Altern8 are a legendary act. Mark comes across as a great guy whenever I’ve heard him interviewed. This is a quality feel good set of classic tracks that most of this audience may never have heard or heard on a big system. Good work and shows that this music still stands up 30yrs later
would love some more old skool on boiler room, some really underground stuff - ratty, tango or top buzz with some dark jungle techno, or slipmatt with some acid
This is such a well rounded selection of great old tunes, exactly how I remember the better dj's mixing up the styles of house, techno, hardcore and breaks back in early days. If you want to hear what it was like in the better clubs in the UK in the late 80's early 90's then this is where it is at. Respect due Mr Archer.
Basically of you were a northerner and into dance music at this era, you should have been ashamed not to have gone to the Hacienda. Best club in the world. Dodgy as heck. Sweat pit, screaming for sunglasses at 6am. Atmosphere never experienced anywhere else. Cream was a pale imitator, just in it for the money.
I'm from down south. we all knew about how the Hacienda was kicking off but for some reason : ) we never managed to get it together to make the journey up north. I did most of my dancing in fields

I was there many years ago, when music evolved and we all got high, very high. The music moved us, and to my knowledge there wasn't any bad feeling, we all looked out for one another and it was ok times. I have to say, that this Dj session is one of the best I have ever heard. The best choice of tunes. Thanks you Mark, for a great evening and taking me back to the better times when I could be me. Thank you Sir.

Can't beat old skool. Going to an open air rave next weekend in Derry, Ireland. Vertigo, Rob Tiserra, Mr C, Alison Limerick, Orbital, Jumping Jack Frost to name a few
The last time I seen Mark djing in the middle of the set he dropped the original of New order - blue Monday it blew the roof off, Dublin old skool raver & I agree with who ever said they should do more BR old skool sets
This is just a discography of all my favourite tunes of all time. What an absolute joy to listen to. So good seeing the youngsters screaming when the bangers drop 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 ......timeless class
Mark, you have outdone yourself. A man of knowledge and hold the times of great music and tunes, so that you can pass on that knowledge and experience to those that were not there, like most of your audience I am afraid
I always find so many of these tunes from the late 80s, early 90s to be really difficult to mix, BUT Mark does an absolute sterling job to keep it all flowing perfectly intime and dropping absolute classics one after the other too!! Brings back good memories!
One of the best old school sets ever!! All the tracks have so many memories for me. Best time in dance music, I feel so lucky to have been there. Nice one Mark ;)
Had everyone of these records on vynil . Now 60 yrs old. Cant understand how you can mix with just 2 CDs. Used to have to take loads of records. Brilliant mix
Got a squeeze into Brixton Academy to see them live - not my scene but owt for nowt - they were fucking mental loved the show, masks on and white paper suits on, the lot! Class act
Bangin Tunes from another generation..... When it comes to Old Skool me and my mate Will Kelly were the Headmasters at Bakers, Wobble, Tin Tins etc. in the Birmingham 90's club scene. Superb work DJ....
44 and still go to raves and certain clubs and kids are surprised in the way I dance. Not like the early UK rave dances but more like the Canada West Coast mid-late 90's style.
Mark Archer?!! My friend, Dez, has gotten to know this guy very well over the past months/years, so much so he's landed himself a job dancing for Altern 8 at their gigs.
I Know the Original Dancers and I don't remember one called Des??. They would all come Into the Local Record Shop (It was like a meeting place) and all with their Gear. And Off to do Top Of The Pops. That Evening.
Great Dj . Nice to meet Mark in Birmingham the other week when i went with my mate Simon of 2Bad Mice fame for his set at the Acid Experiment. A great night was had by all.
Wasn't sure about this when I saw the tracklisting as there's a lot of obvious tunes, but the mixing is great and his enthusiasm on the decks is infectious. Will definitely play this again. Keep 'em coming Boiler Room!!
Back in the day best days and will neva be same less you see Mandy like me and my mate just done.... reliving it in my room buzzin.......to all you ravers xxx
You see? with proper music teens today can feel alive, just look how they are enjoying at the end of the session, most of them got techno shocked for sure. Amazing tunes. and absolute mastery at the decks. PERIOD.
Rave's greatest hits heh! To those who don't know, these tunes crossed over from the underground because they were big rave anthems one and all. Underground, overground wombling free.........wired and loved up on Ecstasy.
Great set by a legend of rave music , all classic tunes although mostly commercial crossover. The crowd were amazing it reminded me of my school discos , about as much atmosphere as a funeral.
Good mix but a lot of the tunes are ones that went mainstream. I watched altern 8 play in a car park 1992, curtain side trailer 2 in the morning in Shelly's at Stoke car park. That was class, 1500 wired kids on it.
Dave berry. I was there as well I was With Steve from Special FX Stafford. He provided the 10,000 watt sound system and I was on the lorry. At 2 O'clock In the morning they came streaming out of Shelly's dancing on the Cars. Brilliant Night. It was the Filming of the Video for Active 8. If You were there then check out the Video You might see Yourself. When the Police Turned up Lol. Out numbered so they Fucked Off. Only People Who were there would know that. They're Going Mad.
How life has changed - '91/'92 this used to be prime time Friday/Saturday night shit, coming up hard and fast; fast forward to 2018 and it's a Monday lunchtime and I'm decorating a bedroom. Am I enjoying it any less? Well, only a little bit. ; ) Edit: I've just realised it's 2019. Maybe the speckled doves did have an effect after all. 🕊👅
The last revolution in music. Every single one of them is a classic. You don't get that now. Love that Bassheads tune. I had no idea they released an album called C.o.d.e.s featuring the KLF rapper. I tumbled on it by accident one day
It seems to be a lost art these days. I am an oldskool DJ who learnt on vinyl and will always love it, and the anthems that were produced, what makes me sad these days is the jiggy jiggy beer dance that all the kids seem able to muster, get in a field of 20,000 pop a biscuit and lose it!
Best Boiler Room set ever. Can't see it being topped. Kids, that's how it was every weekend in 91 / 92!! 💊😜
have you seen any BR's from sub club glasgow? lol tops it for madness hands down mate.
+Wullie Anderson True, them sub club ones are mental. I'm not into the music though. It's wasted on an old sod like me.

1990's tunes reminding the youth of today what we did back then! This is epic.
Only thing that is better now is the Mandy but even that can't make up for the void in top notch rave music.

This is absolutely brilliant! Love Mark, Love Altern 8 and Love these timeless classics!!
The crowd look like they have been long starved of decent dance music.
114 dislikes...... stay off the glue......this is a class set 👍🏻
Doves, squidgy black, purple oms, mushies, GioGoi, baggy jeans...
Dean on an E an out you’re face we’re techno junkies in the place 😉🏴
At last, a proper mix from the the Boiler Room. 👏👏👏👏
What a mix absolutely loving this. So many tunes, a history lesson of the highest order. Rave on
What a great set to listen to and watch. Kudos Mark Archer. You know your minerals and can work the crowd.
Thank you Mark. Vibes for ten thousand miles!
Some crazy good tunes in this set. What a stormer!
Great Dj . Nice to meet Mark in Birmingham the other week when i went with my mate Simon of 2Bad Mice fame for his set at the Acid Experiment. A great night was had by all.
This is old school classic techno 🤗
A spectacular set.
The Prodigy - Out Of Space at 1:04:47 was a total mind blower!
WoWwwww! 😛😝😜😍 UK Hardcore will never die!
Wasn't sure about this when I saw the tracklisting as there's a lot of obvious tunes, but the mixing is great and his enthusiasm on the decks is infectious. Will definitely play this again. Keep 'em coming Boiler Room!!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Brings me back to being a teenager. What a great set. That is years of experience right there.
Back in the day best days and will neva be same less you see Mandy like me and my mate just done.... reliving it in my room buzzin.......to all you ravers xxx
Goose bumps with Awesome 3 Don't Go
Love seeing everyone have so much fun in the background
All these tracks was the wkend norm for us seen altern8 a couple of times!Big up Pandamonium.
So many anthems! Party time! So many great memories associated with these tunes and era! Thanks for posting this 😁
You see? with proper music teens today can feel alive, just look how they are enjoying at the end of the session, most of them got techno shocked for sure.
Amazing tunes. and absolute mastery at the decks. PERIOD.
Rave's greatest hits heh! To those who don't know, these tunes crossed over from the underground because they were big rave anthems one and all. Underground, overground wombling free.........wired and loved up on Ecstasy.
I can't stop listening into this.
Mark Archer is the best
Great set by a legend of rave music , all classic tunes although mostly commercial crossover. The crowd were amazing it reminded me of my school discos , about as much atmosphere as a funeral.
im 48 and you took me back to the raven hotel flint when i was 18 what a pub small dance floor with your epic tunes blasting
💃 ALL CLUB BANGERS!! 🕺🎼LOVE 😍 to The LEGEND MARK ARCHER!!🎵🎶 AMAZING 🤩 DJ SET! 🎧🎚️🎛️
One song in and it's going in the favourites as I can already tell it's gonna be a banger!
Such an incredible mix. Some of the hard cuts must take some serious confidence to do live.
Good mix but a lot of the tunes are ones that went mainstream. I watched altern 8 play in a car park 1992, curtain side trailer 2 in the morning in Shelly's at Stoke car park. That was class, 1500 wired kids on it.
I was there too
September 1991 ..... Caravan Posse :)
@@TheBudgie29 2 brown biscuits and loads of red stripe. Big red Mountain equipments coat in, stood on a white xr2 fiesta.
i was there ! forgot about that until just now , thanks for the reminder
As a track, the production value in Passion - Gat Decor is just astounding.
Darren Emerson ReMix was also great!
What an absolute legend this fella is! More AKAs than you can shake a stick at
Got to say its spot on for the day... night, whatever takes your fancy... cheers man and big love
How life has changed - '91/'92 this used to be prime time Friday/Saturday night shit, coming up hard and fast; fast forward to 2018 and it's a Monday lunchtime and I'm decorating a bedroom. Am I enjoying it any less? Well, only a little bit. ; )
Edit: I've just realised it's 2019. Maybe the speckled doves did have an effect after all. 🕊👅
💊 🕉 🕊 🍪 ☺ 🔹 🍓 👍 👌
The last revolution in music. Every single one of them is a classic. You don't get that now. Love that Bassheads tune. I had no idea they released an album called C.o.d.e.s featuring the KLF rapper. I tumbled on it by accident one day
Altern 8,Top Buzz,Rat Pack,Shades of Rythym best live rave shows ever
Freya Richmond totally agree 👍🏻🏴
Great mix! Really embodies how fun techno is and how great music mixed by a great dj can make you feel great!
What a beast. When all is said and done you can't beat the Old Skool. What a tune to start.
Why does every crowd in the boiler room sets look like they have no clue about the music they're there for? 🤔
So true!!!
@@londonlover69 absolute melons!!
Adam Turner probably the ones that have a clue are indoors with there kids
@@carlbutler9642 kids don't stop your life, if they do your doing it wrong 👍
Amazing mix, takes me back to some awesome times :-)
Wow...wow...wow! Any more of these on the horizon?!?
I had the pleasure of warming up for Altern8 and 808 State in Nottingham a while back. They're still at it like it's 1992
F#cking amazing. This is what dance music is about. Brilliance.
If this set was on 1210's it would of been extra special..
Curzed UK Twat!
Amazing...... the best songs of Altern8.
Watch yer base bins I'm telling ya!!!
Asterix & Space....
@@_marvinsuggs_ i gave them thier first gig st shiregreen, Sheffield
Watch your ears! Tinnitus is a twat! Xxx
Yer wha?
Can't hear yah John mate!
I'll just turn it up and shout louder! Xxx
Cracking mix wasted on this generation, i`m sure a club full of us 40 plusers would have been going for it a lot more. :-)
Mate, that's exactly what I was thinking! :-)
Oww my hip! :)
@@MCfattyB I'm 50 in 10 days and yes i concur
It seems to be a lost art these days. I am an oldskool DJ who learnt on vinyl and will always love it, and the anthems that were produced, what makes me sad these days is the jiggy jiggy beer dance that all the kids seem able to muster, get in a field of 20,000 pop a biscuit and lose it!
Best set I've heard for a long time!
Jesus, what a set!!🔥🔥 Oh to go back
This was one of the illest sets I've heard on Boiler Room in a long time.
one the best bolier room sets ever i loved watching it
