My Sons Father and I divorced 45 years ago. Our Son was 2. My X could call anytime for a visit or overnight. He was an equal as a parent. Once our Son learned to use the phone, he would call or Dad would call him. Next thing I knew, was Dad knocking on the door and my Son looking at me and said “oh yeah, my Dads coming.” My Son was free to move between both homes. Dad always made sure our Son was prepared and where he needed to be before school. We were always on the same page about his raising. We all share family events together. We decided very early on, that neither of us would ever want to be excluded. Much respect.

I love hearing stories like this. It always amazes me when I see two parents with only their kid's best interests in mind. Setting aside their hurt feelings and focusing on what matters rather than petty grievances to get back at eachother. My parents divorced when I was still an infant and it was not at all amicable. What followed for the next 18 years was my parents playing tug-of-war with me. I can't begin to tell you the effect being the messenger between 2 angry adults had on my life up until now. People don't realize how their actions can profoundly effect their kids, for life. I have a hard time telling people "no" or setting boundaries. This people pleasing had led to being a doormat for men to take advantage of in almost all my romantic relationships. The mere thought of getting married and having children is so terrifying to me that it's never been close to being an option.
Wow. Sorry for that rant. Thank you for being a good parent to your kid.

As the child of divorce who was not able to have a relationship with my father until I was almost 30 due to my mother’s manipulation and interference, I have to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for what you and your ex did for your child. I can’t begin to tell you how much I would have valued that kind of co parenting so much rather than what I experienced. I hope your son appreciates how much his parents obviously love him to have been so willing to work together. It is scary how many people hate their ex more than they love their child. Thank you for making YOUR child the most important factor…not always easy I’m sure, but you clearly did an amazing job!

-After 8 years she still hasn't earned the access to unsupervised visits
-Allegedly Major concerns by the supervisor about her conduct during those visits
    -Victim advocate involved
-Lying to the court multiple times (in a way that is easily checked)
-Complaining about time changes that she could have fixed
    -Failing to properly communicate
-Asking for unsupervised visit in another state when she currently only have supervised visits
-Allegedly skirting orders with grandma and calling incessantly
-Baseless accusations of coaching and wanting unsupervised access (likely to coach him herself)
She is painting a bad picture against her, and her own actions are the paintbrush.
I'm happy that their son has one parent who seems down to earth and reasonable.
She's likely going to be in for a rude awakening in a few years when the court starts deciding that the child is old enough to provide input into some of the courts decisions and puts more weight onto the child's own words.

All amazing points! This case has me sick. I have 8 year old twins and I cannot fathom not doing everything within my power to be with them. It seems like all of this “court stuff” takes up too much of her precious “me” time.
I’d never put myself in this position but if for some absolutely insane reason I ended up here I would be answering every call, email, letter, telegram, and carrier pigeon message as soon as it hit my eyes and I’d do whatever was asked of me. She needs to grow up or just leave her child & his dad alone. In a few short years, her son will have his own say as to whether or not he meets with his mother at all!!! So sad!! 💔

Cps is just one of those hard type it of situations. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Ive seen a few court cases where cps agents wernt on time, this one case where the case worker was shut out of the house on a supervised visit where the mother went missing and the youngest child was a witness based off what he told the caseworker and investigation team during his Interview or perhaps it was the school teacher. They have instances where they are notifications from family and friends with grudges which they can report unanimously, there's the parents who wernt reported who eventually the kids died from their abuse and bodies hidden, there were kid removed for no apparent reasons that the parent or care giver knows. In the news this week I've seen a mother who left her baby in the tub seat to read a book to her other child, called 911 gave her sister's name and got arrested aswell as a mother and father who clearly have a drug problem left their child in a cage a playpen with zip ties and a gate ontop ,mother saying she has some illness and a bug was going thru the home, so dirty that the kid died from lack of care. There was a case where a mother of two children was scared to death of her ex husband. She told her friends and family he is going to kill her. Do you know that she fled from their country to Sydney to be safe and did you know that he (even though he had a prior record of something) he was able to have CPS order her back to the country and he kept calling he kept violating the orders In place. Do u know what happened? He murdered her. I can't imagine having to live knowing that if you did something she would have been alive. It's a tough job breaking up families but sometimes for the sake of the child it needs to be done.

I worked in the child welfare field for many years. Supervising agencies all have different policies regarding how they schedule and confirm visitation appointments. They tend to be even more defined and restricted if there's a history of lack of compliance and/or participation. So the agency requesting a written confirmation of intention to keep the visit, or else the visit is cancelled, is not uncommon - especially if she has a history of no-show. I have seen cases where the supervisor will not even retrieve the child until the visiting parent shows up, to avoid putting the child through the process of going into the agency for the visit, only to be disappointed.

It amazes me how people think that notarizing a document somehow guarantees the veracity of the content and therefore admissible as irrefutable evidence…WRONG. The only Thant that notarizing does is indicate the identity of the person either central to or submitting the document has been cross-checked, and that the document was signed by that confirmed individual in the presence of the Notary. That’s it. That’s all it does.

This judge's demeanor is perfect for Family Court. I once worked in child protection/child welfare and this judge's personality is built for this type of court. Now, re: the Karen's case, I'd be interested to know the details of this case...back from initial divorce/custody circumstances. I wonder what her issues are that she has such limited custody. Also, who are these other people who didn't say anything the whole time?

    • @MHLegacy
      @MHLegacy Год назад +2

My thoughts exactly. Family court can be very emotionally heated and one method of verbal de-escalation is to soften one's voice and lower your volume, which causes others to mirror your tone. This method is especially effective if you're in a position of authority, such as the judge.
