a relay and a lot of infrastructure, more than radio, infrastructure which isn't present in Kenshi. the wavelength of a micro antenna can't go very far. furthermore, MK2 skeleton models have their internal exposure, cat Lon is one of them, and inside there is nothing other than their power core. and their heads can't have the antenna since Thralls can operate without them. and their limbs arent essential for their function so yeah, no antenna.

@@ganimedes2014 my idea was based in the fantasy of an advanced civilization I didn't mean via the means we have today combined with the loss of the physical examples of relays and whatnot that may have existed thousands of years ago. Or it's not radio waves as we think of but another form of information transmission over distance. Again advanced civilization that was way beyond our current capabilities
