Pruning Japanese maples can be daunting. We have a few tips for getting started.

Winter or very early spring is a good time to prune. With no leaves on the tree you can easily see where to make the cuts.

Hello thanks for the video , when thinning the branches do you have to cut them back at a bud? or can you cut the branch anywhere?

Every branch on mine, crosses another. No mater how often I watch this, I learn nothing. those two gabbing away, and the guy doing the cutting ? we're not allowed to see up close , for examples.
