There was another little quartet from England that gained fame in the late 60s and were very big in the early 70s. You might have heard of them. Led Zeppelin.
Its a crime to mention love and Revolver without talking about Here, There, and Everywhere and For No One, two of Paul McCartney’s best compositions he’s ever written
Why does everyone seem to neglect the hell out of “Let It Be” as an album? There are some fantastic songs in that track list and yet many videos about the Beatles seem to just gloss over that album completely.
It's generally considered to be one of their weakest albums. The whole process of making it involved a lot of infighting and stress. So much so, that their producer (widely considered to be "the fifth Beatle"), George Martin quit on them.
Jonathan Morales ya but Ringo always says in interviews that he even quit for a while during the White Album recordings due to certain disagreements. So I don’t think that just because the process was bad that it makes the songs inherently bad. Songs like “For You Blue” and “Two of Us” are way too good of Beatles songs to just not cover them, not liking the album isn’t really an excuse in my opinion, but to each their own.
@@jimmycello For me, I think it would be _Love Has No Pride,_ as recorded by Bonnie Raitt. (IMHO, a better rendition than even Linda Ronstadt's! That was a great video! I've grown up listening to the beatles in no particular order. I've consistently discovered songs through the years that have become special for me. Your video made me wish I could rediscover all of the beatles again.
One important love song is “Ob la di Ob la da”. It portrays a love story in its simplest form giving you a sneak peak at the bigger image of love. They talk about how Desmond and Molly meat and then they follow their romance up until they’re raising children. I also love how Molly still sings in a band. To me it’s a reminder that love should facilitate doing things you love
Of all the great songs the Beatles have done “Yesterday has a very special place in my heart” regret is a powerful emotion the yearning for what could have been what should have been leads us to a deep and often dark place . Yesterday is introspective and cathartic .
I think its important to remember that all these transformations in the Beatles sound and songwriting styles happened over just seven years. John, Paul, Ringo and the two Georges - the perfect storm.
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Not sure why but that line is absolutely beautiful to me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that The End was the last song all four members recorded to together.
Great video. Absolutely loved it as The Beatles are my favorite band of all time. I really wished you would have touched on "Here, There and Everywhere" as I think it's the best Beatles love song. Also would have like to see your input on "Real Love". Either way, loved the video and hope to see more Beatles content
Just now really getting into the Beatles, and I see why they are considered the Greatest. I'm listening chronologically and up to Beatles for Sale, but even in these early days you can tell the innovation. The harmonies are unbelievable, music is catchy, and lyrics are relatable (and I'm not even to the "best" stuff yet!) Great video and channel, keep up the great work! Also if you want to check out my reviews of the first few Beatles records they are on my channel!
They simply take my breath away, they are just perfection with their diverse music and lyrics. I guarantee, everyone can find at least one song they like from The Beatles.
Great video but you missed out on a couple of things: I think that you could have brought up "Norwegian Wood" (however over-mentioned it is) because it's the first Beatles' love song that really had to be "deciphered" because of its Bob Dylan-esque lyrics. Rubber Soul also focused more on the bitter side of love than the happy one compared to previous albums. "Think for Yourself" and "I'm Looking Through You" are fuming songs aimed at whoever crossed George's and Paul's paths (also Bob Dylan influenced). Revolver also had a few more songs you could have mentioned. "For No One" and "Here, There, and Everywhere" are two of the Beatles best love songs. While "All You Need is Love" is a bit naive in its lyrics, "For No One" and "Here, There, and Everywhere" are more developed in song structure and lyrical complexity. The line "And in her eyes you see nothing/ no sign of love behind the tears/ cried for no one/ a love that should've lasted years" is tremendous. "Here, There, and Everywhere" was Paul's favorite (and John's favorite Paul piece), and its composition is genius in the way it uses one stanza of "here", then "there", then "everywhere". However, these are just my opinions and I thought the video was great.
I've always loved something, but never really thought much about it, but it really does explain love. He keeps repeating that there's "something" about his lover, something that couldn't be put to words, only music. Love is such an abstract idea that the only way to truly express it is through music.
By far one of your best video essays. And not because the beatkes are if not my favorite band; they are the most relevant band in history. But you found an angle that hasn't been driven into the ground. I've never come across beatles content that doesn't hit the same notes. Love is alwaus in there but not how they treated it and the broader concept of "love" or intimacy or longing, etc. Very well done because i guarantee the thought" how can i cover the beatles without sounding like vh1 behind the music?" Very well done indeed. I'm actually impressed
That's another reason why I love The Beatles. Love.....Yes, theres songs like Maxwell's silver hammer, Helter skelter, Piggies, Happiness is a warm gun that are definitely not about love. But overall, Love is what made them an amazing band.
What the hell? I found this as a recommended video and it didn't show up in my sub feed. Thought I missed one of your early videos... anyway, this was absolutely amazing! I love the way you show the lyrics, hope you do more of that!
If I Fell is still my favorite Beatles love song. It's innocent but still mature enough to know what love actually is. The a capella style just makes it go to a whole new level. It's bittersweet
Ever hear of the Gershwins who wrote America's greatest opera "Porgy and Bess". It has been performed at the Met and La Scala. Let's see Lennon/McCartney top that.
@@ksasidhar2980 During the last year of his life, and while suffering from the brain tumor that would kill him, George Gershwin wrote 'They Can't Take That Away From Me', 'Let's Call The Whole Thing Off', 'They All Laughed", 'A Foggy Day', 'Nice Work If You Can Get It', 'Love Walked In', and 'Our Love Is Here To Stay'. You probably don't know this but all these songs, composed in just one year, are standards of the popular song repertoire. During their entire time together The Beatles only wrote "Yesterday" and perhaps 'Something' (not Lennon/McCartney) that can be considered 'standards'. Most of The Beatles' oeuvre is just rock and roll junk. Gershwin wrote over 900 songs in his short life, dozens of which have been recorded thousands of times by the greatest interpreters of popular song like Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Tony Bennett, Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, et.al.' Summertime' has been recorded over 80 thousand times and is the most covered song of all time ('Yesterday' being the most covered song of the rock era). Besides writing songs and America's greatest opera, he wrote concert works like 'Rhapsody in Blue', 'An American in Paris', Concerto in F', and others. So you can see that Lennon/McCartney hardly measure up.
@@donaldsaigh8785 All I can only say to you should appreciate music for what it is, you and I just have a difference of opinion. I have a 100 Lennon McCartney songs that are still lyrically competent 50 years later, Gershwin songs are absurdly happy for the modern era. They can neither relate to this generation nor to the previous one. I’m general, opera and jazz have matured into something that needs a higher understanding of music theory and other concepts, modern jazz(without proper training for the ear) is confusing for most people, imagine playing “giant steps” by Coltrane and thinking it’s a masterpiece, without understanding the general concept of music theory, it’s hard to comprehend for most people why it is considered legendary.Comparing Gershwin to Lennon McCartney is just simply stupid, because Gershwin is not considered a pop musician by today’s standards, hell even after 50 years after his death, hard rock, disco and electronic music was in full swing, which was neither his taste, and nor considered as a must have for popular music. But the beatles? They stood the test of time, they’re simple, elegant and are considered a rite of passage by 99% of popular musicians 50 years later, that is only possible because most people still resonate with their songs, even with zero understanding of music theory.
@@donaldsaigh8785 and as per the talent that beatles had, they wrote chord progressions for hundreds of songs that sound almost like they’re written down before and then performed. That’s because they had a rough concept for music theory and George Martin, the producer refined it by correcting them. The fact that all 4 of them are not formally educated in music but still end up making one of the most influential songs like all my loving, here comes the sun, dear prudence etc. which have complex strumming patterns and picking techniques that takes really hard to master even for seasoned musicians. I believe that the beatles changed the music scene by really showing that you don’t really need education for talent to shine through, and only having a short lived 8 years In their career, imagine throwing everything out of the window and starting fresh, making something new and unparalleled. Gershwin was not considered ahead of his time, he wrote what other people considered music, but the beatles? They made music that sounds good for THEM, and presented to the public. You are wrong sir, and i staunchly believe that you’ve haven’t listened to sgt peppers or abbey road, which made huge leaps in music, regardless of the generation.

Here There And Everywhere Is My Favourite Love Song
same
what can be said of the beatles? they're simply the best
The editing in this video is masterfull, one of your best ones
Didn't anyone else have a problem with the audio after 4:33 ?
Yeah and during the "the end" bit
I got to this comment like right as it happened
Yesterday is my favorite love song of all time.
7:00 the word was the first time they talked about love in a more broad way
Got immediate goosebumps when I heard "Yesterday"
magnific, i just missed all my loving and here, there and everywhere.
I think its important to remember that all these transformations in the Beatles sound and songwriting styles happened over just seven years. John, Paul, Ringo and the two Georges - the perfect storm.
You skipped "Here, There, and Everywhere" but I still loved this video :)
"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Not sure why but that line is absolutely beautiful to me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that The End was the last song all four members recorded to together.
i’m amazed you didn’t mention I Will from the white album!! it’s one of my favorites!
And don't forget "In My Life," covered by many a famous singer. (In fact, I'm wondering whether it might be their most covered song?)
Fred
ffggddss The Beatles’ most covered song is “Yesterday”.
@@cremetangerine82 Yes, that does ring a bell for me. Thank you!
Fred
This is just a great video. Perfectly encapsulates part of why I love the Beatles so much.
Great video. Absolutely loved it as The Beatles are my favorite band of all time. I really wished you would have touched on "Here, There and Everywhere" as I think it's the best Beatles love song. Also would have like to see your input on "Real Love". Either way, loved the video and hope to see more Beatles content
I always really liked the way on the end of 'all you need is love' Paul sings 'she loves you' over it.
This video strangely just gave me the most powerful inspiration.
Time to right a goddamn love song.
Okay thanks for posting this. I really needed this today lol. I love the Beatles
i will is a beautiful love song in the white album. criminally short and underrated. anyway, i love this video ❤️ peace and love, my friends.
Man, I swear your graphics get better with each video! Keep up the magnificent work!
Grateful Alive so I’ve heard!! I’m up through Beatles for Sale and have been very impressed so far, and I’m not even to the “classic” stuff yet!
The way their music evolved throughout their careers to me is why they are the greatest band of all time.
"Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs, and what's wrong with that?"
Honestly the segues to the ads are so smooth I’m happy to watch them
Some people want to fill the world full of silly little love songs
What's wrong with that?
@@mariocastillo8334 ayyyyyyy
@Itapi Coolest aye
@Itapi Coolest As is Mario's comment
@Itapi Coolest So is his comment. "What's wrong with that?" immediately follows the line that rictualfury quoted.
They simply take my breath away, they are just perfection with their diverse music and lyrics. I guarantee, everyone can find at least one song they like from The Beatles.
Great video but you missed out on a couple of things:
I think that you could have brought up "Norwegian Wood" (however over-mentioned it is) because it's the first Beatles' love song that really had to be "deciphered" because of its Bob Dylan-esque lyrics.
It’s simple but I like “Oh! Darling!” It’s so heavy like it’s so nice and happy in the beginning then it starts sounding like he’s obsessive
14th of february its a nice day to listen to the beatles
ANY day is a nice day to listen to The Beatles. Anytime At All.
Not if you're alone.
Tash they got a lot of songs for lonely people lol
And yesterday
Once again, another fantastic video. I especially love the editing on this one. Keep up the good work my guy.
it's love you to
not love to you
but other than that, great video!
Here, there, and everywhere is one of the most beautiful songs ever
You forgot their hit from the Anthology called Real Love.
Another great video, I really dig the animated lyrics. It looks really good
My favorite Beatles love songs in order:
Real Love
Something
Love You To
Here There And Everywhere
Oh Darling
I Will
If I Fell
Gotta bump that political compass upwards!
I've always loved something, but never really thought much about it, but it really does explain love. He keeps repeating that there's "something" about his lover, something that couldn't be put to words, only music. Love is such an abstract idea that the only way to truly express it is through music.
Does anyone else audio drops out around 4:34 to 4:45
By far one of your best video essays. Very well done because i guarantee the thought" how can i cover the beatles without sounding like vh1 behind the music?"
Very well done indeed. I'm actually impressed
Happy Valentine's Day!
Poly, great...experience! Good sponsor/ ad placement, better "visuals", best interpretation. You've got a sound mind
That's another reason why I love The Beatles. Love.....Yes, theres songs like Maxwell's silver hammer, Helter skelter, Piggies, Happiness is a warm gun that are definitely not about love. But overall, Love is what made them an amazing band.
Excellently edited I can’t get enough of The Beatles. +1 subscriber
Nice video, though audio drops out in two places-- around 4:32 and 9:46
Joe Colletti I was looking for this. I thought I was going crazy cuz no one else pointed it out
@@Okkkkkkk-ol5kz , you might still be going crazy-- I might too-- but this is real. ;)
Well I'll join you in the crazy bin cause it started dropping out for me as well. Do we get cookies in the crazy room?
What the hell? I found this as a recommended video and it didn't show up in my sub feed. Thought I missed one of your early videos... anyway, this was absolutely amazing! I love the way you show the lyrics, hope you do more of that!
Under 300 squad! Such a great way to celebrate Valentine's with this video
If I Fell is still my favorite Beatles love song. It's innocent but still mature enough to know what love actually is. The a capella style just makes it go to a whole new level. It's bittersweet
Lennon-McCartney, the greatest songwriting duo of all time. Bar none.
Ever hear of the Gershwins who wrote America's greatest opera "Porgy and Bess". It has been performed at the Met and La Scala. Let's see Lennon/McCartney top that.
@@donaldsaigh8785 bruh, quantity is also a factor
Wonderful video! The Beatles music is timeless because Love is timeless.
Love how you skipped the let it be album. Doesn’t matter though great video!!
For You Blue
This is my new favorite video from you. Everything about this is awesome. Your videos are always polished, but this is a new level. Great job!
