    It's a learning curve, but you can't beat Winnerwell quality and customer service. I love my Winnerwell Nomad large stove. What people seem to forget is that, it's not sold as a sealed wood stove. I do plan on sealing mine so i can install it in my 1967 GM TDH-4519 city transit bus that I live in full-time. That removable cooking plate lid can be tig welded, either to the stove or the 3 cutouts in the lid. Thank you and God bless you and your family and America 🇺🇸

      Agreed- it is not designed to be a sealed stove- Having the gasket on the front helps me control the heat now. I wanted to seal the cooking plate lid but my Wife said no we may need it someday- It works now just fine so I am ok. I just saw recently a new stove that came out that takes pellets or wood. It has a hopper to self feed the pellets- it will burn about 10 hours. I wish I had something like that- it would have been nice to not have to get up every few hours to put another log on the fire.

    Thanks for being so honest. I haven’t seen one single negative review like yours. I have a Springbar tent and I would be devastated if it had a hole in it!

    Thanks!!! Everybody makes it seem like it’s the best stove. You are the second person on RUclips speaking on its flaws. Online there are a bunch of negative comments. I think it’s still a great product without having to examine for myself. I don’t think it’s for people who are going to use it everyday. Great review!!!!

    This is absolutely a very decent, honest and very informative review that I haven’t come across a lot on youtube for quite a long time. Really appreciate it. And man, I feel you, we are all in the same boat..watching all these fancy reviewvs, falling in love with the product and boom, facing the reality with naked eyes..glad that you haven’t gone through to some serious damage at your gear except those tiny itchy two black holes. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    Ive had the same problem with too much airflow...I havent tried the gasket yet but i did buy an 8x8 piece of stainless steel to put over the top of the round accessory door...it seems to reduce air flow pretty good

      I wanted to seal that round plate with the gasket putty but my wife said , no we may use that one day lol. But yeah- I knew I was not the only one having airflow issues!

    I just purchased the 12×12 Kodiak tent and been looking at wood stoves versus diesel heater. Im going with the diesel heater just for the reason you mentioned. I would be livid burning holes in my new tent.

    Wow super helpful. I also have no experience with wood stoves and I’ve been eyeing this exact stove for my white duck canvas regatta tent. Thank you for sharing!!

    Holes burned in tent from where pipe exited the tent? Winnerwell does sell a mesh protector to go around pipe.

    • @learningCountry
      @learningCountry  2 месяца назад

      @@7youngke yes. Right below where the chimney stack is. This stove comes with a wire mesh protector which we used. The issue was we had no way of controlling the fire as there too many air gaps that the fire was raging. Now that we fixed the problem. By adding a gasket to the front door. We no longer have the ash issue.

    I just had my first trip with the nomad large. I didnt have smoke issues as I didnt adjust the flue. However I found it very difficult to slow down the burn meaning I was up every 2 hours adding to the stove.
    I think I will add a gasket to the door. Did you still have smoke coming out of the top plate?

    • @learningCountry
      @learningCountry  8 месяцев назад

      I wanted to seal up the top plate but the wife wanted to keep it free. By installing the gasket I can control the rate of the burn and reduce greatly my risk of smoke.

    I have this stove and am about to use it for the first time, did you use the 5/8”x 1/8”x 84” gasket? And would that do the job?

    • @learningCountry
      @learningCountry  11 месяцев назад +3

      I bought 14ft x 5/8in x 1/8in Wood Stove Gasket Tape from Amazon and Rutland Products, Black Rutland Stove Gasket Cement, 2.3-Ounce Tube, Size, 2 Fl Oz from Amazon. Since you have the gasket material already just buy the gasket cement and make a thick bead all around the door and then put your gasket on top, close the door and latch it shut then open it and let it stay open for 12 hours. I had my stove on its back when I did the last part. Let gravity hold the cement and gasket in place.

    Very strange, I've been using my large nomad for 4 years. No problems

      We used ours again this weekend and it was perfect. I guess my version had to much of a gap in the door- adding the gasket did the trick for me.

    Sounds like the trouble with wet/unseasoned wood.

    • @learningCountry
      @learningCountry  3 месяца назад

      Nope, we used kiln dried wood. It was the gasket, or rather lack of a gasket. Since installing a gasket we have had zero issues.
