I don’t like hearing everyone repeating that most day traders fail. Finish the statement. Most day traders quit because they can’t fail and keep going. That’s in everything, not just trading. I wish people would emphasize that anyone can learn if they don’t quit.

i agree same look at % in buisness any buisnees 90% fail in first 2 years. only about 40 percent of students who apply to medical school each year get accepted.any other high end field. its that Daytrading is easy to get in ,hard to master

100% is on everything. My background is e-commerce and out of every single course I’ve taken, like 90% of people would simply quit (either thing is too much work, don’t study enough, or any other excuse).
Persistence is key. And this one is not for everyone. You need that entrepreneur soul just to keep pushing when things get hard and you will make it.
Saying 90% traders fail is not cause trading is rocket science. Is cause, like on any endeavor, you gonna need max effort and max focus.

My biggest winners came from smallest positions, meaning I was actually not emotionally bound to my trades, I left them run, and I didn't care if I got stopped out. At that point I kept the money, and my equity curve started making higher lows. Its all about the position size and patience.

I like how he said "Real systematic trading are so rules based that those rules should be questioned and tweaked or challenged often & people just don't want to do the work of tracking and back testing", I felt the same with indicators, it just price action in different visual forms. People who shit on indicators just don't know how to tweak it in their favor.

PROP FIRMS: Don't actually give you $100k accounts etc, they just name the account $100k, $300k etc. What you actually get once qualified is the amount of the allowable draw down. So if the $150k account says you are allowed a $4500 draw down once qualified, that's what you actually get to use as capital...$4500, NOT $150k. It's still great, don't get me wrong, but just know that your risk profile should be based on the drawdown, not the account name of "$150k Elite Account" and so on.
These companies thrive off of their monthly subscriptions and trades spending $80 or so on evaluations account "resets".
By all means do yourself a favor and get into the prop firm thing, just keep in mind that the account size is the drawdown, not the enticing title of $350k etc.
    Great interview guys, loved it!

Amazing interview, Etienne! After I finished that very book One Good Trade the same thing happened for me too. And thought the same things and from there proceeded with my first strategy. When I think about it now, I was kind of disappointed because that was a book about trading stocks, and it was all good until I reached the "reading the tape" chapter and I didn't know what that was. But actually the whole ideas described in there helped me come to a certain way of thinking things through. Take care and keep up the good work!
