It's so weird how some studio series, regardless of class, are just absolute bangers and others are just replete with missed opportunities. Some of that backpack could absolutely have become bigger wings. And arm blades aren't difficult. Better than mainline, i just can't help but feel like we'll get a better one eventually, and studio series used to pride itself on being the best versions outside of masterpiece. Just feels like they lost that goal.
Agreed. Studio Series is such a gamble. I don’t really collect legacy but from what I’ve seen that line is very consistent in making at least 5/10 figures. Studios Series can have 10/10s and 1/10s in the same wave and same class it’s ridiculous.
Most of the ROTB figures are based on concept art and it's likely the wings were a last-minute decision. Chances are Nightbird was never originally meant to fly in the movie and as it shows in the concept art she doesn’t have any wings on her back, so when the film was delayed they probably added the wings and so the toy ended up suffering by a last-minute addition. This is also evident with the main line version since that toy doesn’t have any wings and is based on concept art.
@@Scourge2679 regardless there's room for 2 more waves of yolopark kits. If they plan to make those minicons Scourge had as double pack to make ot 3 in the last wave as well.

Depends on which figure. Bee is easily the best studio series Bee we got and Prime looks super accurate in his robot mode. But Nightbird? Eh... mainly a retool of the mainline version. The studio series version is better but you would expect more from the budget they have for the toyline. Especially if you again look at the other figures.
finally, the Studio Series Terrorcons are complete! my only complaint is the lack of eyes and if they put eyes underneath the helmet but im glad there are eyes on the figure, great review and here's hoping DNA Design makes an upgrade kit for this figure!
Great review! Just discovered, the sword of the mainline will fit onto the side-peg of the studio's side-skirt. The sword will have to point down, blade either facing to front or back, utilizing the blade-slot closest to the sword handle to slot onto the lower peg on the side-skirt. It is a great storage on the studio than the mainline. Other than the mainline fixing the blade in hand-slot, there is no side-storage for the mainline. By the way, I did an 80% re-paint of the mainline with gunmetals, gloss blacks and violets, as the enormous amount of plastic brown was an eye sore. Again, great coverage of both the studio and mainline Nightbirds!

(he was at the figures section and I was in the hot wheels section since I don't collect figures anymore) and I went to the figures section and he showed me they had 3 of her. He got me one for just helping him out from washing dishes. I just hope there will be a masterpiece of her soon.
I may get two of this figure just to have both swords, and it's great that both can store in vehicle mode. Otherwise, great figure except for the Wings (yes, I don't mind the backpack).
It so good to have Nightbird in studio series and it it's way better than the mainline can't wait to get this figure she's one of my favorite villains now all we need is Noah Diaz, Scorpinok, and Wheeljack/Pablo but the weakest one deluxe figure is mirage because of the legs
Really my only gripe is the backpack, and it seems people agree. I have no doubt they could find a way to split the roof into wings, it feels mostly cheap tacking on pathetic wings. I wonder what Third Party will do for her, because she seems to be the most shafted Terrorcon.
Maybe I’m a psycho but I display and especially store most of my transformers in vehicle mode. Usually the cleaner of the two, and easier to fit multiple into a small space. Plus I just love seeing a bunch of cool vehicles lined up next to each other. Currently completing the first movie roster of figures and they all look so good together (Ratchet is a little big though)
She looks way better then I thought she would, they just should have made the wings out of the backpack I hope she get’s an upgrade kit that fixes this Great review again
Fantastic review as always! I sometimes dabble in digital modeling, and using stills of this video, i could definitely find a way to change up the backpack to make larger wings instead of just plain kibble! I may give that a try whenever i get my hands on this figure.
Definitely getting this figure over the mainline. Imo not a fan of the colors on the mainline but the SS ver has a darker color that’s close to the movie. However one thing i like about the mainline is how the sword becomes the spoiler wings

They don't look similar at all, it's literally just that the front of the car modes end up as both their chests and two of the wheels end up in/on the feet.
im hoping DNA designs makes an upgrade kit for her and battletrap, mainly new arms for nightbird that have blades, another katana for nightbird, bigger wings for nightird, a new wreaking ball for battletrap, an arm addapter for said new mace for battletrap, and lastly, battletrap's mace! at least, that what i want also maybe a more acurate chest for battletrap
There isn't a problem with nightbirds wings because do you really expect everyone to be displaying her on a stand with her wings being big and treating her like she's flying no because it's a toy where wings aren't worth aren't worth complaining about
It’s always so sick to see licensed cars in transformers. As a car guy that is a big reason why I love Transformers so much. Glad to see they got Nissan to allow their GTR to be in the toy!
Not the worst SS or Transformer for that matter, but also not the best. Now the R33 mode is where it's at for me! Man I'm hyped for that! Pre-Ordered her as soon as she went live.

I've noticed that you, or any other prominate Tformers reviewers have not did a review on the M-06 Ironhide. Is there a reason for this? I have that WJ recreation by some unknown company. And it's a spectacular piece. The greatest version of Ironhide ever and have yet to see a review of it from, Ben, emgo, you, etc. All I've seen were Chinese, japanese and spanish collectors. And only 2 english speaking collectors who are sub-par.
I finally got one, and I like it. I want to get a second for the second sword and just either sell the second figure or find someone who is good at custom painting and have it painted like the Skyline in Fast and Furior movies: Silver with blue.
Buy the DK-49 upgrade kit, sure you only get larger wings and 2 swords for Nightbird, but it helps. And if you have Scourge and Battletrap you get goodies for them too. All for about $33. Not terrible if you don't want to buy a whole new figure.
Been following ur video for a while but never left any comments. Today I would like to say Thx and I really appreciate for the comparison between main line version and SS version, and I was about but this new version and now Im not going but stick with my main line version of Nightbird. Thx again.

Nightbird was a character I was really interested in since I heard she was to make an appearance in the movie. As I remember her G1 self was actually a human made replica of the Transformers. Her appearance in ROTB (while short lived) is fantastic and this figure, despite it's detrimental size of kibble, really shows the likeness of her design. You know I hope we get Movie Masterpieces of the Terricons or any Transformers from ROTB. We have Bumblebee movie Optimus Prime and Bumblebee so why not?
Lol and OMG. Cool weapons and colors. Cool music and I'm so surprised with this figure. I love ROTB .Prime vs prime always makes me my day. Prime vs prime is so cool, honest,and helpful. I love it. Nightbird in ROTB was so cool and awesome. I love her voice in the movie. I wonder who voices Nightbird in ROTB? Cool intro. I love the intros. I'm definitely going to pick up this figure. Cool figure. I'm so happy with this figure. Yes the terrocon trio is complete.
While the figure is great (in both modes), I really appreciate the look of the vehicle mode. But to complete the terrorcon, this is definitely on my bucket list.
Honestly I don't even care how the backpack looks because I'll never display my figures facing the wall 😂 I'm just glad that the panels on her legs, the inside one is shorter, because to me, that leg conversion looked so much less cumbersome than the mainline and that pleases me so much more

Mirage and nightbird are not good figures compared to previous ones. They focused too much on the vehicle mode and because of that the robots are not accurate. Like seriously they could have made bigger wings that become the side of the car
NightBird: 1997 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (BCNR33) with a custom chassis wing and rear bumper delete, no idea what bodykit is this but it's still a great car

Looks good despite the fiddley transformation/minimal articulation. As someone who hasn't gotten any of the mainline figures the huge draw with Nightbird, and Mirage are the film accuracy/painted detail in both vehicle/robot mode. Wonder if Nightbird would work for a Legacy updated Armada Sideswipe as they are essentially the same car.
Armada Sideswipe was an R32 sedan while Nightbird is an R33 GT-R. I would still love if they reused this mold for him though if he's retooled into an R32
Would've been cool if hasbro did a lil diff partsforming gimmick where you can replace the short wings for the long ones made from the windshields if they were tinted black
Also, scourge is getting an upgrade kit to it comes with that face without the mask on towards the final battle so if you want an accurate scourge and I would buy that upgrade kit
I can't wait 'til we get Studio Series Pablo next February!! I think Hasbro and Takara could've EASILY made the windows for Nightbird's car mode her wings, because that would've also made the wings bigger and maybe then the windows could've been tinted.

I think if you couldn’t get or find the mainline version(like me) I think this is a great alternative for it and maybe a betting option than the main line. That’s how I’ve always seen package refreshes and figures that feel the same EX: kingdom sideswipe and his many Recolors and kingdom/earth rise arcee 17:52
def an improvement over the mainline and the car mode is sick. already have the mainline and get this one as well and call them the nightbird sisters. they could have made her wings double the size though if they made them fold out, as there would have been enough room for in car mode.

I want to preorder, as I pre-ordered rotb ss optimus prime previously, but I ended up finding him in store and canceling my preorder, but I mean it wouldn't hurt as I've done it before
That vehicle mode is beautiful and the colors help it come together even better than the Porsche, but the robot mode is just thick in all the wrong places. I think the big problem is that the car parts were smaller compared to the rest of her body in the movie, so it just looks off.
I still not have this figure yet, albeit I would like to purchase her in the future. To be honest, I don't mind much of her design. But why Hasbro,why?! If they include double swords, for me at least, she would be perfect. 😅

totally agree, these tiny wings are pointless. The only reason to buy this is the license of Nissan Skyline. SS series should have more details

The upgrade kit gives you articulated feet, so that will fix the problem in the back of Optimus it gives you a clean truck bed

Buy the DK-49 upgrade kit, sure you only get larger wings and 2 swords for Nightbird, but it helps. And if you have Scourge and Battletrap you get goodies for them too. All for about $33. Not terrible if you don't want to buy a whole new figure.
Been following ur video for a while but never left any comments. Today I would like to say Thx and I really appreciate for the comparison between main line version and SS version, and I was about but this new version and now Im not going but stick with my main line version of Nightbird. Thx again.

Nightbird was a character I was really interested in since I heard she was to make an appearance in the movie. As I remember her G1 self was actually a human made replica of the Transformers. Her appearance in ROTB (while short lived) is fantastic and this figure, despite it's detrimental size of kibble, really shows the likeness of her design.
You know I hope we get Movie Masterpieces of the Terricons or any Transformers from ROTB. We have Bumblebee movie Optimus Prime and Bumblebee so why not?

That's really my only issue with the figure is those puny wings. Other than that, the figure looks fine.

While the figure is great (in both modes), I really appreciate the look of the vehicle mode. But to complete the terrorcon, this is definitely on my bucket list.
Honestly I don't even care how the backpack looks because I'll never display my figures facing the wall 😂 I'm just glad that the panels on her legs, the inside one is shorter, because to me, that leg conversion looked so much less cumbersome than the mainline and that pleases me so much more

Mirage and nightbird are not good figures compared to previous ones. They focused too much on the vehicle mode and because of that the robots are not accurate. Like seriously they could have made bigger wings that become the side of the car
I agree, they are definitely victims of having their vehicles prioritised. Hopefully in the future we can see them revisited 🙏🏻

Do you think that they'll release an upgrade kit for nightbird? I just think that although the wings are accurate to what we saw in the movie, I think that they are a little too small
And I really do wish that the studio series nightbird came with her the blades that comes out of her wrists and a extra katana
Considering that her forearms are on attached via friction joints it’s possible to swap them out for more accurate and articulated arms

I love how the mainline version was so good, they decided to just modify the mold a little.
Not a figure I was expecting myself to get but after this review I was like “ah screw it, I need a flying ninja terrorcon to be paired up with my scourge”
It could be more bronze but is not as dull caramel as the mainline.
I do like the jetpack. A necessary evil of backpacking.

Looks good despite the fiddley transformation/minimal articulation. As someone who hasn't gotten any of the mainline figures the huge draw with Nightbird, and Mirage are the film accuracy/painted detail in both vehicle/robot mode. Wonder if Nightbird would work for a Legacy updated Armada Sideswipe as they are essentially the same car.
Armada Sideswipe was an R32 sedan while Nightbird is an R33 GT-R. I would still love if they reused this mold for him though if he's retooled into an R32

Would've been cool if hasbro did a lil diff partsforming gimmick where you can replace the short wings for the long ones made from the windshields if they were tinted black
Also, scourge is getting an upgrade kit to it comes with that face without the mask on towards the final battle so if you want an accurate scourge and I would buy that upgrade kit
I can't wait 'til we get Studio Series Pablo next February!! I think Hasbro and Takara could've EASILY made the windows for Nightbird's car mode her wings, because that would've also made the wings bigger and maybe then the windows could've been tinted.

I think if you couldn’t get or find the mainline version(like me) I think this is a great alternative for it and maybe a betting option than the main line. That’s how I’ve always seen package refreshes and figures that feel the same EX: kingdom sideswipe and his many Recolors and kingdom/earth rise arcee 17:52
def an improvement over the mainline and the car mode is sick. already have the mainline and get this one as well and call them the nightbird sisters. they could have made her wings double the size though if they made them fold out, as there would have been enough room for in car mode.

That vehicle mode is beautiful and the colors help it come together even better than the Porsche, but the robot mode is just thick in all the wrong places. I think the big problem is that the car parts were smaller compared to the rest of her body in the movie, so it just looks off.
I plan on getting all 3 Terrorcons at once. Time to start saving up.
