    Hey guys, nice review :)
As you may know, this is actually the third version of the game. The first one being Mad Arena and published in 2008 (in France), thus pre-dating KOT. The second version was renamed Utlimate Warriorz and self-published by the authors in 2011.
Sorry for these boring information ^^'
    Keep up the good work.

Great video! I blind-bought this at DTC IV after Tom recommended it in the Q&A and the Awards show.
I'm so glad I did too! This is a blast of a game and is SO MUCH fun with 7 or 8. Definitely happy this is in my collection. A very unique and enjoyable experience!

Looks like a decent, simple game. I'll end up getting it eventually.

This game is nothing like King Of Tokyo in terms of actually playing the game.
The fact that it has dice, or a similar art style or that it is a simple game does not mean it is anything like King of Tokyo.
    Totally different games.
That said, I agree with Tom and Sam's rating. Fun little game, plays super fast, but feels like you're making more important choices (even if there is a lot of randomness).

KAM1138a Yeah. Nothing. Monsters? Check. Standies? Check. Art style? Check Smashing up each other? Check. Dice chucking? Check. Simple? Check. Country of origin? Check. Year of the first release? Check.
The totally different game is T'zolkin. Every game is different, but it has many similarities with King of Tokyo. Maybe you didn's realize, but don't be that guy if someone realized it.

winnie666 Well in that case I'm pretty sure Thunderstone is just like Mage knight. Fantasy? Check. Towns? Check. Dungeons? Check. Deck Building? Check. Producers in the same country? Check. Difference between Light and Dark? Check. Dragons? Check. Orcs? Check.

If you read what I posted, I stated what I did in relation to "actually playing the game." Not only that, but I noted a few of the cosmetic or incidental similarities as well.
What I 'realize' is that none of these things makes the games similar in how they play, which is exactly what I stated.
To apply your reasoning, I could say that T'zolkin IS similar to UW, because they both have blue in the art, both allow for 4 players, and both have some sort of scoring system. Of course, that sort of comparison is irrelevant as well--in terms of game play.
I'll reiterate, for the benefit of anyone interested in knowing about Ultimate Warriors--it plays nothing like King of Tokyo, and if you go in expecting that it does, you will be surprised (and maybe disappointed).
However, this isn't a bad thing. I think Ultimate Warriorz is a fun little game.

seems like a game that will get better with smaller expansions that introduce new characters, as well as new mechanics
like traps that make you lose lp if youre on that space, that activate on each round.
or just survivors gaining a new card each round from a selection, guy with least points gets to choose first.
or even the ability for defeated survivors to use ranged attack cards (they dont get points for it, but its good way to get revenge)
just something that adds a little more depth to the board and cards (which boss monster in my opinion, sadly failed on)
    other then that great game.

I find that king of tokyo is easier on non gamers...i think sam said something about king of new york as being a gamers version of king of tokyo..

I don't honestly think KoNY is any harder to learn for non-gamers. Certainly I've played it with non-gamers before and things went rather smoothly on all occasions.

y2j420 In my opinion King of New York sort of drags out what was a quick game and removes a lot of the direct confrontation. This game seems to swing in the other direction.

Hang on! All you do is move and attack! Not nearly as versatile as King of Tokio.

godofzombi what, you have the random power cards, sure, but no practical movement to speak of (other than trading places with the monster in Tokyo). Ranged versus melee? Not in KoT. Victory points just for rolling sets of dice? Not so thematic. Apart from the power cards, this looks more "gamery".

True, but in KOT you can choose to go for either damage/ stars/ or pimp out your monster with power cards. In UW it's just wail on somebody. It seems like you have a bit less paths towards victory.
Also I'm not a fan the gameboard being part of the box. (Just a personal pet peeve.)
