- Another fine cut from Kentucky Educational Television's "Bluegrass Bluegrass" series. This was the 1977 show by New Grass Revival (Sam Bush, Courtney Johnson, Curtis Burch, and John Cowan). These shows were videotaped at "Diner's Playhouse" on Lexington, Kentucky's far north side.
We saw John Cowan about a month and a half ago. He’s still got his chops…

Saw this song featured in the Sam Bush documentary a couple nights ago. Had never heard of John Cowan before and spent the whole day today checking out his fine catalog of music while I work. Separately from the music, if there were an award of some sort for most remarkable physical transformation in the bluegrass singer/bass player category, he’d win in a landslide... this guy went on to become a genuine, big hair 1980’s rock star, like the kind the girls in the audience melt for when he walks on stage.
