That was my present for mom's 80th birthday back in 2003. She was so proud, that she could vacuum again "on her own". She treated it as her pet. I later bought about 10 other ZA-1 and ZA-2 used or defective, so I still have plenty of spares. Main advantage compared to newer robots: The very strong Papst motor. I've never seen a robovac cleaning better, than this one. Side story: It uses a Motorola 68000 CPU, so it's basically a cleaning Mac Classic. ;)
I bought one when they came out in 2001. i used approximatly for 15 years. Had to change the batteries once. Find it an very good robotic cleaner. Today I use the succesor Electrolux Pure i9 as daily cleaner.
I Roger I Hope you are doing better then I am. I love watching you do unboxing and demonstration videos I have a few vacuum cleaner like a dirt devil Jaguar hoover with tool caddy a Electrolux 89 a three Kirby g5 and g4 Kirby classic 3 and a very very old singer from the 1922s and a old henry at my work
I’ve always liked them as an engineering firm. My UlraSilencer canister vacuum is still the quietest vacuum cleaner I’ve ever heard. It’s remarkably quieter than my Miele Pure Suction. Both are comparable straight suction compact canisters.
Omg I almost bought one of these from Fenwick. I thought it was £100 but it was £1000 so when the sales person went to get it from the stock room and I noticed my error I left the department as fast as I could 😅
I went to buy one of there all those years ago. The lady in Fenwick went to the stock room for it and I chickened out and left the store before she returned with it 😂
I have this vacuum cleaner successor ZA2 model few weeks ago but sold it back due to old battery which do not hold charge anymore than few minutes. These batteries are very pricey because they are the same which were installed in one of the first Husqvarna/Electrolux Automower, plus it needs two of them. Even pricey than Roomba standard NiMh battery. I don't want to invest money in such old and low efficient vacuum if I already have super robust Roomba 782e Where do you bought this new carpet and how much it cost?
If it is a Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh battery in the Trilobite then it should be relatively easy to rebuild the battery pack, very rarely are Ni-Cd/Ni-Mh batteries in consumer products anything other than standard and easily obtainable cells, plus modern cells would probably have a higher capacity increasing runtime even further. Though increased runtime is probably a moot point given it's more for it's place in history than anything else.
I have the silver Trilobite 2.0 and it has scheduling My friend's 2.0 is like yours. It does not have scheduling, but mine has. And btw if this one was never used, that batteries can be new, but they can be old and you need to buy new.
that scratch might be from the foam it was sitting in if it wasn't in a protective bag. would watch out for some of that foam it can ruin plastics keep an eye on your museum machines! \
So Electrolux AB returns to the US last decade and forces Electrolux US floorcare to rebrand their name to Aerus which has been devastating for the company’s brand recognition, sales and market share and last year Electrolux AB withdrew its floorcare line from the US market.
who elce hears the random thumping? I have a subwoofer and it sounded like some tumble drier having a seasure in the background or someone drumming or neighbours or something Also, did anyone elce pickup on the interference from the cleaner when it was going through different parts of it's cycles at different points in the video Kinda sounded like old cellphone interference
The noise was coming from the cellar where I keep the RUclips trolls. The crackling noise from the machine is normal and has something to do with the navigation.
The Dyson DC6 never made it to the production stage, so Electrolux were the first to manufacture a robotic vacuum for sale to the general public. Other manufacturers such as Panasonic had robot prototypes long before Dyson tried producing one.
They are probably never going to be as powerful as a traditional vacuum, but they do a fantastic job at keeping floors pretty much spotless - Provided you run them daily or every other day. On carpet however they aren't very good.
Well on hard floors they do ! An conventional Vacuum gets I think it was 96% of the dirt and an robot cleaner gets 94%. On carpet they’re not near at all ( we’re talking about differences minimum 20%). And with all these more box shaped models ( Roomba s9 Vorwerk VR100,200,300 and Neato) they even reach the edges better than some other vacuums !
Amazing moved on a lot since tomorrow's world outing but that had a remote :) The presenter looked like she was weight lifting with it he he ruclips.net/video/E0hkGUCmxy0/видео.html An excellent buy and great addition to your collection.
Loved watching this machine wander somewhat aimlessly around your new carpet. 👍

Thanks for doing such detailed video on this machine!
All that thumping in the background throughout the video - sounds like Roger's neighbours were getting pretty busy 🤣
criptyque 😂
@@jamiegoodliff9563 sorry guys (and Roger): I've got a mind like a gutter!
Sorry about that, they had just moved in. I went round to complain and discovered they were in the middle of a housewarming orgy.

Wow, sad that the brand isn't getting as much recognition as other robot vacuums. 🙁

I remember seeing this for sale back in the early 2000's thanks for sharing the video
I lpve your videos they are very entertaining
That's done a brilliant job much better than the modern robotics vaccum cleaners c
Seems ahead of its time. I saw a video on this a few months ago, apparently it has more suction than even the new 2020 models

I've reconditioned the battery pack with 30 PCS of GP 220sch ni-mh cell. Now the robot works great. The cells cost to me around 75 dollars.
Excellent video, thanks a lot! Where did you find a unit in such good conditions?
It is kinda good for a 2001 robot vacuum
Why it is moving so smoothly? 🤤
Some day, I want to mod a Samsung motion sync to have the same body motor as the trilobite and the same brush motor as the Dyson DC17
I have the silver Trilobite 2.0 and it has scheduling

In your next video can you unbox your Roomba e5 and can you do a video on your new carpet with the Miele scout please
This would have cost... 1000 POUNDS
He hasn't seen the new roomba has he 🥴
Hi this Is a great vacuum cleaner
Can anyone else hear the ultrasonic noise from the vacuum?
Hi it is because it is a turbo model that is why it is noisy as that
think that is RF signals it uses to communicate with the docking station using it as a sort of a signal tower
It only can be heard from the recording, you can’t hear it in real life.
@@asideofbeans5803I hear it in real life

Lovely video, as usual. I'm happy to see such a detailed review of this cleaner.
What on earth is that song at 23:10?
I can’t remember exactly, but it was from RUclips’s music library. I think it has robot in the title.
Wow look at the box was my first thoughts 💭 on introduction of video

It is an undeniably cool gadget and fun to use as a robot, but as an actual vacuum cleaner it does look next to useless unfortunately.
