As a Stockport fan, it's incredibly frustrating to watch Carlton Palmer's lack of accountability as a manager. His inability to take ownership of the team's poor performances and his apparent disregard for responsibility is maddening. Instead of stepping up and addressing the issues head-on, Palmer often deflects blame, leaving fans disillusioned and questioning his commitment to the role. We deserve a manager who not only understands the game but also has the courage to accept responsibility and make the tough decisions necessary to turn things around.
Christ Almighty. Carlton needs to get a grip. I recall him taking a Stockport team to Millwall back in the day and he saw fit to play himself at Centre Forward. I can still recall him balling out his 17/18 year old goalkeeper that day too. Class. John Barnes was perhaps on a par when it came to delusional young coaches visiting The Den around that time. Barnes's Tranmere playing out from the back with players that just weren't up to it. Both games finished 4 or 5 nil I seem to recall.
He moans about Brendan Ellwood, says he's still friends with him, but then moans that (when he was playing golf in Portugal) he offered to pay him off but not pay his staff off? Or have I misunderstood?
He said mistakenly said Brendan Elwood wouldn’t pay him up, but he meant Brian Kennedy. For clarity, BE gave him the 3 year contract before he left, but then BK took over the club and sacked Palmer - then BK refused to pay him up even tho he had no break clause in the contract. Brian Kennedy only bought Stockport County so he could own the Edgeley Park stadium for Sale Sharks. He treated County as second class citizens in our own home (of over 100 years) got rid of all the County memorabilia and threw it in a skip. Honestly, a horrible period for the club and BK is a disgrace. Brendan Elwood was fantastic for Stockport County (promotion of Championship, semi finals of League Cup) whereas Brian Kennedy absolutely crucified us and nearly ended the club. BK eventually sold the club to the fans for £1, but kept the ground and charged us an absolute fortune - even taking 30% of transfer fees. This led to the club going into administration. Then we ended up in the National League North (two leagues below League 2!!)

Carlton picked Barnes in his all time XI funnily enough
I watched him at the albion , god knows how he got england caps.
Ball winning midfielder then gave it to the creative players. Absolute athlete.
