He actually does know a lot about human feelings. He knows all too well, in fact. Scaramouche himself has emotions and he has seen all types of people. He probably just can't fully understand why these emotions lead to what they do and can't comprehend why he had to keep being in pain, that's why he tried to get rid of them.
