Five million danish kroner is almost $800,000 for A ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT.
Welcome to downtown Vancouver, Canada. The average salary is under $60,000/yr and the average home in the whole city costs roughly $2000000. After taxes, you are left with roughly $40,000. It would take 100% of your income for 50 years to pay off a 0% mortgage. In a two income household it would still take 25 years of every penny you make to pay off the house. Obviously this isn't even close to possible and it's the reason why extremely few people can earn enough money on their own to buy a house. You almost always have to have substantial help from family. Add a historically normal 6.75% mortgage, 25 years, you pay roughly the same amount of interest as principal so it would take a couple earning average wages 50 years of all of their income to pay off the house.
The Hongkong Government can only do that much. Sad.
