    I'm 400 hours into this game and this video changed my game play. I had no idea that i could free explore without the lines. There's so much to this game that isn't immediately obvious.
    Thank you for the video. This is my second time watching it, idk if I commented the first time, but I've been finding all the types of systems I wanted to find (ship hunting pirate dissonant systems) and I love it!!! Tysm! This far this is the single video that has helped me the most about nms

    Interesting video.
    Long-time player here (ps4). A few years back, I decided to journey through Euclid, but to its outer edge, not the core. Figured out a solid way to navigate - I'd select the Route To Core option, and just kept hypering in a direction as opposite to that as possible. Sometimes I'd use my Freighter, other times, I'd switch to 'Space Hobo' mode and use a small ship. Depending on mood, I might stop and explore at a stop, or just keep moving. I was in no big hurry - it took me a month or so in Real Time to get to the Edge.
    What I found at the Edge was basically an " invisible wall" that you cannot hyper past. Stars are visible past this edge on the Map, but they cannot be ID'd or otherwise interacted with. You can make your way between any system that is on or close to this wall, you just can't get any further from the Core. Explored, built a Base (step pyramid styling), then went home.
    One thing I noted, at least in the small stretch that I checked out, was that there seemed to be a high proportion of Glitch worlds in these "edge" systems, typically two per system. No other great insights or discoveries, but it was an interesting trip and I'm glad I did it - maybe I'll try a similar thing with a different Galaxy some time.
    I have since heard, from a source considered reliable, that one Player is CIRCUMNAVIGATING Euclid - travelling right around the Galaxy at its outer edge.

      That's really interesting! Never thought of doing that, looking at the edge of the galaxy. Always so focused on getting to the core! Interesting that there are more glitch worlds at the edge, kind of like that, makes the galaxy seem more...real.
      I wonder how ling it would take to circumnavigate the edge of the galaxy!!

    Oh, lastly, and not directly related to the map but i found a weird bug related to frigate missions. My freighter is in Eissentam and I had frigates doing missions there. I was in Euclid dealing with my settlement, decided to fly off the planet when I got call to help one frigate deal with pirates. I opened up the map and saw the frigate one system over in Euclid, not Eissentam. In the fleet manager it showed all my ships were back and mission complete. A few hours later I saw that there was a new mission debrief icon. I guess it took sometime to get home.

      That is strange! Never picked up on that one. Definitely one of the more obscure bugs.

      @ardaghion 3 дня назад +1

      @@CasterPenn Yeah, first time I've seen it. I guess the game is programmed to have the frigate near you and doesn't account for being in a different galaxy. If I went back to Eissentam via the settlement teleporter the frigate might have been spawned in not far from my freighter.

    I'm thinking the system names in green you showed have been renamed by players. The last one in the video had "3hahahas" appended to the name; while I was doing the Aquarius expedition a bit ago, I kept running across worlds where half the minerals and fauna had the "3hahahas" appended to the obviously procedural name of each. Seemed to be a certain player's thing to add that to what they discovered.

      Oh okay, that's a good shout. 3hahahas all.ovwr the place!

    Changing regions on the galaxy map will change the guild envoy as well

    The numbers due correspond to the sun heat. You are more likely to find paradise or earth like worlds in 2-3 ranges are sun is labeled a 2 system in real life.

    I also noticed that even though my freighter can jump vast distances, the map seems limited to about 18 jumps. At least when I've selected galactic core.

    • @CasterPenn
      @CasterPenn  3 дня назад

      That's interesting. I might have to try it with the freighter, see what happens.

      @@CasterPenn I'll have to try in free look mode too. I've hacked my save, the freighter shows I can jump 37,000 ly and shows inf for fuel efficiency. So maybe I can scroll through the map and see how far I can really jump.

    I wonder if the F in the description for high frequency is related to planets labeled as "high radio frequency planet" ... I have researched if that's connected or what high radio frequency means either lol

    The systems with no data or species can sometimes be empty or abandoned. I think you need to investigate the system to see if there is an abandoned station. Sometimes you can get lore if you have the Atlas pass and there's an interface.
    One interesting thing is, on occasion an NPC pilot will land in an abandoned station.

    • @CasterPenn
      @CasterPenn  3 дня назад

      Yeah true. I've never had an NPC land on an abandoned station personally, but would be good for trade if they did.

    • @ardaghion
      @ardaghion 3 дня назад

      @@CasterPenn The abandoned stations have a galactic trade terminal and you can sell or buy but the info shows things like error or kzzzt. Some trading items still show a profit if you bought cheap elsewhere. I have never tried trading with an NPC in those systems so I don't know what happens.

      @CasterPenn I'm not into multiple players or VR. Plus, my stepson will be doing most of the building. Lol. I was told I am out of touch with the new technology. Now I feel old.. 😌
