TY. Got the Mack impact driver my Dad gave me to work. Just followed you on this video. Disassembled- clean- oiled/ reassembled and worked better than when I received it- a decade ago!
I Watched the Video, then went out to the workshop and tore apart my Lowe's Cobalt 1/2" Impact wrench. Followed the instructions, Minus the cleaning which you did not touch on how-to. Improvised and used Acetone to clean and oiled liberally, and off I went. Works good Now, It was absolutely useless to me before hand. Thanks
I have the same gun purchased in 1992. I worked at two shops so needed a second gun. It’s not very powerful compared to MAC/IR guns (400 ft/lb vs 625 ft/lb from my MAC AW434) but usually got the job done. I’d borrow a stronger gun when I needed it. I just used it for the first time in over 25 years and it worked fine. I’m surprised your boot is still soft, they tend to harden over time. Mine hardened up so bad I had to cut it off with a knife. Great video, thanks.
Thank you so much again RJ! You saved my Craftsman 875.199870! Was undoing some really tight lug nuts and the thing stopped hammering. Thanks to your video I got it apart and it works now!
Very interesting. I think I'll just leave mine alone. You make it look easy, but I never did well on mechanical aptitude tests. In fact, I never did well on any mental aptitude tests. It's why I went into the Marines. Stupid, winding up in a line company in Vietnam. But I survived and can afford an air impact wrench. And if mine fails, I can just go get another! Thanks for your great video!
I used ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4ynqaujg7rZKFapA8s29kTpRszJGa3-K this for the first time today to replace the front wheel bearing on my rwd 98 dodge dakota. This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell
Thanks for the vid. I had to spray mine down with Blaster PB to get it freed up but eventually got everything out, cleaned, oiled, and reinstalled. Works like new!
Not seen inside one of them before, thanks for that. As an aside I used an electric impact wrench to get the stuck fixed cup out of a 45 year old Raleigh Moulton Mk3 frame (with a suitable large bolt affair). The Raleigh cup is pretty hard to remove even if you have the correct too - and an impact wrench makes it even easier than using a long braker bar!
The turbine part is similar in most wrenches I think. The hammer part in this wrench is a little different. I have used an impact wrench for removing fixed cups too.
I looked in the manual for my CP734 air gun which says to use 22ml of SAE 30 in the hammer/clutch cavity. I see that you dumped out the excess after filling. Did you find this procedure in a service manual? Mine says nothing about this. Just want to be sure of the proper procedure. Thanks!
Hi, you took apart everything except where the air goes In - Can you please show how to rebuilt that part and how it works. Pls. I got one 3/4 where when you hook up the air it runs free without pressing trigger-reverse and forward- thanks-
Cool I have an old hurricane impact that looks very much like yours it is stuck on go and forward and reverse is stuck hopefully a good cleaning is the fix and thanks to you I now know how. Thanks
I have a craftsman 875.199870 and its over 20 years old and as long as you oil it will last a long time. I am a disabled vet spent 7 years in the NAVY on submarines wanted to do 30 but alas a stupid chain broke and it hit me crushing my spine So I am in a wheelchair, I do not use it every day but if I was like I used them before the NAVY I was a mechanic with my dad who was one over 50 years. he used almost all craftsman. To bad now their tools are made in China. But I like craftsman impact tools as even my 20-year-old one I can get parts for it.
After following your instructions I got the wrench back in shape. However, it's losing a lot of air at the trigger, could you share advice on how to replace the trigger gaskets?
Humberto Gómez in ur wrench at the bottom is a little ball that is helping the air get through and a little spring so watch out when u take it apart. Check if the rubber ring underneath the spring and ball is okay. Then check if ur iron pin behind ur trigger isn’t broken. Also what I had is that the ball was stuck in the spring while it should sit in the wrench seperately.
I took a Campbell/Hausfeld a apart and reassembled. Still not working, but it is pretty basic and very similar to this one. I might have something backwards, so not giving up.
I have a brand new GMC air impact gun that has never worked since I bought it. I bought a kit that had a chisel impact gun and 1/2 inch wrench and drill all as a kit. I purchaced it because i needed the chisel for some work.. I did not worry to much about the impact gun too much as being brand new I though that there can only be a small problem that i could fix at some stage. Rather than mess about sending the whole lot back which are the directions i could fix this myself, but thought before doing so i would have a look on the internet to see if any one had ever come across one of these that did not rotate from start, and why it did not start.
Whe I assemble mine impact wrench, i lost the little 4 mm bolt that is going in the oil hole and now the impact wrench work, but is not strong, its really weak, any idea? Thanks in advance.
My Milwukee Pnuematic is identical. Mine is missing something under the trigger. I was hoping you would get to that. There is just an open hole under the trigger. Any ideas?
I do not use sae 30 oil. I use exclusively air oil which happens to be a pure mineral oil that you can substitute Sewing machine oil or Baby oil with. Other than that Your video was very informative.
Nice, those old made in Japan, Craftsman air tools starting with the 875 prefix are built by Florida Pneumatic, a very good company. Florida Pneumatic, along with Chicago Pneumatic built some very nice high quality air tools. How much torque does this wrench put out, 150ft lbs?
I know this 8 years old but I’m trying to figure out what air fitting to put on my air gun I got a 1/4 and it is to small I don’t know witch one to get
Dominik K. Impact sockets are designed to be used in impact wrenches. The are heavier. Regular sockets are lighter and hardened, and can potentially SHATTER explosively when used in an impact wrench.
+Stan Skaggs I believe with was mentioned on the manual for this, or at least a similar model. I remember I spent some time researching the correct oil when I did it.
ok.. Makes sense I guess.. I just saw a couple of other videos which said the same thing too. Just trying to figure out they they are wanting the motor oil...
I bought the same tool and its missing items securing or having to do with the metal tube that is for forward and reverse and thats what am trying see what they are and where to get them? theres a small spring and I see a washer securing the bar to push reverse and forward. mastergrip sears craftman identical
once again i need to see the parts that hold the tube for forward and reverse mechanism once removed there's a small spring inside the front of the tunnel where the bar goes or slides forward and reverse whats missing in my gun i see a securing washer and what also missing like a ball bearing inside where the spring is inside a chamber
Hallo friend my 1/2 air gun did not get power.slow running.this is 2 years old gun. How re set and why this slow running.i did service but no improvement
the older craftsman that are made in japan are a thousand times better impacts then the ones made it taiwan. Just alot better quality in the parts and quality control.
Nobody cares, but technically you want the ND30 flavor of SAE30 rather than the HD30 kind. I think the detergent in HD attacks the o-rings and seals or something.
I pulled the part out of the valve body where the air feeds into my BLUE POINT AT500A and now the trigger no longer works. I am wondering how to fix that fuck up..

I just cleaned the parts. Degreaser. Or maybe hot water and dish soap. Maybe mineral spirits. I can't remember.

I bet filming the disassembly came in handy when reassembling. I like to take things apart, but never videoed the process. Might have saved me hours.

I've wondered what was inside one of those. I probably need to clean and oil mine. Thank you.
Did you need a pack that thing with assembly Grease
I have this exact gun and the manual does indeed state to use SAE30 wt oil for all of the people bawling about that.

Are you suppose to run 30 wt oil in the gun at oil point then drain it or use airfoil oil
Whe I assemble mine impact wrench, i lost the little 4 mm bolt that is going in the oil hole and now the impact wrench work, but is not strong, its really weak, any idea? Thanks in advance.
I'm amazed you put the anvil in the casing bone dry!
Aye I’m bugged
So, what about the parts in the handle? Those get stuck due to air contamination.
My Milwukee Pnuematic is identical. Mine is missing something under the trigger. I was hoping you would get to that. There is just an open hole under the trigger. Any ideas?

I use Marvel air tool oil.
no oil into bearings? no oil at hammer shaft?
there is this, there is this part, there is that :D

Question is does it actually remove anything.?
I know this 8 years old but I’m trying to figure out what air fitting to put on my air gun I got a 1/4 and it is to small I don’t know witch one to get
I bet this used Craftsman performs better than a brand new one you'd get at Sears nowadays.
+violian5 I want to get a corded electric one.
Great video so i have learn it how it works Thanks very much!!
Thanks man, totally save my tool.
I like yours video about tools: ratchet etc. :D Can we use a ratchet wrench sockets or only impact socket?
Dominik K. Impact sockets are designed to be used in impact wrenches. The are heavier. Regular sockets are lighter and hardened, and can potentially SHATTER explosively when used in an impact wrench.
How often do you remove the allen key grub screw to oil the gun? I know you oil the air intake daily thanks Ian
+sandydogy I don't generally as I don't use it very often.
RJ The Bike Guy thanks
I fill the oil from the bottom of the handle where you connect the air hose coupler.
That only oils the air piston. It doesn't lube the hammer mechanism which requires more oil.
Thanks
Why did you choose 30 motor oil exactly? Did this come from a source or what was your reasoning for this choice?
+Stan Skaggs I believe with was mentioned on the manual for this, or at least a similar model. I remember I spent some time researching the correct oil when I did it.
ok.. Makes sense I guess.. I just saw a couple of other videos which said the same thing too. Just trying to figure out they they are wanting the motor oil...
did i miss the part where you took the inside of the trigger apart? there's a part in there that i need
Blue point has the exact same impact just rebranded I bet it's made in the same factory. The name of the blue point impact is at500
i have one now i can overhaul it cause of the video

Might be easier just to go buy another impact wrench, then trying to find the parts.

Any plans on rebuild video for a cp797?
Nah, I probably won't do any videos on these. My channel is focused on bikes now.
Put in a bigger o ring on spring for the trigger makes it alot stronger
Brian Nicholas where can I find a spring like that
Need to reassemble the trigger
What purpose exactly does the boot serve?
Just helps protect the tools from being banged around.
Someone knows how to assembly disassembly the CP 722 .?thank s
whats the required gallon size for it
Hallo friend my 1/2 air gun did not get power.slow running.this is 2 years old gun. How re set and why this slow running.i did service but no improvement
Dunno. Sorry.
I had same result. Tried taking air intake apart. Now it doesn't work at all.
Beli rotor blade dimana
Tendrás por casualidad el diagrama de las piezas del gatillo.
Sorry, no I don't.
What about the trigger mechanism
That's what I was waiting for.
Nice video
Very helpfull, tks
the older craftsman that are made in japan are a thousand times better impacts then the ones made it taiwan. Just alot better quality in the parts and quality control.

Where are the springs behind the vanes?
There are no springs in vein operation. They operate by centrifugal force.
¿disculpa mi impacto se queda tirando aire que cree usted que pueda ser el problema?
Empaques
my air impact wrench craftsman does not turn the mechanism all the air is coming out of the vent you will have?
Japanese made, so probably good for a few years yet.
I have this exact impact wrench- anyone got a scan of the instructions they can share?
How to repair?impact no power
Nobody cares, but technically you want the ND30 flavor of SAE30 rather than the HD30 kind. I think the detergent in HD attacks the o-rings and seals or something.
Yup, ND(non detergent)30. I think the detergent causes foaming? That's what I use in my air compressor and power washer pump.
I pulled the part out of the valve body where the air feeds into my BLUE POINT AT500A and now the trigger no longer works. I am wondering how to fix that fuck up..
I did the same thing when this reassembly still didn't fix my power issue. Did you ever fix it?
Good but could be better if the bike guy used the correct name of the parts
Could you help me removing and instal de reverse Valve thnks nice video
Sorry. I don't own this wrench any more.
@@RJTheBikeGuy tnks
@@RJTheBikeGuy Why'd you get rid of it?
@@jandzluvly Because I got better impact wrenches. Currently have a 20v Dewalt that would crush this on.
That has the exact same insides as a Florida Pneumatic. And I mean part for part.
8:16 Actually is SAE 10.

You forgot the handle mate

wrong fitment the assembling time is so much.
