    Is this okay?
Shakespeare reflects on the importance of Desdemona to Othello at this stage in the play, he shows that Iago’s words have yet to falter Othello’s love for Desdemona as he claims that if the time came when he did ‘love (her) not’ then ‘chaos’ would ‘come again’. Meaning that if he were to no longer love Desdemona then his life would lose all sense of order and reason, therefore showing her high value and meaning to Othello at this time. The affirmative ways of this phrase also produce a glimpse of hope that Iago’s false accusations will have no impact on their relationship, which heightens the eventual tragedy of Desdemona’s death. Furthermore, Shakespeare has also employed dramatic irony with this line as the audience are aware of Iago;s plans of deceit which will turn Othello’s life to this ‘chaos’ by causing the very thing he speaks against.
