    So..am I correct that the hole in the plumbing actually works as a check valve? Is that correct? If so, that is a way cool idea!

    Aren't you afraid of mosquitoes with that standing water? I was under the impression from other videos that I've seen, that just a little bit more pea gravel would be better...? IDK You've got a nice set up there!

    New to ponds & just heard about Bog Filters. Have I got this right ?
    Water pumped from pond to area with Pea shingle with pipes underneath flowing to a different area with plants then back to pond?
    What plants?
    Thanks.

    Hello.
    Can you confirm something for me which I've been getting to find out for about 1 week now? I have been doing research by watching video's like your's & looking at advice on the internet like groups on F.B. I have been informed that Pea SHINGLE should be used which IS different to Pea GRAVEL although they are listed as being the same in the shops, I understand that Pea SHINGLE is made out of Limestone where as the GRAVEL is made out of STONE! Does it matter which one I use?
    Thanks from the UK.

    Do you run it 24/7? Or can you turn it off at night?

    Wondering what plants are your favorite for being in bog filter as far as their roots?

    wait whyd you put your pipe in the water without having any holes in the first place? The pipe has to be perforated anyway to let the water out and rise.

    Has the wood on your waterfall lasted for 15 years? Did you have to transplant that moss, or is that naturally growing moss? Do you have a liner on the waterfall?

      +Anthony Piedra Yes it is made from Ironwood. I'm told they use it in Australia for pier pilings and that they can pull it up 75 years later and reuse it.

    i see you have veggies in pots in your bog. what substrate do you have in the pots?

    • @BackYardIdeas

      +David Kerrison The plants only stayed in the pots util the retrofit was complete and were the planted in the gravel. The Pickerel Weed in the pond has long since outlived it's need for a pot and is free floating believe it or not.

    Rather than put holes in the top to let air out I would have put in the water and disconnected the tube of water. At that time you should be able to lift up the manifold and remove the air. But still a very good video. Thanks :)

    • @BackYardIdeas
      @BackYardIdeas  7 лет назад +1

      1100 GPH but it's a solid 1100 with very little drop in head pressure at 3ft.

    How did u make ur waterfall box?

    • @BackYardIdeas
      @BackYardIdeas  7 лет назад

      It is made from Iron wood which is a specialty hardwood from Australia but it is available here in the US. This stuff will not rot. I'll be making a video shortly describing the whole thing.
